Newcastle Make Move For Wilfried Zaha

Newcastle United are ready to make a move for Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, according to a report in the Sunday People today from former Chronicle reporter Alan Oliver, and even though the 21 year-old failed miserably in the Premier League last season the fee is said to be around £7M.

Wilfried Zaha – Newcastle make move for 21 year-old

But that’s still less than half of what the Red Devils paid for him 18 months ago, when they signed him from Crystal Palace.

Newcastle have been long term admirers of the former Crystal Palace winger, and were interested in signing him two years ago, with manager Alan Pardew said to still rate the young player highly.

It’s hardly surprising that new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal  has told thew club to sell the winger, who has 13 caps at the U21 level and two full caps for England.

Wilfried made only 4 appearances for the Manchester club last season, and while on loan at Cardiff City this year, he played 11 times with no goals and was mainly used as a substitute for the relegated club.

The youngster was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and in four seasons at Crystal Palace he played 143 games and scored 18 goals.

We’ll have to wait and see if Mike Ashley is willing to pay out £7M for a 21 year-old who has hardly been successful over the past season in the big time.

I hope not because he is not a proper winger 🙁
And we want a better striker or goalscorer 🙁

My only concern is that Man U players coming here are usually total failures a la Butt, Smith, ober. Otherwise, I’d say, good player.

They say ‘beware of Greeks bearing gifts’.

I would like to add ‘beware of transfers from Man United, especially wingers’

I can’t believe he’s going for nearly the same price as Debuchy. He’s exactly the type of attacking flair player Pardew will be confused by. But Pardew will be over the moon to get a Man Utd player, especially one Fergusson signed.

Southampton were reported to have agreed a 8.5m fee with FC Twente for Dusan Tadic but that was a week or so ago & I don’t know of any developments since. He would be a far superior buy to Zaha or should that be Haha.I have never been impressed by this lad whenever I’v seen him & also been reported a few times that he’s got a attitude problem.IMHO Zaha would be a much bigger gamble than Tadic who is very consistent in scoring goals, providing assists & creating chances season & season. He plays on the LW,can use both feet so can also play on the RW & as the AMF. If we could get him in to play with SDJ we would have two very intelligent, creative players who would also be a goal threat themselves as well as providing assists. Over to you NUFC.

keith gillespie was no failure from manu 😉

the talent is there with this lad and imo he is a proper winger and can score aswell as have a fair few assists and is a lot better than goofy in that possition as he is now nevermind if he does get back to form (no offence to goofy just the lad is doing a guti atm)

Is zaha better than obertan in his recent performance? I doubt it..
We need to replace some of the under performers :
    Ameobi by Muriel/Jordan ayew
    Debuchy-janmaat/van Rhijn/Richards
    P.cisse-demba ba
    Jonas G-cabella

No doubt, with his pace, he will be a brilliant replacement for Debuchy!!!

I think we should try to get him on loan and then make decision.

Looked a great prospect at Palace, there can be several reasons he flopped at ManU, if it’s his attitude then we’re better off without. Personally I’d love him to sign for us but then the pessimist in me says he’ll get the potential ‘Pardewed’ out of him!
