The Chronicle is reporting today that Newcastle could be doing some transfer business again with Ajax this summer, after we signed Siem de Jong last week from the Dutch giants.
Ricardo van Rhijn – 23 year-old Ajax right-back
Apparently 23 year-old right-back Ricardo van Rhijn is a potential target, and the player has played for all the Dutch youth sides from U15 through U21, and 6 times for the full Dutch squad.
Ricardo joined Ajax at the age of 12 back in 2002 and came through the famous Ajax Youth Academy
for the Magpies after United ran the rule over the defender last season.
He has played for Ajax 107 times with 4 goals after making his first team debut in December 2011, in the Eredivisie, against ADO Den Haag.
There has been interest in Ricardo from other Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Everton.
The player was born in Leiden, Holland and he stands 6′ tall and is highly rated in Holland.
It will be important that Newcastle replace Mathieu Debuchy when he eventually signs for Arsenal and that deal seems almost certain to happen according to reports at the Arsenal club.
We have also been linked with Feyenoord right back Daryl Janmaat who is in the 23 man Dutch squad at the World Cup.
With the recruitment of some Dutch players this summer, we are hoping that goalkeeper Tim Krul will want to stay at the club, and not itch for a move away this summer, to join a more ambitious club.
