Newcastle Very Close To Another Major Signing

If France are beaten in their quarter-final tie tonight against Germany in the World Cup,  it could be that it is announced soon that Mathieu Debuchy will be leaving Newcastle and signing for Arsenal, and manager Arsene Wenger has already been quoted as saying he is confident of signing the Newcastle right back as a replacement for Bacary Sagna, and he wouldn’t say that if the deal wasnt very close to being completed – or had already been agreed with Newcastle.

Daryl Janmaat

Daryl Janmaat – 24 year-old Dutch International right back

And some potentially good news in Italy today that Newcastle’s replacement could be Daryl Janmaat,  and that Newcastle are  close to a deal for the 24 year-old Dutch International right back.

The news is coming from Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, and the Feyenoord player is currently with the Dutch squad in Brazil, and it’s being reported that talks over personal terms to move to Newcastle will begin once Holland finish their World Cup exploits.

Newcastle already have signed Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback and Siem de Jong this summer, and it seems this lad would be a great signing for Newcastle., if we can beat other clubs to his signing.

Janmaat started his career at ADO Den Haag in 2007 and moved to Heerenveen the next year, where he stayed for four seasons before signing on at Feyenoord, and in his last two seasons there he has played 54 times with five goals.

Janmaat has played for the Dutch U20 and U21 sides and has 19 full caps for Holland, and he would appear to be an excellent replacement for Mathieu Debuchy who will turn 29 later this month.

Janmaat played every minute of the three games in the group stages of the World Cup for Holland, and he was an unused  substitute in the 2-1 win over Mexico in the round of the last 16.

He was born in Leidschendam and made his International debut for Holland in September 2012, and played the full 90 minutes in the 2–0 home win against Turkey for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Janmatt is 6’1″ tall and the reason the news is coming out of Italy is that he has been heavily linked with a summer move to Napoli, and Manchester United were also recently linked with the player.

He looks a very decent player to us – and we hope we can get this lad on Tyneside.

What do you think?

Our 3 in middle of midfield now look solid with Tiote being the holding midfielder, Sissoko the box-box player and SDJ the attacking midfielder.

Now that leaves a striker, out wide and our full backs. To start with Santon is not a left back! How many right footed full backs play left back and vice a versa…!? I would go on to say that Santon is barley a full back at all, I’d give him a shot further up the pitch as he can cross, has pace and some skill. Let Haidara and Dummet fight for left back.

Right back, if Debs leave for the touted £12 million then a solid replacement has to be brought in, doubt anymore than £5-6 million will be spent though. Maybe Sam Byram from Leeds or Hugo Mallo from Celta Vigo or indeed Janmaat all young prospects.

Out wide is a far bigger problem, as of now we have nothing out wide but Gouff who is a striker but works hard out there and HBA who Pardew doesn’t want to play…

I would get Luuk de Jong for 2-4m. He is worth a punt.

He hardly had a chance to prove his worth, and the whole team was shocking when he was here. It would be harsh to judge him.

Even Messi or Ronaldo would have struggled in our team after Cabaye was sold last year, our general play was awful!

Just because a player does not score when played out of position doesn’t make him a bad player i.e. Ba

Also applies to defenders. To all wanting Mbiwa out the club they need a good hard slap. Mbiwa and Williamson kept clean sheets against Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham to name a few….he was dropped when Colo came back and is expected to play as a makeshift right back.

Sorry but if you play Kompany out on the right he would be a good player, not a great one. Vertonghen proves it, quality CB and an average makeshift left back.

Some people on here think they are amazing scouts, HALF OF YOU WANTED RVW and what did he do? Just go back if you could be bothered to name and shame all the people claiming we missed out on this amazing player, yet you could probably get him for 500k now.

I love how people on here think they know a good player because of FM or Fifa. Or simply follow the hype off other people.

If we could get Luuk De Jong, Grenier in before the remainder of the window I would be chuffed.

I would also stay away from the World Cup players, as they are overpriced, tired and overall this is one of the worst World Cups I have ever seen. The quality of the matches is no where near 1998.

If we can sell Debuchy for 12m I would snap it off them. You could buy a better, younger player who has more discipline and is injured less.

    The truth will out….

Like John Dahl was? or Andersson? or Saha? or Ba?

Prime example Ba, when Cisse arrived 85-90% of this blog wanted 4-2-3-1 with Cisse up top by himself as Ba did not hit the “onion bag” in the second half of the season.

Yet it ended that Cisse would be the flop…. and Ba ending up in Chelsea in January yet still ending the season as our top scorer.

Some people on here are too quick to judge. If you base one player off the second half of last season for Newcastle you would condemn the entire team should be shipped away……

Luuk De Jong was not the problem.

He is clearly low in confidence. Sometimes a striker is quality, and simply has a poor patch in his career. The quality remains it is simply awaiting a key to unlock it. The key in this case being confidence.

Any striker in the planet earth would tell you, confidence is half the effort when approaching a goal, striking a ball, timing, the sh-bang.

He just needs a couple of goals. Newcastle fans in general are sometimes quick to judge a player who simply does not score after a couple of games. I mean his prime role in a god awful performing team was no.10 role. He probably has never played their in his life!!

    The Truth Will Out ….

Sorry but you clearly did not watch Newcastle last season. He was hardly on the pitch to trap a ball.

And when he was he is not a player to turn and run at players, he is not Ben Arfa (thank god)

If you ask Man Utd fans what they thought of Diego Forlan before he left I am sure they would say he was god awful…..

He certainly showed them he was not…. CONFIDENCE!

I would take BA back no probs bud. I reckon 5-6 mill would be sufficient, But im not sure he would come back to Nufc unless we could sell him a dream as we did SDJ.

    Haidara (LB)
    Santon (RB)
    Raylor (Sub)
    Dummett (Bench)

    Colback (occasional LB)
Curtis Good (option – more of a CB really)
    James Tavernier (already sold)

there you go.. end of story !

Luuk de Jong is, in my book, worth another shot if the price is right. He came at a terrible time when NUFC were in a severe slump, the very best of strikers could have struggled to make an impact then. But he showed enthusiasm and some skill. The says he cherishes the club, city and fans, that is a big plus. SDJ & LDJ could work very well in the same team as they have an understanding of each other on a different level.

Luuk de Jong – whilst not playing in a particularly good team (alright a crap team) still did not show anything that would tend to shw he was a quality player. He was pretty poor to be honest. He was probably worth a look on loan -but really if we’d had someone else to try he would have been binned earlier.
    Definitely not a PL player.

I think there seems to be a overhaul of squad and backroom staff this summer, which is what is badly needed.
we have just appointed a new head of fitness in the shape of Dave billows who has spent 13 yr as Everton’s head fitness coach

okay guys.. we will never know what’s to be and what not to be unless we actually make it happen.. even the hardest LDJ doubters have a tickle in their heads whether it was the team and their support or the player himself ! on the last buy option 8 mil, it’s ridiculous to activate that on performance showed by him in the last 6 months.. so to put to rest all doubters and supporters, looking at our forward options.. a season long loan deal with a buy option of 3-4 mil at the end seems good for all the parties.. maybe as a backup !

Just spend 20m on Lukaku, he’s a genetic freak beast and will score goals for fun, rough up defenders creating space for De Jong and will only rise in value over the years.

I think so long as we sign a top class striker then Ldj on loan even for 6 month would give us more of an indication if he is good enough for the PL.
I agree with tuffers that he didn’t really show me much to say sign him up, But he was shot of confidence and came into a p@ss poor team. He was made to play as a second striker behind Remy and used more as a no 10 which is not his position

In some respects I want France to win today but will not be too disappointed if we can clinch Cabella soon thereafter.

I hope we can also get Lacazette but there are the now the all too familiar cries of ‘Champions League’ from him or his agent which seems to be a back door way of upping the sale price.

    Belgrade

Cabaye, Remy and Debuchy have all said thay want ‘Champions League’. This is going to be a problem for mid table clubs like ourselves to get players who currently play in Europe. Our ace is that we pay cash upfront to the club and the player is likely to be paid more and pay less tax.

we will only know if our strikers are any good by them actually playing so….cisse/siem/perez/campbell/armstrong !

if you bring in another striker that means some of these lads not good enough.

we wont take a huge loss on cisse so he will be playing next season / siem is obv playing / perez will play some part seing as they paid 1.6mil for him and he has to settle so wont be sent on loan / campbell and arma could be sent on loan if not campbell let go as he’s reaching 20 and only has a year left before he needs to be counted as 1st team squad.
