As promised, the Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has fielded a strong starting eleven for the game tonight at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin, New Zealand against Sydney FC.

Comment #1So central defender MYM gets shoved in at RB to accomodate, like me turning up at work and giving me a paint brush because they won’t pay for a painter.

Well done with the academy, must be very heartening for you, keep it going.
On Anita,I think they’ll be a place for him this season.I can see Pardew wanting a Dutch link up down the right hand side with Janmaart,Anita & SDJ. I also think because Anita moves the ball very quickly to feet that it will give SDJ a wee bit more room to work in.If Janmaart moves forward on the overlap Anita can cover for him as he normally does.

Comment #9Jail…it’s always the same with this club.
…does he honestly think something gas changed over the summer! Mbiwa is a CB and should play CB. If he needs another RB then he should tell Mr. Tubbs.

Cheers, I’m not sure how much longer I will be helping there though which is sad. A new bloke is taking over the running of it, and he is planning a reshuffle and from what I have heard he will be getting rid of any non Malawians (only 2 of us). Seems a bit daft as I just do it on a voluntary basis anyway, they don’t pay me anything. Anyway, we shall see.
I agree that I think Anita will feel more comfortable with SDJ who is used to a similar style of play. Time will tell whether that is the style we adopt or not though…
Duty calls, will be back later.

Comment #19Hopefully Raylor is looking after new club. He won’t or at least shouldn’t see much game time and we need to bring younger players through as well.
I would let Saylor go ad well and get another RB in. Could Good or that Satka kid be the answer to our short comings in central defense or do we need another CB?

Comment #22tds I agree. Taylor often bolts forward when playing CB which I find terrifying.
If he is going to play a CB at RB then play Saylor there and play Mbiwa centre for god sake.

Comment #24biased opinion, but why is the team touring new zealand? it seems like it would be a small market compared to coming to the usa. i know they did a tour here after get promoted but i didn’t follow football that much back then, now football (or soccer as we call it) is really starting to take off in america and i think the club is missing out on a huge market that they could tap into

We did USA a couple of years back and by most accounts it’s was a heavy trip and not particularly conducive to a good preseason (lots of traveling and little rest etc). I’d like to us do it again but with better preparation and organisation.

Comment #27AmeriToon they are playing teams from the Australian A-league in NZ.
Liverpool had almost 100,000 people at a friendly they played in Melbourne last year and Man United had over 80,000 in Sydney.
The market is growing fast and Mike Ashley is using it to launch Sports Direct in Australia.

Want to make a bet now that it will be Oldham followed by Australia next year ?

Comment #36MYM has actually played well at right back whilst with us, and constantly under preformed as a CB. It’s also friendly, a good time to give him another chance in that position. No need to get knickers twisted

Comment #37Slank it’s probably a good idea though. Manchester City just bought Melbourne Heart from the A-league and changed their name to Melbourne City.
As a result Melbourne City now have David Villa, Frank Lampard and Damien Duff playing for them on 10 game contracts until the US season commences.

Comment #38Jamesnufc86???? The games I watched MYM was terrible at RB. Started doing ok at CB though until Coloccini came back. Then he went completely out of fom because he did nothing but sit on the bench.

If your academy boss man decides that you’re surplus to requirements, it’s Malawi’s loss
There’s always a need for a defensive coach at SJP and I’m sure you could do a good job and some would say a better one than the coaches we’ve got now.
Keep smiling.

Here in our country, the majority of the people don’t know about nufc.
The only thing they know when its name mentioned is Alan Shearer..
