Newcastle Striker Target Close To Turkish Move

There were noises about a week ago that Newcastle were trying to bring Demba Ba back to Newcastle, but that seems like that will not happen as the former Newcastle striker is close to a move to Turkish side Besiktas.

Demba Ba – while a Newcastle player

The Mirror is reporting today that Besiktas are trying to get Demba Ba on loan for a season, before they have to decide whether to take him permanently next summer – with his wages of £80K/week seemingly a barrier to the permanent deal.

But it’s not surprising that Chelsea would prefer to sell him permanently this summer, and it seems the Turkish club have already agreed a fee with Chelsea that is less than £10M.

So if Newcastle are really interested in bringing the striker back to Newcastle, where he scored 29 goals in 58 games for us in 18 months, now’s the time to make the move.

The Turkish club’s President Fikret Orman had this to say about the Senegal striker:

“Demba Ba is an excellent player and we have been in talks with Chelsea for a long time. Chelsea initially wanted £10M for Ba, but we have negotiated a price we are happy with.”

The Senegal international is now 29 and scored just eight goals in 28 appearances for Chelsea last season, and while at the Pensioners for 18 months he played 51 games and scored 14 goals.

And with Diego Costa being signed by Chelsea for around £32M, it’s clear Demba will not get many games for them next season, and it’s time to move on.

The Besiktas officials are already in London trying to arrange a loan deal where they will reportedly pay most of Ba’s salary for a year.

Newcastle have very little chance of signing this player this summer, although we need some very good strikers brought in before too long.

And Ba wants Champions League football and his age and wages would also be barriers to Newcastle United doing any deal for the striker, who was great for us at Newcastle for 18 months.

Newcastle need to bring in a proven PL goalscorer this summer – but it doesn’t look like it will be Demba Ba.

Ba did well for us when he used us as a stepping stone. Not having a go at him as I think this could be the norm at Newcastle these days.

Dont think he was ever coming back.
