This Man Is Getting The Job Done At Newcastle United

1:25 am, Friday, July 18th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 6 Comments

This is the best transfer summer window Newcastle have had since 2011, when we brought in Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux, Demba Ba and Davide Santon, and of course in the following season we finished in 5th place – so we have to hope that history will repeat itself.

Lee Charnley – Newcastle’s Managing Director
We don’t even have a good photo of him

And Lee Charnley is now the lead on all transfers as Newcastle’s new Managing Director, and he’s doing very well so far this summer – having got three excellent signings through the door this week alone – and having signed Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback and Siem de Jong earlier in the summer.

Lee has a name at Newcastle United for being quiet but getting the job done, and he’s all business – and Newcastle are certainly doing very well so far this summer with six good signings by the middle of July.

And as the top executive at Newcastle United we would like to see Lee Charnley write something on the Newcastle web-site periodically, to inform the fans what’s going on at the level he is at the club.

Better still would be if he gave a press conference, which should be in his job description – given that he is at the level he is at Newcastle.

At the moment Alan Pardew is the only spokesman Newcastle have, and it would be good to get news from somebody like Lee – who is closer to Mike Ashley – the owner – and it would be from a different perspective.

We had good vibes about Lee when he was appointed in early April – he essentially replaced the woeful Joe Kinnear who was sacked in early February – and it’s a case of so far so good for Newcastle this summer.

Now we need two strikers, a center-back and a play-maker – and we’ll be in great shape for next season.

Ed trust you had a good trip maybe the board knew you were coming so made an effort to get all these players in – shame you did take me up on an offer of a pint in Ipswich would have gladly paid for all the top work you do !

I think we’re all getting a bit carried away here. Lee Charnley and the club have done great to get these promising players over the line but I really doubt many more are coming in this window. After all the good work we might fall slightly short of building a great attacking side.

Ed do you really think Ashley will get us another 2 strikers, another play-maker and a center-back?? I really doubt it, we’ll be lucky if we get another striker in if I am honest.

JP I would rather another striker and a pacey winger would love Andros Townsend and take a punt on Vlaar 4m for experienced international – I know it does not fit within our transfer policy but we are still in profit from our business so far

We have only replace what we’ve lost… If Hba and marv goes were are no better off… We need another striker and at least 1 CB

We’ve spent all the Debutchy and Cabaye money. So we’ll only have a couple of million to go. Maybe we’ll spend it on youngsters who will never be heard of again, but it wont go on a 20 mil striker

Spent all the cabaye and debuchey money?????

    Hows that like

cabaye 24 mill 10 to 12 mill debuchey so at worst 30 mill

    de jong 6.5
    Perez 1.5
    Reviere 6
    Janmatt 6
    Cabella 8

We’re still in profit……so not a penny of the 80 mill from tv.

if we dont sign a top striker and a top centre half we’re no better off
