Newcastle need two more strikers brought in this summer, but it’s not clear if we can get those strikers in on a permanent basis – maybe get one in permanently and then take a player on loan – much like we did with Loic Remy last summer.
Javier Hernandez – in action against Newcastle
And there are bound to be lots of strikers we are linked with this summer, and one of the rumors doing the rounds at the moment is that Newcastle are interested in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, who will likely leave the Red Devils this summer.
Javier would be a good acquisition for Newcastle for next season, but there’s no way Newcastle would pay the £18M quoted for the player in the reports circulating at the moment.
Javier has a good goal-scoring record, and while at Manchester for four seasons, after joining the club from Guadalajara, he’s scored 59 goals in 152 total appearances, and would add something up front for Newcastle – speed and trickery and goal-scoring ability.
New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has said he will not make a decision on whether to let Javier leave the club until he’s watched him play in pre-season,. which seems a sensible approach.
But a good deal for Newcastle could be to try to take the Mexican International on loan for the season, and that would certainly bolster Newcastle’s attacking options.
What do you think?

Comment #1.v.v or whatever it is!
The facts are Newcastle as a club hasnt spent a penny in permanent transfers for 18 months. Dont care why. It doesnt affect me as a fan and it doesnt affect you.
WHAT?
It doesn’t effect us as fans? How could it not? By not buying anyone for 18 months it directly impacted on the quality on the pitch both player’s and the way we played due to lack of personel! Thus serving up dross which us fans pay to see! Also the small matter of watching the team we love perform to a disgraceful level and disintegrate before our very eyes as proved by our relegation form since last Christmas. Not to mention the sale and subsequent none replacement of a vital member of our team!
So please tell me again how it didn’t affect us as fans?

where the difference could be is in the creativity, last season it was Cabaye and that was basically it, but if they are as good as we hope we could now have 2 with Siem and Cabella, I believe that that is what Pardew was referring too when claiming that we have more options, but then again he could well believe that Riviere and Perez are a betting pairing than the trio of Remy, Shola and LDJ ?????

…Javier Hernandez is a good shout on loan. Cannot see us spending much more money unless someone leaves.

Comment #11I would LOVE Hernandez in. I think I was amongst, if not the first to mention him in this window.
He would be a perfect player.
£18m is steep, I would imagine £10-12m would probably get you talking to the player.
I would prefer him over most being mentioned.
26 years old, and a decent scoring record, especially considering how many of his appearances are likely to be 10 mins or less.
Great player. Would love to see him be out striker next season.
Right now I feel we have not replaced Remy for the goals last season. Riviere still does not fill me with confidence.
Hernandez would.

Comment #12Spoof, that’s not just it though. It wasn’t only Cabaye. He did also have Ben Arfa and Marveaux, both have product in assists/goals. Both shunned and mishandled.
Whatever people think of either of them. Both can have product. Marveaux had the most assists the other season and per minutes on the pitch Ben Arfa is one of the top, if not top contributors to the team for goals/assists as someone posted. (It may have been Next Mike)
Mishandled and mismanaged, so he sticks with his workaholics like Jonas who had zero assists. Nice one, Alan.
The options have been there for him. Whichever way he deteriorates and scapegoats them, that is a byproduct of his shoddy man-management.

No thanks as why would we want to blood in another clubs 19y old player when we’ve got our own to worry about, it isn’t like it’s remy who we knew to be a stop-gap and a guaranteed starter as there were no other options!
I don’t care what gets spent aslong as we get what we need to strengthen because at the moment we’ve only replaced what’s left and are in the same position as last season minus remy
We can’t honestly add ayoze Perez to our first-team striker list as parsnip stated earlier this week can we? When we got him he described him as a development squad player so why the sudden shift? If he feels we can then I see it as the spending is over….hopefully not!

It doesnt affect us as fans financially. If you’d read what i said it was with regards to finances. Thats what the conversation was about – the clubs finances.
I went on to say that if we were to sign more than we’d planned to would Mike come and ask you directly for the money?
No he wouldnt so therefore it doesnt affect you as a fan does it?
It’s pretty obvious that the personnel on the pitch are going to affect the mood of the supporters isnt it.

Ben Arfa and Marveaux assist? and goals?
(Premier League)
Marv 9 apps no goals
Ben Arfa 27 apps 3 goals
How will we do without?
I bet Benny set up 4 aswell.
Sorry but I do not think you have a point. Cabaye apparently only set up 2?
I am basing it from here

£10-12m sounds about right for chicarito anything more then I’d rather we added a little extra and tried for PEA or lukaku (wishful thinking though)
Remy still hasn’t been replaced in my eyes either
And this isn’t writing river off its just being realistic

Comment #25PEA is supposedly available at around £7m as Dortmund have already signed two other forwards.
He’s also been played wide right for the whole of last season. He’s direct, a bit like Remy, and super fast, but we’ve already bought that player when we signed Riviére.
I would much prefer us to go for Benteke. Couldnt give a monkeys chuff about what price we pay as it doesnt affect me in anyway.

Ok get your point about finances (not that I’m arsed about the spreadsheets, what fans are?) but it still affected us as fans when no players were purchased which was one of your points was it not? Direct correlation as one effects the other

you have a valid arguement for sure.
i dont believe either marv or arfa have been missed managed that mush tbh the only critisism i have was that pards blamed arfa for a full loss and tbf to arfa he contributed a hell of a lot to the loss but there was other players on that pitch aswell as himself so everyone shares the blame imo.
my own problem comes from arfa or marv can completely disapeer for whole games and only pop up when they could be bothered and it angered there team mates who mostly was trying to win the game !
but like you say would that goal/assist per 1 in 3 games make up for loss in faith from the players esp as results were so poor in the second half of the season ? its prob a lot easier to say now the seasons over tbh but not at the time i’m guessing.
i’m glad marv’s gone and tbh even when arfa’s gone if they do cause upset to other players ! shame cos soooo much talent has gone to waste with them both if they would just grow up and take there careers seriously.

You’re missing the point i made.
Point was to argue that fans get too hung up on the financial side of our club. They talk about fee’s for players and how much we may or may not have to spend as if they have the monopoly on the truth.
The fact is that Mike Ashley runs this club as he see’s fit. And not one person who posts on this site knows for sure exactly what he plans to do or how he plans to spend money.
So what im saying is that as a fan we shouldnt need to discuss the clubs finances as it doesnt affect us at all.
If he spends cash and we get in players then great, we are all happy, but the amount being spent makes no odds to us.

Comment #31As well as penalties won etc. Would be interesting to see all of this in its truest reflection!!
I feel for all of our forward players, LDJ even said that he was asked to defend more than he 3 very has in his career.
Croftus – you make an excellent point about them coming in and out of games but HBA does more in 5 mins than most of the guys around him do in 60 mins, for these players to be effective we need to have the ball and unfortunately we will see the same with Cabella this season

I see you’re giving LR a hard time just as you tried to do to me. It’s opinions pal. Who’s to say you’re right and the likes of LR, BPC, Graeme, Check Tiote, Our toon and me etc are all wrong and vice verca.
I realised from a personal perspective that it was unhealthy for me to fixate so much on my dislike of Pardew. However, the points these guys make are valid and just because you don’t necessarily agree, I refer you to my previous.

Comment #34Always amazed at how people immediately declare certain players have been ” mishandled “. Without actually knowing what has gone on behind the scenes none of us can know how a player has behaved, or how disruptive their behaviour or lack of effort affects the rest of the group. In Ben Arfas case he has form for problems throughout his career, and to be frank any professional footballer on tens of thousands of pounds of your money a week returning from a summer break overweight for the second year running is asking for disciplinary action.
