The Chronicle (Neil Cameron) is reporting that Remy Cabella is due at Newcastle today to discuss terms with Newcastle’s Managing Director Lee Charnley on a six year deal being offered by Newcastle United.
Remy Cabella – secret signal – Newcastle are number one
And after several sunny days in a row in Newcastle, it’s now overcast and raining this morning (unfortunately), as presumably Cabella jets in to meet with Charnley.
We are not surprised there is some nervousness among Newcastle fans that there may be a last minute hitch in the deal, after what happened with Loic Remy 18 months ago, when a deal had been verbally agreed between Marseilles and the player – yet he eventfully flew to London and signed for QPR at the very last minute.
But the sooner this deal is wrapped up and completed and Remy Cabella signs along the dotted line – the better it will be for everybody concerned.
And if it can be completed today that would be great – and it seems the lad is a really skillful player.
Here’s some video of Cabella doing the rounds on the Internet at the moment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylqQVhtqWhg
It could be a good sign that Newcastle are now willing to spend some of the money they have available, and we almost doubled our first offer of only £6.5M for Cabella – so we hope it’s a new beginning at Newcastle and that Mike Ashley will spend the considerable money that is now flowing into the club’s coffers.
Notice that word hope in the above sentence.
Comments welcome.
Note: Sean Borland has a student season ticket and since he will be away in Calgary studying for a while he wants to sell his season ticket for the first half of the season. The price is £140 – which is what he paid for it – you can contact Sean at s.borland@ncl.ac.uk

Comment #161Rotonda…Cabella prefers to play on the right and Wiynaldum prefers to play centrally. For me they are two different players!

perhaps. but that’s because pardew didn’t want debuchy going forward too much apparently. and debuchy wasn’t very happy about it either.

Comment #163The other thing we should not lose sight of is that other teams will probably have improved with their TV dosh. Don’t know if Soton will be as good as last year due to them selling some decent players. So progress on the transfer front is a must – just to keep pace with the rest.

It was more to show that Janmaat can do a job offensively quite well.

Comment #165We are now being linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Eric Dier, a 6ft2″ CB aged 20 who is good in the air and also quite quick, I would be delighted to get this kid but at 20 would he be ready now, at times they can be, I have seen bits of this lad before and I was impressed with him, he would certainly tickle my tastebuds.

Newcastle closing in on sensational transfer swoop
0
13 Jul 2014Montpellier,Remy Cabella by Umar Farooq
The Remy Cabella to Newcastle saga looks set to come to an end in positive fashion.
The Montpellier winger is expected to be announced as a Newcastle United player within the next 24 to 48 hours, sources close to the club have told nufcfans.co.uk.
This morning, a picture of the midfielder on a helicopter surfaced on social media, leading to speculation that he on his way.
It comes after a series of tense meetings between Toon officials, Montpellier chiefs and Remy Cabella’s agent.
Yesterday, Montpellier coach Rolland Courbis finally said a deal was very close.
It is believed Newcastle had an agreement in principle for Cabella’s transfer in January, before Montpellier’s maverick owner Louis Nicollin pulled the plug.
Nicollin once again moved the goalposts last month when Cabella was set to jump on a private jet to Tyneside to discuss personal terms.
The fee, a sticking point throughout the negotiations has finally been agreed upon – thanks partly to Cabella’s non-appearance in the World Cup. He was an unused substitute for France.
The fee agreed now could be disputed, but Cabella’s imminent move to the Premier League cannot.
Nicollin valued Cabella at €15m (£13m) before the World Cup. The Magpies had a €8m (£6.5m) bid rejected in early June.
L’Equipe says the agreed fee is €10m (£7.9m). The Chronicle says it is closer to the €16m (£12.7m) mark. However nufcfans.co.uk understands the fee to be close to €10m (£8m) rising to €12.5m (£10m) with add-ons.

with Siem and probably Cabella as well I would not expect another creative type of player to come, it would be nice but I would imagine that a striker, RB and a replacement for MYM are what they are now looking for, we lost Cabaye and we suffered but with two creative midfielders now in then we are possibly better off in that area so I don’t expect anymore.

Comment #170Cabella is a fine signing but I am more excited about Siem in all honesty he seems a player who can make things tick over and has the history of being a leader, which we are sorely lacking
Colback could well prove to be a coup as well…so far so good I suppose still need Debuchy replacement and a few strikers
As for Grenier I would be amazed if we were still interested after signing Siem

Very true. Southampton have already found great replacements for Lallana and Pochettino. Maybe even Lambert with this Pelle guy. Also I wouldn’t be worried about them missing Shaw too much Koeman knows how to develop defenders.

Comment #172Keep seeing a lot of comments on Grenier possibley coming. Can’t see it now, he plays attacking mid/ top of diamond and at the moment we are stocked up in that department with SDJ, cabella, abeid, HBA, marveaux and gouf all wanting to play behind the striker.
A striker (lanzette, remy or ba) is needed. any other signing will be replacements for anyone that leaves…..cb out- a cb in.
The next Mike Williamson

Comment #173So we’ll buy loads of international high rated players and finish about 10th in the league. Pardew will say that we bought too many players and they need time to gel.

Comment #176Well, while many were writing off Mikey, I did say we’d make a few decent signings. It’s a no brainer.
It would be nice if we could get another three or four quality players on the back of de jong and Cabella. However, I’m not predicting much more except a centre forward, which we’re desperate for. I fear we won’t get the right man for this vital position.

don’t jump the gum m8, even if we get Cabella, Riviere and Janmaat if you then look at the squad the only half decent players we have with PL experience are Colback, Sissoko and Tiote, and they all play in the same position, we still have a hell of a lot of work to do.

You’re on the right track about our wonderful owner, that gift to women, football, Newcastle United and the world at large.
He may not be a young Lothario or an unscrupulous seducer of women but surely he’s a silver-tongued cavalier at the least.
As you say, our fantasising manager may feel he’s a young Lothario, a silver-haired cavalier, but there it ends.
Long may Mr Ashley be happy!
And you too sir, enjoy your day.

Comment #187I’m glad to see the Sissoko transfer rumours have died down but if he were to leave I’d like it to be now so we have time to find more than colback to replace him.
According to the rags Delph and fer are possibly on the move, if we loose Sissoko they’d be good for us( about 5m) Especially delph, good player.

Comment #197Now it looks like mbiwa is away I’m convinced we’ll get someone new in at cb.
We have to assume colo is going to be first choice so someone big and fast has to be purchased.
Out of the CBS we’ve been linked with I’d prefer van dijk. Richards isn’t tall enough even though he’s got the pace and caulker has the height but is too slow.
Van dijk is only 21, 6ft 4 and fast.
I’d love it if we signed him!

Comment #199Love to see Richards here as a RB first, and as a fill in CB.
We ain’t been linked to him but I’d like to see Rajkovic here. Top CB when I’ve seen him play, 25, 6’2 has positioning sense, good tackler and good Ariel ability, decent speed. Temperament is a bit aggressive and Hamburg don’t want him because of training ground fight. He’ll be available for pennies if not free. there you have it I’ve just saved Ashley about 7m.
