Wellbeck is nothing like sturridge, at least with him you could see potential whereas wellbeck’s got as much chance of being a good striker as mike Ashley has of being a good football club owner!

Grenier looks such a classy player just like Cabaye. What a addition he would be to side.

but sadly he won’t come here for sure.

Wellbeck is a beautiful footballer. Even when he is not scoring he is making himself useful to the team with his hold up play and creativity
From a goal scoring perspective, give him a good run of games like Rodgers gave Sturridge and he’ll be a prolific striker.
You saw glimpses of this when RVP got injured last season and Wellbeck scored 6 goals in 6 games for ManU.
All strikers need a good run of games to get going.

In all honesty, i don’t think welbeck is as bad a player as people think. I still he has the potential to be a goal scorer. Its the fact that he is totally over hyped by the media (in particular andy fcuking twnsend) due to being a man u player. He is used wrongly at man u, too, imo.

I want to be excited by all the transfer activity but we still have two untreated infections in our team: Pardew and ColoCinni. Until these two disappear for Good we are destined to remain mediocre. If Colocinni plays more than 25 games this season I see us getting relegated

    From previous
I did not say Grenier is a striker.. I just said and will say it again..
If we get Grenier, we can use siem or cabella as a striker…and
We don’t have to bother looking for skr
    anymore
Welbeck is much better than Hernandez
    IMO..

He can provide more than 15goals if he plays as a striker.
    Grenier… what a player…

@10 you clearly said we should use him as a striker

ha, I read that as clueless Niclas Bendtner, not clubless. I guess both fit well for him at the minute.

He is saying Welbeck would add 15+goals I think. Although given his love in with Grenier I can comprehend your mix up.

This probably concludes our transfers window? Unless someone leaves…

…it’s a good thing the friendly games are up otherwise we would probably just start turning on each other or start a new Ben Arfa discussion 😉

    Tequilla…. in fact everyone…..

Ethiotoon is Alan Pardew. Lets examine the evidence….

Exhibit A) Constant praise for himself, and chanting his own name.
Exhibit B) Earmarking players to play out of position, before they are even signed.

    Mi-lud, the prosicution rests.

On Welbeck, he is more proven and/or better than what we have available at the minute. Which in itself is a damning statement on our lack of fire power.

Thanls Lilo I struggle to follow his logic. He mentions Siem or Cabella as strikers, They both prefer the no 10 role as does Riviere .
We need a specialist no 9.

Jesper why do you think we have concluded our transfer bsiness ? We have a lot of dead wood to shift and still nobody to challenge Cisse for the no 9 role .

    Sorry for double post…

    Tequila,
Yeah, I know. I had this discussion with him earlier, if you can call it a discussion. Provided we get a proper centre forward in I expect to see us lined up with Cabella and Riviere either side of De Jong with the centre forward in front and Tiote with Sissoko behind.

    @ Ethiotoon10

Thing is though Siem is not what I’d class is a specialist in the striker role. He has played there but it’s not his best position.

Cabella is definitely not a striker.

Signing Grenier (highly doubtful by the way) & playing people out of position as you suggest would not help the team. If Pardew did that he would get absolutely caned on here & rightly so!

Dropping a nuke on the Ukraine would be by definition killing innocent people as the blast radius wouldn’t be just confined to the person who shot the plane down and of course there’d be the small matter of the contamination that countless generations would have to endure not to mention the untold impact on the landscape and wildlife

So no not the brightest of suggestions

Wellbecks poo. Although I do agree he’s massively overhyped by many he doesn’t bring anything to the striking department I’m afraid, unless of course we want another gouffran tracking back and winning balls in our box when he should be up top (I like goofy but the way he’s played as a defensive left sided winger ala Jonas is nothing short of disgraceful) remember when he first come and shit all over Chelsea? That’s been weaned out of him now in order to provide “cover”

Haven’t read all the dedications and postings to the two TOON fans – RIP thoughts are with you and most fans of football.

dodging in and out of work – watching the Tour De France

    But

Earlier someone was mentioning if the TOON were officially doing anything

The following is from the website
“The Club will be dedicating an area surrounding the Sir Bobby Robson statue for fans to pay their respects to John and Liam.
“The manager and players will also be wearing black armbands for both their games against Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix in the Football United Tour of New Zealand.
“Arrangements will be made to pay tribute to the two men at the Club’s first Premier League game against Manchester City on Sunday, 17th August. Further information regarding this will be announced in due course.”

I agree Scottiedog – Gouffran played LS his whole career before he came to Newcastle.

    ———————-Cabella————Riviere————————–

    ———————————-De Jong————————————

    ——Gouffran———————————————-Sissoko——–

    ———————————-Tiote—————————————

    Santon————-Williamson———-Colo——————-Jaanmat

I also do not think we will get another striker. I think we need a CB and a LCM, maybe Rodwell

Hernandez was the most lethal striker in the Premier League under Ferguson. He had the best goals per minute & shooting accuracy.

He is exactly what we need.

Welbeck and Hernandez are both on the same wages, 75k a week. I wouldn’t have to think long about which one of those 2 I would take.

So this is the right time to bid for lacazzat
Bcoz we can offer him better wage surely
    Mattroge/tequilla
How come playing siem or cabella as a Skr affect the team? infact it will boost our attacking threat. cabella played so many times behind a skr while @Montpellier
