If France are beaten in their quarter-final tie tonight against Germany in the World Cup, it could be that it is announced soon that Mathieu Debuchy will be leaving Newcastle and signing for Arsenal, and manager Arsene Wenger has already been quoted as saying he is confident of signing the Newcastle right back as a replacement for Bacary Sagna, and he wouldn’t say that if the deal wasn‘t very close to being completed – or had already been agreed with Newcastle.
Daryl Janmaat – 24 year-old Dutch International right back
And some potentially good news in Italy today that Newcastle’s replacement could be Daryl Janmaat, and that Newcastle are close to a deal for the 24 year-old Dutch International right back.
The news is coming from Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, and the Feyenoord player is currently with the Dutch squad in Brazil, and it’s being reported that talks over personal terms to move to Newcastle will begin once Holland finish their World Cup exploits.
Newcastle already have signed Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback and Siem de Jong this summer, and it seems this lad would be a great signing for Newcastle., if we can beat other clubs to his signing.
Janmaat started his career at ADO Den Haag in 2007 and moved to Heerenveen the next year, where he stayed for four seasons before signing on at Feyenoord, and in his last two seasons there he has played 54 times with five goals.
Janmaat has played for the Dutch U20 and U21 sides and has 19 full caps for Holland, and he would appear to be an excellent replacement for Mathieu Debuchy who will turn 29 later this month.
Janmaat played every minute of the three games in the group stages of the World Cup for Holland, and he was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win over Mexico in the round of the last 16.
He was born in Leidschendam and made his International debut for Holland in September 2012, and played the full 90 minutes in the 2–0 home win against Turkey for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Janmatt is 6’1″ tall and the reason the news is coming out of Italy is that he has been heavily linked with a summer move to Napoli, and Manchester United were also recently linked with the player.
He looks a very decent player to us – and we hope we can get this lad on Tyneside.
What do you think?

Comment #45I dont think Faye was with us full time ?? Think she was only there at the pre season which would explain in the 2nd half we looked shattered in games

Comment #46Why is everyone so desperate to shift Sissoko into CM out of interest?
He’s was decent out wide last season and has been unbelievably impressive on the wing for France with power and pace and made some brilliant runs into the box to support the forward
Besides who the hell else do we have to play there?

Totally agree with you about Sissoko he has always looked poor for us in the middle the only times he has looked great has been on the wing , lots of space to run into and also protects the full back !
He does not have the control or awareness to play in the middle in the premier league always loses the ball looks alright in the middle for France but does not really do much apart from pass it to a better player
When he is on the wing he creates chances and causes full backs plenty of trouble

Comment #48santon…I see, wasn’t sure tbh. Sounds about right though…it’s not like they would need help with fitness as the season went on…
Tads…Who are you? Pardew or something? It’s not about if he can play there, but he is tagged as a CM so that is where he should play! 🙂

Comment #50Didn’t Sissoko play as a part of the midfield in a 4-3-3 for most part of the games for France?
…or was that just on my TV? 😉

Comment #51I wonder how much would cost Griezman…but we have to bring Grenier and Lacazette quickly, maybee Lacazette will feel with him and Grenier we should be champions league team 😀 ….then after world cup bring Janmaat and Cabella….and then we can go for another striker I personally would bring LDJ as he has great motivation to come here and show he is good player…this squad is good for me
GK:Krul,Elliot,
FB:Janmaat,Santon,Haidara,Dummet,R.Taylor
CB:Colo,Mbiwa,S.Taylor,Willo,Good
CM:Grenier,Tiote,Anita,Colback,Bigirimana
WG:Sissoko,HBA,Cabella,Gouffran,Sa.Ameobi
AM:De Jong,Abeid
SC:Lacazette,LDJ,Cisse,Pérez
not a bad team for me…maybe on top CB away from pushing really for champions league place

Once again, if it’s true OM want to move Valbuena on for £8 mil, put that bid in!!!!
Santon
Agree, his awareness isn’t great and when he’s running with the ball his touch can be quiet heavy, which benefits him on the wing but makes him look poor in midfield
Not a lot of FB’s would of enjoyed playing against him last season, bags of pace, very combative, never gives up on a loose ball and he actually looks to get to the byline and get the cross in, we have to many players that look to cut in and tbh makes us look predictable, he can do both

No not most and most of his best moves came from when he got the ball wide and attacked the wings

Shhhhhhhh don’t let my secret out!!!!
Tbh Pardew has got a lot wrong when it comes to the players, for me though Sissoko is the one player he’s got right and given his age think he can grow into a very special player
Very much looking forward to seeing SDJ next season, fantastic signing imo, but still a hell of a lot of work to do, imo we still need a LW another midfielder in the Grenier mould 2 CF’s and in all probability a RB, Janmaat has looked great in the WC, but we’ve seen many players have a good WC then flop but apparently Van Gaal wants him at Manure so seems to be highly rated so him or Richards would be good replacements
We’ll prob end up getting Danny Simpson back..

Comment #57tads…Your secret is safe with me mate, don’t worry.
I think you know my thoughts on Pardew, for sure he has got some things wrong, many things wrong if you like, but I do feel some to a lot of the criticism he gets is way over the top. But that’s just me.
I’m with you on your earlier point, who else do we play there?
I read on here the other day that someone thought Pardews biggest mistake was playing Cisse when arrived…they reckon we should have left Obertan on the right ffs….and that maybe then he would have come good.
You have to laugh.
I like the look of Siem, hopefully will work well with Anita too. We’re still desperate for a goal scorer in the team and a Debuchy replacement if he is off…which I imagine he is.
Anyway, as always, we shall see what happens. What a joy.

Lol Obertan??? Be better off getting Pardew to dust off his boots!!
The SDJ signing was a much needed lift, just hope Pardew, Carr, Charnley etc don’t spend to long high fiving each other over getting a player in, still need 3-4 players in to immediately challenge the first team, and a lot of drift wood to be cleared and replaced

Comment #59I think at the right price LDJ would be a good buy. I agree he came into the team at the wrong time but let me also say, he showed he could play a bit and at his age, he will improve. With big brother being there it will also help. As for goal scoring, if any of you can remember a guy call John O ‘Hare. He didn’t score a lot but he made goals for others and you need players like that.
Still surprised no-one has moved for Jordan Rhodes……proven goalscorer. Might be worth a flutter.

Comment #60Very upset if we turn down chance to sign Micah Richards…This lad is better then anyone in the back we have now!! I remember before ManC were bought by oil money thinking how good him and Schmeichel would be..After abu dhabi came in and injuries occured he was pushed to back of the line..Really believe Richards still has a lot to offer and wants to prove it massive mistake if we dont jump at chance to sign him
