An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #45Devon, I havn’t bought a top in a while whilst Ashley is there and I especially won’t buy one with the Wonga logo on.
I even use Siena’s top when I play Fifa 14. Very nice place is Siena.

Comment #46Just read a comment that we are in talks to sign Mauricio Isla from Juve? It was posted on F365’s live transfer blog, so I don’t actually have any source info, but has anybody heard anything, or should this one be filed under speculation at best?

Comment #49Blofal – I know expat of old when he used to live in the Heed. I do not think he would be up for quoffing a few beers. However, if weak shandies, Babychams, or pink gins (with an umbrella in) are your tipple -then without a doubt expat could be your drinking companion.

why did spurs sign lloris to a new contract and then go on and sign Michael Vorm from swansea.
both are world class keepers and 1 of them is willing to sit on the bench?

probably unlikely as he is a RB. We were linked earlier in the window. Unless he we are getting him to use him as a winger (a la solano)

ah right. In which case, janmaat plays wing back for holland so he would probably be moved up to the wing. and isla at right back. I would rather pardew did not start signing players to use out of place so hopefully you are right and its just recycled.

Comment #61In Dummett, Aarons, Armstrong, Perez, Kemen, Campbell, Good, Satka, Streete,Woodman we have the possibility if developed correctly within the first team set up youngsters who appear to have the potential to progress into our team in the coming years. Granted some will not make it & if not we move them on.
If the high earners like of Guti, Marv, Obertan Ben Arfa & others have no future at the club move them on & if they are good enough develop our youth..is that not the whole point of an academy & development squad.
Look at Everton with Stones, Liverpool with Sterling, Southampton with Shaw all developing youth into first team players. Its great we buy young & promising players but we must start to intergrate them into our set up this season as apposed to buying in ore & stiffling the opportunity to develop our youth.

Yes I was surprised by young Aarons. as you say he’s got a lovely low cross that defenders hate dealing with.
– – – –
I have realised my contempt of Pardew is not a healthy thing so I am trying to see the good in things and today I was very pleasantly surprised.
I remain cautiously optimistic. last season we went to Norwich minus Cabaye and we played exceptionally well before reverting to type over the following games.
I can take losing as long as we are playing good football and trying to score goals. I’ve always said if pardew can lose the fear consistently, then who knows what we could achieve with a positive philosophy.
I think Cabella, SDJ and Riviere could just turn out to be very inspired signings, with aarons, perez and Armstrong bubbling away underneath. Nice awareness by campbell too, to play Arma in for his goal.

No matter what the opposition was, we playrd some nice football and used both flanks well.
I was particularly happy to see the kids do well and i feel there could be a few of them that will come through in the next couple of years.
I was also particularly pleased with the pace in the team which will only be further enhanced when Cabella Sissoko and Janmaat return.

Comment #70Today’s game was only a practice match so it wasn’t really important, however these games can be helpful and SDJ now has 2 in 2 so he will gain some confidence from that, yes against poor sides but a goal is a goal and they do breed confidence, Riviere didn’t get into the game that much but hopefully thats due to fitness and still settling down, but again a goal and an assist could only have helped him in the settling down process, Aarons was the one who caught my eye, unlike Dummit, Sammi and Santon when he gets into good positions he delivers a decent cross, which we cannot say about the other lads, a left footed left winger who put in some good crosses, now isn’t that refreshing, I don’t think we have had that since Laurent Robert ?

Well said. It would be so easy to hand them their P45s but players under contract need a buyer and there doesn’t seem like they are queuing up outside St James.

Yep I’d go for that. Really hope MYM and Abeid still have a chance to at least be part of the squad.
i wonder if the elite coaches going in at the lower level are starting to have an effect. We certainly do seem to have a few very promising youngsters:-
Armstrong
Campbell
Aarons
Kemen
Abeid
Satka
Perez
Haidara etc
Sadly Bigi seems destined for pastures new and
I’m not a huge fan of Sammi and Dummet. But overall, maybe not as barren as we thought.

Comment #77I reckon Haidara is our best LB based on recent showings.
Would be keen to see him being given the starting birth.
Wouldnt mind seeing what Santon could do on the wing.
He seems to have been coached poorly. When he first came he looked dangerous on the attack, always cutting in. I expected some goals from him.
I still think he could play a DM role well just like Lahm.

One of the reasons for preseason games is to see how new players assimilate into a formation that the manager is very likely to adopt in the league. His room for experimentation will therefore be limited.
I very much doubt Pardew will deviate too much from the formation and players he intends to use.

Yeah thats a fair point & yes i do remember the Xisco situation. It is harder to move on the unwanted players who have lucrative contracts & are unwilling to drop wage demands to orchestrate a move to a new club in order to get first team football.
My main concern is these players get first team squad places ahead of promising youth which would be much more beneficial for us to develop.
