It seems that Newcastle United – led by Managing Director Lee Charnley – are starting to produce the goods in this summer’s transfer window, and after yesterday’s fantastic capture of Remy Cabella from Montpellier, the news is that Daryl Janmaat is jetting into Newcastle to have a medical and sign along the dotted line.
Daryl Janmaat – signing for Newcastle today
We had the news out earlier today that Dutch reports had Newcastle agreeing a £5M fee with Feyenoord for the right back, and we have to believe the wages have been agreed and therefore the next thing is for Daryl to take a medical and then sign along the dotted line.
The news is now being reported by the Shields Gazette and Daryl will become Mathieu Debuchy’s replacement.
It also looks like Newcastle have held the deal up with Arsenal for Debuchy until they have a replacement signed, and that’s another good and sensible move by Newcastle.
The news in the Dutch press is that Janmaat will sign a six-year deal with Newcastle, as Remy Cabella did yesterday, but there could be a hitch as Daryl is currently sick – so the actual medical may not take place until tomorrow.
Daryl played well for Holland during the World Cup and although he doesn’t have the same experience as Mathieu, he will quickly learn the ropes in the Premier League – and £5M is an excellent deal that Newcastle have negotiated with his club.
And keep your seat belts fastened, because we could see 24 year-old striker Emmanuel Riviere of Monaco as the next one through the door before the end of the week – if not sooner.
Things are starting to look up a bit at Newcastle. 😀
Note: Sean Borland has a student season ticket and since he will be away in Calgary studying for a while he wants to sell his season ticket for the first half of the season. The price is £140 – which is what he paid for it – you can contact Sean at firstname.lastname@example.org
