Agreement Reached On Debuchy Deal – Good For Magpies

Get French Football News is reporting that Arsenal, Newcastle and Mathieu Debuchy have reached agreement on his transfer to Arsenal, and the announcement of the deal is imminent.

Mathieu Debuchy – agreement reached

The deal is said to be for an initial £10M plus bonuses that will amount to 2.5M depending on the number of games Debuchy plays for Arsenal.

That’s £2M more than initial reports which said the deal was for an initial £8M plus £2M in potential bonuses.

And since Mike Ashley wanted £12M for the player,  if Debuchy does well at Arsenal Newcastle will receive £12.5M for a player we paid Lille £5.5M for 18 months ago – so if the news is accurate – that’s a good deal by any measurement.

Mathieu has agreed a four year deal – which is the time he had left on his five and a half year deal at Newcastle.

Newcastle have been linked with a number of top right backs in the last few weeks, with the favorite being Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord, who is the current Dutch first choice right-back.

Mathieu played 46 times for Newcastle in his 18 months at the club, and was one of Newcastle’s best players last season.

We wish him the best of luck at Arsenal.

    Well I never….

Cracking fb just hope we replace him rather than try utilising one of our current other players

I think its more important that we sign a creative midfielder and a striker, after all, we have both Santon an R Taylor who can play right back, albeit nowhere near the standard of debs.

Why is it good that we sell our best players and replace them with frees and cheaper players? It can only end in disaster.

He wasn’t one of our best players, he was our best player. We will really struggle to replace his quality with the money available

Hope we spend it on a striker before trying to replace him, I’d rather see a proven goalscorer up front and have Santon come to RB and give Haidara the LB spot.

You are right like, it’s a shambles. We do however have ready made replacements in defence through youth if they are given time and games. And we’re yet to see Yanga-Mbiwa get a long string of games to show if he can suitably replace Colo.

The wings are a real problem because there we have playing a workhorse striker, three inconsistent and unfancied frenchmen who we’re apparently trying to ship out, and then 22 year old ‘prospects’. And Jonas.

In all seriousness for the 14/15 season I think most would like to see Debuchy & Cabaye replacements, a winger, and 2 strikers. Other areas can wait till next january/summer.

We’ve been discussing all of this since last summer when nothing was done OhShola mate. A pile of bollocks is what it is. The squad is horribly weak. We need players now!’ Wtf is going on? We keep selling and not replacing. This is a recipe for disaster, especially with Pardew remaining at the helm. Benny and Marv hate him. Many others probably have no confidence in him. Who is in charge of this pack of idiots?

By move forward I suppose you mean continue to act like a club with no clue and no hope ethiotoon mate? This is past a joke now. Bring in 6 good players and clear out the dross before it’s too late and we begin losing games when it counts.

Hang guys, before you get carried away expecting a replacement for Debuchy this window.

Debuchy’s been sold to pay for Cabella. So if we want a RB or a striker, there’ll surely be the need for more sales to pay for one or both.

    Good innit!

Yeah Debuchy profit I think has paid for Siem De Jong !

Should still have took Campbell on loan would have been useful as a striker/forward to bring on to stretch teams with his pace

Its pretty embarrassing on the club website Debuchy is the first face you see advertising season tickets….

£10m is alright. Unless we use Anita there (though it’s likely he’ll spit the dummy out and be off in January)

Harrumph! All I can say is there will be a time when Ashley will regret this bollocks. Who sells top players before properly lining up replacements? This is a pathetic disgrace from a fool and his lackeys.

Sorry Ed but how is the deal good for magpies? It’s terrible? The club won’t see a penny of it like we didn’t see the £20m from Cabaye? Or the £35m from Carroll? I agree with whoever said why can’t Ashley just die? I wish he would.
