There is news coming through that 24 year-old Emmanuel Riviere has just passed his medical, and maybe Newcastle are holding back the announcement of the signing of Daryl Janmaat so that the two signings can be announced together?
Emmanuel Riviere – passed his medical
The Chronicle reported this morning that Monaco striker Riviere had flown in last night to Newcastle after the two clubs had agreed a fee of £6.4M for the former French U21 striker.
The news that Emmanuel has passed his medical is being reported by Sky Sports – who are usually a reliable news outlet.
Maybe before today is out Newcastle will announce the signing of both Daryl Janmaat for £5M from Feyenoord, in addition to that of Emmanuel Riviere.
Janmaat passed his medical yesterday and reports are that deal is already done – and that he returned to Holland last night.
The 6′ French striker scored 13 goals in 36 games for Monaco last season – and it would be great if Newcastle announce the double signing today.
That would mean we have got six good players through the door by mid-July – which is (very) good going, although we need some experienced strikers brought in and another center-back.
Players already signed by Newcastle this summer are Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong and Remy Cabella – all for around £16M.

Collapsed lung is hardly a checkered injury history.
Ba has a diagnosed condition that COULD be problematic. Thankfully it hasnt been.
The reality is that unfortunately you never know how the body will react. Shearer came back from his injury. Bodies react differently and repair differently and to different degrees.
As for Benteke, I’d hardly say it is a huge concern. But then perceived risks would have to be measure relative to the cost.

Comment #86Spoof, as mentioned it’s minor stuff. Speaking of taking a overseas job, I think there are many things to take care of administratively, like suggested.
I just want tosay… sit back and relax first. Don’t keep circulating unfounded speculations or rumors saying someone’s gonna hijack him or the deal was collapsed. That made even less sense.

Comment #87Arsenal have announced that Debuchy will sign for them on Thursday, it wasn’t a press conference just an informative statement to allow their fans to know what is happening, yet here we are knowing bugger all, but then we always knew that some clubs are professional and some clubs aren’t.

It could be that they are wanting to do a double announcement.
Clubs like Newcastle get very little coverage as it is.
Sky barely even mentioned Cabella. By annoucning two in one we will increase coverage, limit effort on journalists parts and those involved in arranging press.
EG why get interviewers and camera crew in for 2 days running when you can do both in one day.
Could be down to editing. Could be that Pardew was away last night and we tend to favour announcements made in the evening.

Calm down its hardly unprofessional to do this pal.
Press conferences have to be scheduled. Doing it this way is in a way more professional than throwing it out there will little preparation.
Perhaps Arsenal could confirm as Debuchy did himself in a french paper the other week.
the truth will out

I’m not suggesting or speculating anything all I am saying is that it is odd that nothing has been officially said, why are they keeping us in the dark, do they not realise that the fans are their customers, why treat us like this.

Comment #95I just think that making a statement, not a press conference just a statement like Arsenal have to inform the fans as to what is happening would for me be common courtsey, I don’t think I am asking for too much.

Comment #97£30m income from the sale of 2 players used to bolster the squad with (hopefully) 6 new players and still got £4m in the kitty. Could even have 7 new faces in if the Debuchy deal gets us Sanogo on loan. All very good business in my book and the club have not even touched the profits made due to the increased revenue via the much improved EPL & TV deals.
Still require CB and main forward. For me i would offload Saylor & Williamson for approx £5m in favour of Curtis Davies and Harry Maguire who could be got for £8m combined and club would have broke even in terms of income from sales and new buys. that would mean out if the profits big mike would only have to sanction upto £15m for the main forward player which for me would be between Remy and PEA. if all business of that effect gets done we will have a much stronger squad to compete all season and on all fronts.

Comment #101Okay okay, let’s go back to football.
Even we have Janmaat @ RB, who’s the other RB for sub? The Oldham game was a bit scary that Anita was playing there. Is he going to be that person then? What other choices do we have? Can’t see MYM play there even if he stays.

Comment #113Happy with the signings but difficult to see how this gives us a potent attack and a stingy defense. Even with Riviere coming in we will need a main striker. And Colo is injury prone now. Willo is a steady defender in the box but that’s all he is. Saylor just has never matured properly.

Comment #117Just watched Rivières goals from last year. He looks like he can finish and has pace . I think he would be a great addition to the team. At least Pardew has recognised the areas which needed strengthening and gone out and done something about it. I’m happy with the signings so far and reasonably optimistic. I won’t miss debuchy at right back, he’s moaned too much since arriving and left us open at times with his mistimed forward runs. I’m always happy to see a defender stick to defending and anything else is a bonus. Let’s see what this Dutch kids like fingers crossed!

Comment #118IMO we need another CB and ST after Janmat and Rivere. Anything less than that would put us in danger of not being in Top 10. Our squad is at most 11 – 16 EPL places quality..
