The Daily Star is reporting that Newcastle are interested in three Arsenal players – they are 22 year-old right-back Carl Jenkinson, 22 year-old Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell, and young German attacking midfielder Serge Gnabry, whom Pardew would like to get on loan for the season.
Joel Campbell – would be a great loan signing
Newcastle have already signed Daryl Janmaat, the Holland first choice right-back, so we doubt there will be any more interest in Jenkinson, who would probably cost too much in any case – being an Englishman.
But Joel Campbell and Serge Gnabry could be two targets – and maybe both players could be brought in on loan for next season.
Since we really need two strikers brought in this summer, one of them will probably be a loan signing and Joel Campbell would fit the bill perfectly.
Serge Gnabry – top young German attacking midfielder/winger
Serge is a potential star of the future, but the only problem we have with bringing Serge in on loan, is that could limit the playing time of some of our very own youngsters – like Adam Armstrong, Adam Campbell and Rolando Aarons.
Campbell has never played for the Arsenal first team in a competitive game – but he has been out on loan over the last three seasons, and played a total of 111 games with 17 goals and 18 assists at the following clubs:
Club Games Goals Assists Olympiacos Piraeus 43 11 12 Real Betis 33 2 3 FC Lorient 27 4 3 Puntarenas FC 5 0 0 Deportivo Saprissa 3 0 0 Total: 111 17 18
And with the arrival of top Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal this summer, Arsene Wenger may think it best that Joel again goes out on loan.
Joel would be an excellent loan signing for Newcastle, and who knows – we may even be able to get him as a permanent signing before September rolls around.
What do you think?

What does this say about our own crop of youngsters coming through if we were to go and loan young lads from other clubs and chuck them in to the first team squad.
Would sooner give Arma…..Rola and Satka more chances to shine than do another PL club a favour by giving there lads PL experience

Comment #4I think this just goes hand in hand with the fear some of us have that
a) our youngsters are not good enough and to prove themselves
b) we are not going to spend money
I hope I am wrong, but at this point the club won’t get the benefit of a doubt.

Comment #6No thanks to all of them. If we were looking at a permanent deal then fine but I don’t see the point in loaning players who may or may not be successful and even if they are then they will head home and leave us in the same position. I’d happily take Campbell, but for a sensible valuation, £4/£5million sounds about right for a player yet to really do anything. From when I have watched him he seems to prefer playing off someone, not as a main centre forward so I don’t see him as our goalscoring answer although could fit in well to a group of three just off a centre forward.
Jenkinson £2million and back up to Janmaat fine.
Other than that, let’s just move on from here. Loans of unproven kids are a waste of time when we could give our own unproven kids a chance to sink or swim.

Comment #8Fine if Campbell is brought in on loan as back up but I don’t think he’s the answer. He looked like he had potential in the WC but look at his goals to games….he’s unproven. We need a senior forward to lead the line and a squad player like Campbell. We have 3 natural forwards on our books, sure Siem could fill in but he’s really a midfield player. Hopefully Cisse regains some form because at times last season he looked like he’d forgotten how to play the game. The players we brought in finally show some ambition so why not think big and go all out for Lukaku or if that’s not realistic take a punt on PEA.

Comment #9Why pay big bucks to improve someone else’s product?
Nile Ranger, if in his right mind, is out there on a free. He is better than the Arsenal kid striker.
Did anyone notice that Rolando’s crosses came in, but Sammys were blocked away for corners? Which is better?

Comment #10I am going to say Top 4 in order
Chelsea
Citeh
Arsenal
Man u
Liverpool spurs and everton fighting for europa league
I think man U will win both domestic trophies, as a big club like them with no europe to worry about should be able to fight on 3 fronts.
Toon 8th #optamism 😀
relegation in no particular order
qpr
burnley
liecester
i know they came up, but there is no fulham to save one of them this time, and i thinl the Makems will be better.

Comment #11I’m not sure why people view Lukaku as unrealistic. 2 Departures from Marveaux/HBA/Guti/Ober would cover his wages. Chelsea by all accounts are hardly asking an unreasonable fee – anywhere between £15 and £20 million which any top centre forward is likely to cost us anyway. Lukaku said last season his preference is to stay in the Prem.
He is currently training with Anderlect according to some stories in newspapers, rather than Chelsea and he and Mourinho fell out last summer. Mourinho has bought Costa and trying to persuade Drogba back as back up.
Ourselves and Everton are probably the biggest sides in the Prem that could guarantee him football.
I don’t think it will happen, but it isn’t as unlikely as people seem to think.

I think we will finish 10th again. Only because we have replaced departed players with players that will need to adapt to the premier league. Our striker department is still lacking and i dont think that Riviere is the answer. I also dont think our young guns are ready yet so when we are injury struck again i have no idea how bad the season can get. I think that if our new players do adapt quickley then maybe 8th place is what i would expect.
Relegated teams:
Burnley- even though they are my local team, i dont think they have the squad to compete.
West Brom
Hull- Europa league will hurt them this year.

Top 3,
City,
Chelsea,
Arsenal
4th – Man U or Liverpool
6th Spurs
FA Cup – Man U
League Cup – Liverpool
Relegation – Leicester, Burnley and one of Sunderland/QPR
Depends on what we do as to how we get on. Top striker and good centre half 6th/7th. Without one of those or either 10th/11th
Also, the NUFC strip that was posted on here a few days ago with blue conga and awful and badly aligned black patch is on sale in a sports shop in Jo’burg.

Aye, your three to go down is probably the best prediction, the only reason i chose west brom was because you have to choose a team which you wouldnt really expect to go down, i.e, Fulham last year.

Comment #28I wouldn’t see it as these loans would be blocking our youngsters way rather it would give them another year to develop and be ready to fill the spot next year.
And we would have a better first team this year because Gnabry and Campbell further along in their development curve.

Comment #35I’m a bit worried that we’re not gonna sign a top striker like benteke/lukaku/PEA/hernandez, as pardew has said he’s “happy” with our new look attack. Maybe he wants to bring the youth through and use campbell, armstrong, perez and riviere as our 4 strikers?

I haven’t heard anything of their business so far this summer, so I may be way off if they have made some good signings. But without Borini, Ki and Colback from last years poor side. O’shea and Brown another year older. Unless I have missed them make some very good signings then simply on squad strength, I don’t see them staying up. Poyet is an okay manager, but I wouldn’t say they were great other than a few games last season. They have just survived twice.
Martinez had Wigan playing decent football and just staying up each season, that sort of thing generally leads to relegation eventually.
Hull are strengthening significantly in terms of numbers, I think they will be okay when it comes down to it. QPR are poor, and news today says they are after Eto’o. Did someone at the club miss the memo on the huge debt they are in?
