Newcastle are said to have targets this summer in France, Holland and Spain, and we suppose that list included Germany until we missed out on German U21 striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga last week, when he finally signed on at Hamburg.
Tim Krul and Louis van Gaal after the penalty shoot-out win
Kiss me honey honey kiss me
Tim Krul has captured the news around the world in the last day after his heroics in the penalty shoot-out on Saturday night against Costa Rica.
Tim moved the right way for every single one of their five penalties and magnificently saved two of them – while Holland converted all four of their penalties, and they went through to meet Argentina in the semi-finals.
The other semi-final is between Brazil and Germany, and the host country will be without their top star Neymar, who was injured in the 2-1 win over Columbia, when he fractured a vertebra.
Newcastle may bring in more players from Holland this summer, after our successful acquisition of Siem de Jong, and the Holland number one right-back Ricardo van Rhijn is one player Newcastle are seriously considering bringing in to replace Mathieu Debuchy.
The news is that Newcastle have salready poken to his agents, and Ricardo is keen on a move to the Premier League, although other clubs are also interested.
One question is whether Tim Krul will push for a move, to get away from Newcastle to a bigger club this summer, since at the end of last season he seemed to be just a little bit fed up at Newcastle, and of course we had a terrible second half to the season.
But Krul still made the World Cup squad for Holland, and although he’s not a starter in the team, his heroics in the shoot-out against Costa Rica will mark him as a Dutch hero, especially if Louis van Gaal can get Holland to win the World Cup for the first time ever.
And before the World Cup some top European clubs had shown an interest in Krul, and his heroics on Saturday night will only enhance his reputation as a top goalkeeper.
We hope Tim will stay on at Newcastle, but it’s becoming very worrying that have some of our top players wanting to leave the club.
When that happens there’s something wrong somewhere – and with good clubs you get players wanting to join them – not wanting to leave at the first opportunity.

Yeah i think that is his problem, he is a number 10.5…
Plays between midfeild and a number 10,so he has no real position lol.

Comment #44More of the same BS Ed. You need to change the title of this site to ‘NUFC Bipolar Blog’
One minute you have us signing every striker in Europe, the next minute everyone is leaving. Get some real stories or just shut the blog down.

Jazzyp – sorry I disappeared in the middle of a conversation on Saturday night – I think you must sit a few rows behind me – are platinum club members allowed to use the sports bar?

Comment #47musomag @44 – To be fair Ed simply summarises rumours and stories that are doing the rounds and adds his own opinions as it is Ed Harrisons’s Blog!!!! He is on holiday at the moment so fair play to him for producing any articles.

Comment #50I wouldn’t say we have gone backwards so much as just staggered!
…Post Bobby Robson we have Judy been plain bad and hurtful to watch on most parts. But people are just quickly to forgot and past judgment so quickly.
I would love for Mike to sell up and the fans to get involved – but if this blog is to go by then that will just be a disaster in the happening 😉

didn’t understand that article about English players being too nice to win but I guess you got it from Rooney’s comments. True, that. Nice lads like Rooney and Terry getting bullied by those nasty foreigners 😉
Talk of scraping the proverbial barrel. Others here were more to the point, when they were digging into youth football, attitudes, useless teen coaches, narrow street football abroad, etc.

Comment #52If I was Krul , I’d be gone . And if most people were honest , so would they . It’s no a case of loyalty, it’s about ambition . He is now in the bracket of “great keepers ” why the hell would he want to stay at this Mickey Mouse set up . I hope he stays ,but !!!!!

Comment #53With the clear lack of ambition shown by ASHLEY and Co it is not surprising our beloved club is having trouble recruiting good players because they won’t achieve anything at NUFC. Our reputation and image has suffered badly with a Sponsor who is fined for treating its customers badly. (As does Ashley with supporters and press) and a manager who nuts and abuses fellow managers. The only likely players we are going to get are mercenaries and transients at a revolving door club. Until Ashley and Pards goes I will not be spending another penny keeping them at the club. Money talks, bullshit walks.

“Stagnant”. Yes. I would go along with that.
That is actually the best available word to describe NUFC, in every aspect.

Comment #60If we are such a great selliing club, how come we are still stuck with Obertan, Gutierrez. Marv, Staylor, Sameobi and a bunch of other no-hopers? Flog that lot and I’ll be impressed with our new policy.
By the way, Santon has been linked with moves away since Day One when some journo dusted off a daft line from Mourinho about a ‘new Maldini’. We have 3 decent LBs so why aren’t we talking about flogging surplus stock there instead of key players with no real cover? That’s not a selling policy, its just suicidally stupid.

Comment #62the latest one from the pardew excuse bingo is we are unable to attract players as we aren’t in London!
Funny, never seemed to be a problem for KK and SBR though.
The fact we have a prat who says ” Thank god we ‘re not in Europe” wouldn’t be a factor then Alan?

Comment #66Krull will leave in January along with sissoko and santon and Colo
I really think we should get Carroll ,for the rest of his career he would have a lot to make up for but we know what Carroll feeds on ,guaranteed with the buzz of back in black and white and his true grit and Ariel threat along with his hold up play ,I reckon we could get him firing on all cylinders again and scoring for fun ,I think he thrives because of his love for Newcastle and feeds of the fans here who love him ,it would be shrewd for Ashley to get him back ,offer Ben arfa and 5 million ,if Ashley wanted he could sell him in 2 seasons for 50 million quid if he become the real Andy Carroll we know he is
