Six New Players In So Far For About £27M – A Bargain

It seems that most Newcastle fans are in just a little bit of shock because of how well the new era under new Managing Director Lee Charnley has started off at Newcastle, with the club already making six good signings  by mid-July and there’s still around six weeks left to get the three or four players we still need to make this one of the best transfer windows for a long time.

daryl janmaat st james park pitch

Daryl Janmaat – a bargain at just £5M

It’s just what the Newcastle fans needed, so we can rekindle our hopes that Newcastle are building a good side again after two poor seasons in the Premier league.

It augers well that Lee Charnley seems to have made such a good start as the lead man on transfers at Newcastle after in the two previous windows under Joe Kinnear we didn’t make one permanent signing.

But we are making up for those blank transfer windows this summer, and we are hoping we can still get three or four more top players through the door.

And one reason we can continue to get good deals done at Newcastle is because of Mike Ashley’s strategy of paying the full fee up front in cash – and that’s (very) attractive to the selling clubs.

Here’s a table of out incoming transfers so far this season and the transfer amounts are best guesses since Newcastle don’t release the actual fees we paid for the players.

PlayerFeeClub
Ayoze Perez£1.4MTenerife
Jack ColbackFreeSunderland
Siem de Jong£6MAjax
Remy Cabella£8MMontpellier
Emmanuel Riviere£6MMonaco
Daryl Janmaat£5MFeyenoord
Facundo Ferreyra£1.6M - Season LoanShakhtar Donetsk
Jamaal Lascelles£4MNottingham Forest
Karl Darlow£3MNottingham Forest

Of course we have received about £32M from the sale of Yohan Cabaye in January and Mathieu Debuchy last week to Arsenal – so we still have some significant money to spend in this transfer window.

We’ll try not to get too carried away (but that’s difficult), and we just hope that Lee Charnley, Alan Pardew and Graham Carr – obviously with the help of owner Mike Ashley – will press on and get the three or four players we still need – and who knows we may even get a result against Manchester City at home in our first game of the season.

That would be something.

Howay The Lads!!

whilst all this debate continues on who is to blame for HBA, the sense that everyone including himself should know that he is unlikely to be with us next season there, it puts a big question mark on why pardew should be recieving the blame.

evidence shows that not even pardew should be able to prevent a player performing well when that player knows he is unlikely to remain with newcastle the following season.
ba was changed from a goal scoring machine to a striker with no goals when he got moved out wide for the second half of that season we finished 5th just so pardew himself could put cisse there. That somehow didn’t stop him from getting that move away because now that others knew he had that clause he forced pardew into making him CF again as pardew would not want to have a carroll saga for the second winter running. So now that ba got himself back as the main striker he was bursting with goals week in week out and then in january he got himself that move he wanted.

the second player was cabaye, that player was a player who had a fairly disappointing season during the europa league season, the problem now was he wasn’t getting such an easy way of moving because the money ashley wanted was too high a price for others knowing he had a bad season, so as the strike failed cabaye was now left with just one option, he had to prove to others he would get lots of assists and score the goal, that is just what he did and now he was sold to PSG.

the 3rd and final player i speak of is remy who like ba and cabaye was unable to move to the decent club the summer he wanted to because unfortunately for him there wages were to high a risk for a player who has not been here long, so now he took the next best option and that was a move to us, if he were to read what people keep saying about HBA then the last thing he should be doing is coming to us on loan but no he still opted to come to newcastle and expected to be showing other teams he can score enough goals to be worthy of a move up to that team, like ba and cabaye he too proved that even pardew can’t stop a player who really wants to move to perform well enough for that move.

marvo himself this year knows he is unlikely to remain so he went and got himself fit, so he now has had links to other clubs.

which get to point where i ask why can’t HBA do the very same thing himself.

pardew might pick who starts and who is sub but what he doesn’t do is A) make the players meals, B)control the legs or make the passes and finally C) control the players attitude. these are up to the player himself and right now even rodgers would not accept a player acting in the manner like HBA is acting, just ask suaez.

I would imagine the fee we paid for Cabella is substantially more than 8 million pounds snd there woukd also have been considerable agent fees and signing on fees too. I would imagine the amount spent is probably closer to 35 million pounds in total.

We did get 20 million for Cabaye rising to 24 i believe and 10 million for debuchy rising to 12. We also got minor income fir tavernier and amalifitano probably around 1 million combined.

every one of those better than the players out ! even shola who i think perez is far more than capable of replacing him esp goals wise.

only slight negative is remy who wasnt ours in the first place has been replaced by either cabella or river (pick whichever you like).

all in all a huge team improvement and i’m looking forward to next season tbh.

a benteke and a dier would complete everything imo but i’m not going to be a spoilt brat because they have done a great job in transfers this window.

Even if we did pay 15 mil for Carroll, which is about 5 mil too much IMO, considering we sold him for 35 is not bad business really!

Personally would like to see him back but still think we need a fast quick striker in the Bellamy / Kevin Gallagher type mould…

To think Luke Shaw is more expensive then the accumulation of what we paid for six players.

IMO we r very lucky to get those six nice players.anyone on here who isn’t happy with this window will never be happy again.so keep ur voice down & enjoy….

I don’t see this as a “huge team improvement” (Croftus) or why Ed is cock a hoop.

We’ve simply done a decent job in replacing the want-aways and Pardew’s write-offs. However, we haven’t replaced the main man yet. That is worrying!

Yes I’m looking forward to seeing the new lads but fear it could be a long old season if we don’t get a top quality centre forward. Either way I’m pleased I renewed my season ticket.

I did say that Mikey would get some decent players when so many were saying he would trouser the money. As it would be madness not to sign a top striker, I am predicting we will. However, Mikey won’t be held to ransom and that is what other clubs and players will set out to do.

We are good in the homegrown apartment for now and a lot of promising youngsters coming up to take their spots.

But it wouldn’t hurt to upgrade some of our HG:s with upcoming players Ings, Dier, Lascelles, Maguire, Hughes, Cousins, Obita etc.

And maybe Zaha if his price goes down.

andy carroll might be a very injury prone player but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be bought. We were just as fussy about Ba and his injury, then we all got shocked to see that he didn’t get an injury at all, ba was now our goal scoriing machine until he was sold. Ashley being the tight man he is will certainly not be too happy to give money to a player who could be injured all season, so really if carroll were to arrive the chances are he would be given a pay as you play contract.

The negativity about carroll and his injury seems to be causing a big issue but there is also a big positive about having him. we all know that set pieces are currently rubbish, this is the perfect reason to bring him back. last season the ball would come into the box and be aimed at willo “our only tall player on the pitch” and the set piece wasted. this season it would be a CF in the name of carroll that we would be aiming the ball to, so all the misses by our CB would now stand much more chance of being scored by the CF also on top of that we would have a great set piece taker in raylor back in the team as sub.

    Wolfswinkel,u must be joking.
even Carr,s judgement is,nt always right.
Im so glad,in this case, we were too tight to buy him.
Which brings us back to who we will bring in, if any, as a striker(s).
How many readers really think Ashley will release 15-20M for a striker?
IMO i think Cabella will be our most expensive signing this window,so i think talk of Carroll ,Ings,Benteke etc are pie in the sky bull.
If we sell Krul and Sissoko,,and lets face it,there is still plenty of time for that to happen, then maybe we would realistically have the money to do that, but we,ve spent the Cabaye and Debuchy money so we are skint.
I cant remember the last time Fatman has actually spent a penny of his own money, let alone the Sky money,so unless we sell ,i think that your lot. Sorry lads.
