Remy Cabella jetted into Newcastle yesterday and completed the formalities that made him a Newcastle United player yesterday, and he became the fourth signing of the summer for the club.
Remy Cabella in Newcastle – signs along the dotted line
Cabella was seen at the Benton Training grounds and fans were there to try to get a glimpse of Newcastle’s new player, and he was photographed with Newcastle fan Martin Trinder – shown below.

There is some disagreement in the press on the fee which has been widely circulated as being 12M – but it’s probably anything between £9M and £12M and there seems to be some bonus payments in the final figure, as Montpellier manager Rolland Courbis talked about over the weekend.
At that time Courbis said the deal was 90% done – well it’s 100% complete now.
It’s more than a little encouraging to fans that Newcastle have got one of their main targets though the door, and we may even see a couple more players coming in this week.
It’s widely being reported that right back Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord and striker Emmanuel Riviere of Monaco are the next two who could arrive through the door.
Comments welcome.
Note: Sean Borland has a student season ticket and since he will be away in Calgary studying for a while he wants to sell his season ticket for the first half of the season. The price is £140 – which is what he paid for it – you can contact Sean at s.borland@ncl.ac.uk

Comment #1We have been linked with Rodwell now, but I think midfield signings already completed.
We have Collback, Tiote, Jonas, SDJ, HBA, CAbella, Abeid, Anita, Sissoko, Gouffran, Bigi, Perez.
We also have defenders who can play as wingers like Santon and Raylor.
I’m not sure that Gouffran is midfield or striker.
RB position even if we don’t sign anyone is pretty much covered with Santon, Anita, and Raylor who can play RB even Jonas has played as RB in WC for Argentina.
Not sure about the future for Vuckic and Sammy.
If Mbiwa goes then we need CB unless that spot already filled by Satka, Good, and Streete.
I personally would love to have these 3 playing rather than buying another CB.
So.. we only have 1 area needed to strengthen, it’s striker department. Not confident about Cisse alone and 2 youngsters Campbell and Armstrong, definitely need 1 or 2 more.
Definitely need to start giving the English youngsters chances to play after looking at England WC campaign.

Perez is a striker not a midfielder, I agree we should give English lads some game time if they are good enough they should be in the mix, maybe coming off the bench for 10 -15 minutes and see how they get on.
I still think we need a striker or two, a right back and a centre back.

Striker is urgent need for me. I think Anita will play mostly as fb this season, so is Jonas. Although we have been linked with Janmaat, I’m not sure we will sign another fb, CB is more likely especially we have injury specialist like Saylor.

Comment #7Next WC our youngsters will be 22-25yrs old, the same age as current Germany squad. If they don’t start now, I don’t think England will go any further than current WC result.

The striker position is the most urgent I agree. We need two strikers.
But our defence has been woeful the past two seasons, so we need to bring in a good commanding CB, Janmaat will most likely be our new RB, and we should keep MYM.
The players we have brought in now are players we should have been brining in in the last two windows, our squad is still threadbare, I think the depth we need will have to come from our development squad.
I’m not a confident as some that we can challenge for cups or Europe with what we have. From what I can see we have not moved forwards yet but are heading in that direction by replacing some of the players that have left the club.
