There is news in le10sport today that Montpellier Chairman Louis Nicollin is still holding out for around €16M (£12.8M) for Remy Cabella, as Newcastle are said to be locked in tough negotiations for the skilled Montpellier right winger.
Remy Cabella is about to pack up – the play-maker of the team is on the verge to agreeing a deal with Newcastle, despite the interest declared by PSG and OM (Marseilles).
Remy Cabella was seen at an airport yesterday – presumably with his girlfriend – as he flew out to have a (fairly short) vacation in Corsica, after his World Cup exploits for France, although the 24 year-old didn’t see any playing time for France in Brazil.

There were even reports last night that Newcastle’s bid of around €12M had been accepted by Montpellier, but we doubt that’s true, but it does show Newcastle are getting closer to that €16M figure wanted by Montpellier, after initially bidding only €8M a month or so ago.
70 year-old outspoken Louis Nicollin is continuing to argue that since Florian Thauvin was bought by Marseilles for €16M from Lille last August, Remy Cabella is an even better player and should therefore also be worth (at least) €16M.
While the negotiations between the two clubs are said to be tough, they are continuing, and Newcastle could still make the breakthrough fairly soon.
There’s a little bit of hope in that statement too – we admit that.
