Two of our summer signings Siem de Jong and Jack Colback have been handed starting roles in the game tonight at Oldham Athletic, with young Jak Alnwick in goal – with both senior goalkeepers Tim Krul and Rob Elliot not back from their summer break yet.
Siem de Jong in training – captains the side tonight
17 year-old promising Geordie youngster Adam Armstrong also gets a starting position in tonight’s side.
Ayoze Perez is on the subs bench and could also see his first action in a Newcastle shirt tonight, and Haris Vuckic is also on the bench, but we could see Haris moved out this summer, after only a so-so loan spell at Rotherham United earlier this year.
Siem de Jong captains the side tonight in his very first appearance for Newcastle and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – who is likely to leave Newcastle this summer, starts in central defense partnering local lad Steven Taylor.
Here is the side that Alan Pardew has announced for our first pre-season friendly game:
Newcastle United (4-2-3-1): Jak Alnwick; Vurnon Anita, Steven Taylor, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Paul Dummett; Mehdi Abeid, Jack Colback; Yoan Gouffran, Siem de Jong (c), Rolando Aarons; Adam Armstrong
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Massadio Haidara, Remie Streete, Lubo Satka, Gael Bigirimana, Sammy Ameobi, Haris Vuckic, Ayoze Perez

Comment #162Pizzicato – Hey that’s a good idea, it’s a win win for both sides 🙂 Doubt Pardew has the brains for such a feat.

Comment #166Sazzer – that sounds promising 🙂
Jamestoon- Ahhh thanks mate I knew something was fishy bout him.
When he’s on form he’s lethal, I’ll be happy to see him in the black n white shirt.
If that comes off plus Riviere we will be pretty much ready for the new season with perhaps an extra winger and defender to really add depth to our squad.
I’ve been really impressed with Nufc this transfer window and full credit must go to Lee Charnley.
