With Newcastle United seemingly very close to a deal to sign Remy Cabella, Newcastle sources are telling the Chronicle that there is still some work to do before Cabella becomes a Newcastle player.
Remy Cabella – in France’s colors
Reports in France are that a wage packet has already been agreed between Newcastle and the player, but the Chronicle is reporting that an agreement on wages still has to be reached.
But Newcastle should have no problem in offering Cabella a good wage, and the French reports are that they will offer him the wages Yohan Cabaye was on at Newcastle, before Yohan left in January for a bigger deal at PSG.
And our Chief Scout Graham Carr has been tracking this lad for three years, so assuming we can get him on board over the weekend, it will be another player who Graham Carr has scouted in France for Newcastle United.
The news of last week that Newcastle want five new players brought in before September, and as soon as possible, seems to be holding up – with the news that Cabella will be the first of the five through the door.
It seems we are also after right-back Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord and Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere, and we have made bids for both of these players, according to reports – and we are very close to getting Riviere signed.
We are linked with other strikers too – but it’s hard to know if the Newcastle interest is valid.
Loic Remy and Demba Ba are two former strikers at the club we are trying to sign on a permanent basis, but the chances of getting either of them to Tyneside has to be slim at best.
But if Newcastle can indeed sign five good players before September rolls around, we will have done very well in the transfer market this summer.
