Newcastle Back In For Remy Cabella

Now that France is out of the World Cup, Newcastle will make a fresh approach for Remy Cabella, the 24 year-old Montpellier midfielder who didn’t get any playing time at the World Cup, although he was in France’s final squad of 23.

Remy Cabella – please sign me Newcastle

There is news today that Lee Charnley will again be talking to Montpellier officials about a deal, after our initial bid of €8M (£6.4M) was turned down by the French club, and their outspoken 70 year-old Chairman Louis Nicollin said he wanted twice that amount.

But Cabella is keen to join Newcastle, and that will be in our favor, and maybe if we can go in with a good improved bid, we could get the promising player through the door.

Newcastle really have to be more bold in their pursuit of the top targets this summer, and to try to squeeze the very best deal out of the selling club every time – sometimes counts against us.

And we need another top signing soon, to go with last week’s acquisition of Siem de Jong _ which we feel was an excellent signing by the club.

Here’s hoping it will happen – and happen soon too.

Got to dash for my train now ….

Written while on vacation in England.

Some decent performances always help Lilongwe – imagine Pardue putting in a few of those that would light up the mood in here!

I sifted through the entire gallery of images from training yesterday. Was a little surprised to not spot Ben Arfa, Marveaux and Santon in any of them.

Round and round in circles we go. The question remains: can AP handle the challenge? Has he or his ‘system’ or ‘tactics’ advanced, at all? Can he put out a team? I seriously doubt that, though I could be proven wrong of course.

I repeat. Bring in a new manager, MA, let’s see what he can do with this current crop, because we start selling them off.

    Jesper,
It isn’t his individual performances I am interested in. It is his team performances that need to improve – before everyone starts I am NOT talking about tracking back. Still, if he can get to where he should be and remove whatever obstacles he has had in his head preventing him from being a top player then great.

As for Pardew, I offered him the olive branch at the start of last season and if he had improved then I would have taken back my criticism of him. He didn’t do it consistently enough, and I don’t see his arrogance ever allowing him to learn and improve sufficiently. So he shouldn’t be getting another chance this year. Sadly, Ashley doesn’t see it that way.

Cyprus…so far we haven’t really changed the team that finished so poorly! The player who plays in the hole has just changed first name and then we have added a ginger who will have no impact what so ever!

Pardue will start where he finished off last season 🙁

    Charlie,
Really? Even though the local papers are saying they have been afforded another chance? That seems contradictory.

On another thought, do we have enough of a squad to have a separate reserve team training at the minute?

You are forgetting that we don’t have any of the strikers that started our last few games….. (I think Cisse missed at least the last 3)

    Jesper,
Ha, fair enough, my bad. I still wouldn’t want Campbell on loan though, I don’t see the point giving one of Arsenal’s youngsters Prem experience instead of giving our own a chance first. We just end up in the same scenario next summer missing an experienced striker, and Pardew too afraid to give our kids a chance.

I’d take Campbell permanently, and push for a loan of Jenkinson. At least that would give us a bit of leeway when it comes to bringing in a right back, and he wouldn’t be blocking any youngster pushing for a spot there.

    Charlie,
Just seen it in the Gazzette. Totally contradicts the Ronny. Absolutely ludicrous to be putting them into train with the reserves. Where are the people who kept saying how good a man manager Pardew is!!! This is hardly an example of that!

At the very least, if we want to sell them they should be training with our better players to get them at a level someone might be interested in, as well as giving the defensive players staying something more to play against.

I think the Gazzette is more likely to be accurate as they still have their access to the club unlike the rags from Thomson House.

On another note, how does Ben ARfa get a paunch as a pro footballer? Was nobody keeping an eye on him while he was away?

Personally I’m not that bothered about Marveaux as he hasn’t done enough when he has had an opportunity. Ben Arfa should be given a chance to redeem himself though.
Pardew will be expecting the supporters to forgive and forget after last seasons debacle, it’s a pity he is not prepared to do the same.

I think pards and co are in a dilemma who to bring as their leading hitman after losing gomis, lassoga & probably lacazate.and i think they r right ,can’t blemish them as there r limited options to choose from.so it is vital to secure cabella,we can use him upfront with cisse.

I very much doubt that pardew, like allardyce, will be able to change his dour, negative, ultra defensive spots.

It’s all very well Ash and Sullivan saying they want attacking football but it is anathama to those 2 dinosaurs pardew and Fat Sham. They simply don’t have it in their DNA. How can any club be so badly run to have employed both of them!!!!

It is ludicrous we have this buffoon in charge who is more concerned with Benny tracking back than creating anything and who thinks Colo, Willo and Saylor are all better than MYM.

pardew is riddled with fear and it’s always about ”containing” the other team instead of what we can do to the opposition. Absolute s–t of a manager.

its been alluded to on here benny has returned in not the best condition carrying a paunch
and he wonders why he is training with the reserves

rate them or not colo and Sammy drummet were all back over a week ago doing extra training to get ready for the season Sammy and dummett realising its gonna be a big season for both

benny claims he wants to play and stay and comes back looking big and none to bothered
if he wanted to get back in the first team he could have at least been bothered stay in shape

The pictures I’ve seen of benny he’s looked slimmer than last season

This talk of training with the reserves does seem to have some juice but people are saying “look there he is with the other first team squad” when infact the ones where he is pictured are the ones where they’ve just reported back for tests, not the actual training pics

    Confusion rains and rumours start
