Newcastle Interested In Ajax Defender

The Chronicle is reporting today that Newcastle could be doing some transfer business again with Ajax this summer, after we signed Siem de Jong last week from the Dutch giants.

Ricardo van Rhijn

Ricardo van Rhijn – 23 year-old Ajax right-back

Apparently 23 year-old right-back Ricardo van Rhijn is a potential target, and the player has played for all the Dutch youth sides from U15 through U21, and 6 times for the full Dutch squad.

Ricardo joined Ajax at the age of 12 back in 2002 and came through the famous Ajax Youth Academy
for the Magpies after United ran the rule over the defender last season.

He has played for Ajax 107 times with 4 goals after making his first team debut in December 2011, in the Eredivisie, against ADO Den Haag.

There has been interest in Ricardo from other Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Everton.

The player was born in Leiden, Holland and he stands 6′ tall and is highly rated in Holland.

It will be important that Newcastle replace Mathieu Debuchy when he eventually signs for Arsenal and that deal seems almost certain to happen according to reports at the Arsenal club.

We have also been linked with Feyenoord right back Daryl Janmaat who is in the 23 man Dutch squad at the World Cup.

With the recruitment of some Dutch players this summer, we are hoping that goalkeeper Tim Krul will want to stay at the club, and not itch for a move away this summer, to join a more ambitious club.

What do you think?

It is sensible to pull out. Ask any foreign player

‘do you want to play for possibly the biggest and most successful club in the world or Newcastle who haven’t a trophy in over 50 years?’

I know what I would say.

Add one more out as it looks like Shane ferguson is on his way to Ipswich. Never would have made the grade but still another one on his merry way.
Personally I don’t believe we will let so many players leave without replacing. If Mashley was that intent on sending us down to the championship then why would he have bothered spending 9+ mill as of yet.
The Lacazette story is simply the agent after more money and fees for his own back burner. The only way we will lose out to him is if a bigger club come in for him which goes for all players we are linked with.
Its stupid season again……25 mill for Lovren—–Aint worth it………10 mill for Mcormack hahaha ya having a laugh

Are we going to compete with other premier clubs like Chelsea or Everton?

I find it strange these stories appear in local press, but that Newcastle never talk to anyone about any subject ever.

My point exactly, we won’t get into a bidding war with anyone, and will not go that extra mile over what the club feels a player is worth to bring them in.

I’m not saying we could not compete, just that we won’t compete.

According to some reports SDJ spent most of last season injured, maybe that is why he was such a coup for us.

We have to have the clearout yous were all screaming out for before we can bring in fresh blood.
We will start the season with a full strength squad.
I don’t expect it to be the big names we are constantly being linked with tho.
We will aim for mid table and just about survive no problems.
Some of you guys are expecting far too much.
You should all know the score by now.
Sell to buy and minimal investment to remain in the EPL.
Fat Bastid will spend what needs to be spent. No more than that.
No point in getting all wound up and angry about it.
Yous cant do anything about it anyway.
Suck it up and enjoy the show.

I would prefer either Van Rhign, Ruben Ligeon or Micah Richards over Daryl Janmaat.

Lacazette won’t be joining us so we should be going all out for PEA and Enner Valencia. If we can’t get PEA which we probably won’t then we should go for Abel Hernandez, he’s looking for a move and has talked highly of NUFC

I know mate, I was being a little sarcastic about the article above. The Chronicle reporting we are being linked with a Chelsea / Everton target. It’s just a none story designed to work up the fans, and then get them angry when we lose out on yet another supposed target.

Newcastle have said they will not buy any players that are not on their list and have not been thoroughly scouted.

I just hope that list is a long one, the way things are going a very long one!

Debuchy for $8 mill seems very low fee…don’t actually care anymore about how much profit we make on players…

In fact I hope our transfer policy falls on it’s ar$e..

hopefully we can’t shift the likes of HBA, Marv and Obertan who are all on a decent wage and MA loses out profit wise…. In fact it would be ironic if we couldn’t add to our squad much more and P45DUE had to play the the likes of HBA out of necessity!!

If MA can’t see profits being made from an important part of his business plan (buying and selling players) he might just sling his hook!!!

First,we should land cabella, can play as a striker with cisse upfront. Lacazettes agent saying CL football 4 my client does not necessarily mean he rejected us.no one is after him yet so we definitely have a chance.other striker options to consider include:
    Luis Muriel-long time arsenal target.
    Jordan ayew-good hardworking player
Aubameyang-looks like put up for sale,
    Demba Ba-Costa arrived,obviously isn’t needed.we know all about him
Em.Reviere-his club offered to us,scored couple of decent goals last season
    Gameiro
    Abel Hernandez
    Jelle vossen

Fatty will be very interested in this one.

As far as Lacazette and others are concerned, wanting to join a Champions League club can and probably translate into not enough ambition or more to the point, not enough money on offer.

Why though are we finding out that players aren’t interested in us when it comes to discussing personal terms? Surely, signability could have established before wasting time?

And while bigger clubs like Swansea, Southampton, Fulham etc signed players early, we have been pi$$Ing about and look forward to pre season with an under-strength squad.

Here we go again – SNAFU!

Would love Luis Muriel could cost around £7-11mil though.

We need fast strikers who can also bring the ball down and can create. not players like Lasogga who can only poach and can’t create chances for himself

What makes me highly pissed off is the fact that we go for some players whole heartedly and with a purpose, like Cisse, Mbiwa and the likes….they get Pardewed and we turn a blind eye to them

They WHERE quality for sure, we can’t get best out of em now suddenly they are crap and would be sold. Laughable.

I hate to tell you this but Ashley will not lose out owning Newcastle United.

The cost of owning the club is peanuts to him he is so rich. And the board of Sports Direct have approved to give a £180M of shares to their 3000 staff. He owns 58% of them shares.

    Sorry to disappoint.

It’s a negotiating tactic to sight ‘Champions League’.

However, Lacazette’s agent has probably made a major error of judgement by declaring it publicly. He has backed himself into a corner because if no Champions League club comes for him and offer more money than he gets at Lyon he is going to be in a weak position with humble pie on his face.

If he had said it in private then it would have lead to some confidential horse trading. We will see how it pans out.

    Slank,
I’d imagine he will be good at very little in the Premier League.

I wouldn’t write Lacazette off yet, there were links and rumours of Juve and a couple of other clubs, but we seem to be the only serious proposition yet. His agent knows we are desperate so can pump up wages and fees accordingly. We do need 2 or 3 in though, so we would have better bargaining power if we weren’t so desperate.

Not sure about this Hadzic link, do we really need another defensive midfielder? Tiote, Colback, Anita, Sissoko can play their? It looks like another bargain being signed over the actual need for a player in that role!

    True.

Virtually all the people today who own football clubs tend to have got there by being very ruthless and efficient in other business spheres.

Although some having got a club often forget their natural business instincts and attributes that made them very rich but it doesn’t last long. They soon revert to type.

There aren’t many club owning benefactors today although I was really glad and very grateful that Sir John Hall managed to get rid of the McKeags and Westwoods.

Some of these players only leaving for cl clubs have a high opinion of themselves. I know sometimes its the agents but come on. Lacazette maybe a star in the making but he aint there yet. By all means if he wants to sit on the bench somewhere and waste his career then crack on son. Plenty of time for cl football but you need to prove yourself first at a top league like the premier.
