As promised, the Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has fielded a strong starting eleven for the game tonight at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin, New Zealand against Sydney FC.

We need to see a very good performance for the lads, in dedication to John Alder and Liam Sweeney, who lost their lives last Thursday on their way to support the team in New Zealand.

Comment #41Don’t really understand the MYM love on this blog from some people? He does have some positive attributes as he’s obviously athletic & can bring the ball out of defence but for me his decision making & aerial ability let him down massively.
It’s fair enough criticising Pardew for playing him out of position (one of my pet hates) but I think people are letting their hatred of Pardew blind them when it comes to assessing MYM’s ability. Winning a poor French league is different beer to playing in the PL, he’s 25 years old & has hardly been an international regular either. Suppose that’s Pardew’s fault as well.

Comment #42I thought he looked more assured at right back than CB. At least he’s further away from the goal line when he plays there. I can see why everyone likes him, big, strong, fast and reasonably young, but he’s terrible in any position.

Comment #47He looks decent so far. good first touch. doesnt lose his head in possesion. tonnes of pace.
Worth throwing on against a tired defence if we’re struggling to break them down perhaps.
