Newcastle After Top Young Defender

Newcastle are reported to be interested in teenager Joe Gomez of Charlton, who was one of the players that starred in England’s European Championship run – when we went all the way and beat Germany on penalties in the final. The news is an exclusive in the South London Press.

Joe Gomez – Newcastle interested in 17 year-old center-back

Newcastle had young goalkeeper Freddy Woodman and forward Adam Armstrong also play very well for the England team in that tournament.

The 17-year-old center-back is currently a top young player and the news in south London is that Newcastle are interested in signing the young defender.

However Alan Pardew’s former club are keen to keep the lad, after he was scouted by a number of clubs at the European Championships,  where a lot of the England players excelled.

Unfortunately that wasn’t true in the World Cup in Brazil for our senior England players.

Here is some information on the defender that’s taken from the Charlton web-site:

Central defender Joe has been a regular this season, and also featured prominently last term as well, and represented England’s U16 in the Victory Shield before also earning an U17 call-up.

Level-headed and mature, he has some outstanding physical attributes required for his position, is tall and powerful with a good range of passing and can also get attacks started by bringing the ball out from the back four. Another Forest Hill School student, he hails from Catford and boasts electric pace and good leadership qualities.

Newcastle are continuing to try to bring in some of the very best young players around Europe, and it would be a real coup if we can get Joe Gomez to the Tyneside club.

LDJ was pretty poor -remember that. Glad he is away to find his fortune elsewhere.
Thinking he was a good player suggests a poor assessment of PL requirements. Maybe those who thought he was good need to change their game. Could I suggest ladies wrestling.

Was chatting to a lad who still goes to games the other day….

he wasnt fussed on ldj coming back, but also said it would have been interesting to see him in a more confident team, being played in his prefered position, with a bit of creativity around him AND while he himself maybe gained some confidence in a pre season. Good luck to him anyway

Montpellier Chairman Louis Nicollin has told our colleagues at ML Actu that he has found an agreement with Newcastle to sell them Remy Cabella.

Newcastle have agreed a structured deal which could rise to as high as €16m, if bonuses are met. The player is currently on holiday in Corsica, and has yet to agree personal terms with Newcastle. His holiday is expected to be cut short so that he can travel to England to try and complete his move to the club.

Hooray! If true this transfer window is turning out quite well so far, just need 2 good strikers yet and another CB ideally. Let’s just hope Pards doesn’t ruin Cabella trying to turn him into another wing back.

Im so glad this summer is actually turning into a positive one as regards to transfers. And we are not being put through the same Bs we had to endure last summer or January for that matter.
All we need now is an attack minded coach to be put in place and were cooking with gas. Ashley might have seen the light and replaces Pardew. For me would be the best transfer of the window

Could be looking good if we pull off Cabella, Jaanmat, Rivierre and a striker :

    —————————Krul——————————-

    –Jaanmat——–Willo——–M’biwa——–Haidara–

    ———–Sissoko————————Tiote————-

    —HBA—————-De Jong—————-Cabella—

    —————————Remy—————————–

    Bench:

    Elliot,Santon,Collo,Anita,Colback,Rivierre,Gouffran, Cisse

Now that would get me exited for the season . Long way to go yet though .

Very good if we can get Cabella -very good player. Cabella is from Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica, a French commune -so he’s probably visitting home.
To get the best out of these types of players they have to have other decent players in the team -otherwise all the effort of signing them in the first place is wasted – they will just be treading water.
So if he is to sign I will be anticipating some further “quality” – if not well -the mid table mediocrity will obviously be plan A.

Happy days mate, Im buzzing to be honest…….thought this would drag on all the transfer window until the last day. And get the usual Bs “We tried but it didn’t quite fit our transfer policy” B@llocks.
Makes you wonder what there prepared to pay for a CF if we have paid this for a midfielder

I still think we need (provided no one else leaves ) :

. A big CB to pair with M’biwa

. Right back if (when) Debuchy leaves

. A left footed left winger

. Another creative midfielder other than De Jong
    (Hopefully Cabella)

    . A 15-20 goal a season striker with Gouffran & Cisse as backup .
