Riviere Passes Medical – Magpies To Announce Double Signing?

There is news coming through that 24 year-old Emmanuel Riviere has just passed his medical, and maybe Newcastle are holding back the announcement of the signing of Daryl Janmaat so that the two signings can be announced together?

Leicester v AS Monaco

Emmanuel Riviere – passed his medical

The Chronicle reported this morning that Monaco striker Riviere had flown in last night to Newcastle after the two clubs had agreed a fee of £6.4M for the former French U21 striker.

The news that Emmanuel has passed his medical is being reported by Sky Sports – who are usually a reliable news outlet.

Maybe before today is out Newcastle will announce the signing of both Daryl Janmaat for £5M from Feyenoord, in addition to that of Emmanuel Riviere.

Janmaat passed his medical yesterday and reports are that deal is already done – and that he returned to Holland last night.

The 6′ French striker scored 13 goals in 36 games for Monaco last season – and it would be great if Newcastle announce the double signing today.

That would mean we have got six good players through the door by mid-July – which is (very) good going, although we need some experienced strikers brought in and another center-back.

Players already signed by Newcastle this summer are Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong and Remy Cabella – all for around £16M.

Comments welcome.

From last thread: @Blaydon-Toon: The one NUFC Stats made? Aye, I’d have it. Shame the fans seems to know what we want better than those making the buggers.

Not sure on Richards seems to have fallen by the wayside I know he has a lot of competition but has bad injury record and his wages would be a problem – having said that if we signed him and he got a decent run of games could prove a real bargain worth a put at reasonable price

@Belfast: Puma has shown with the Arsenal kit that they can do decent strips. They’ve only done one decent kit for us (season we finished 5th) and I didn’t mind last seasons in fairness.

Has anybody seen the Villa fans on Twitter? They’re going f’ing ballistic about a rumour with absolutely no substance.

i’m not 100% on this lad but obv our scouting system hasnt really failed us yet so who am i to judge !

he looks just as good as remy when he has a good game very fast and skillfull but he’s very arfa esk in consistancy.

still i hear 5mil for this lad 5 mil for jan and 7mil +bonuses for cabella so again great bargain hunting by the club.

is reviera an upgrade on cisse ? i bloody hope so.

Don’t think Hernandez is best playing up top on his own, works well playing off of a partner. Rather we go all out for a top striker but these days that’s upwards of £15 million.

I know we like a nice injury to drive the price down but look wat happ3ned to raylor after being ahead of schedule and gosling took an age to get back
So for that money id buy a strikers with perfectly working knees

Benteke is injured with the same injury that Raylor had and I think the same injuries Shearer sustained, is it a risk as Manxpie says….HELL NO, proven goalscorer who is a beast in the air and with the ball at his feet. Anyone not wanting him is mad, Janmaat deal or lack of deal is beginning to become worrying, I have also heard a rumour that the deal has collapsed. He did pass his medical and a fee has been agreed but the lad hasn’t signed a contract yet so technically still belongs to Feynoord

Hernandez has played most of his career as a lone CF even at Man Utd, Rooney used to play out wide or behind him, his movement is really good and he is a guaranteed 20+ goal player

If the Janmaat deal does break down which I don’t think will happen then Richards would be a good choice, a very good fullback if he can stay fit with the added bonus that he can play as a CB if we have an injury crisis.

    If we played 4-2-3-1

Siem just behind he wont be far off the top, aswell as Cabella and Gouffran.

We just need to ensure he gets service and he will be a great buy. Siem certainly adds presence aslong as he does not track all the way back.

Didn’t Ba have a ticking time bomb for a knee? He didn’t do bad at all with 1 knee, the other thing you are missing massively here is that Benteke is young and will play weekly when he returns. Gosling was awful before he signed and remained awful after his injury

Starting to get a bit worried actually about Janmaat the way our club is set up we have put all our eggs in this basket and if another club like Liverpool/Arsenal or Man Utd come calling he will cancel the deal !!

I think he is possibly signed and its the Debuchy situation thats causing the issue because we like money up front etc and it might be that we are trying to get a player from them which is causing the issue

Knowing our luck Arsenal will sign Janmaat no one else will come in for Debuchy and we will be left with an angry player who does not want to play!!! Lets hope not!!!!

Twatter seems to have gone totally quiet on nufc transfer front. Wouldnt be surprised if ashley himself sabotages a deal. Pretending to buy players and then pretending “something” went wrong. Would not put that past him.

See all the wums are doing the rounds saying that Liverpool have hijaked the Janmaat signing. Complete rubbish, they are waiting for him to come back from Holland after tying his loose ends up at home, nothing more. They could have anounced him yesterday evening, but AP didn’t have time as he had to head to Lancs so only met him briefly before getting a photo taken, presumably by a Victorian camera.

if they could have announced it yesterday evening then why has it still not been announced, you are probably right but you have to admit that it is a bit odd, why not just say he has signed a contract for us, end of, easy as that ?
