17 year-old local striker Adam Armstrong is one of the Newcastle youngsters who Alan Pardew has big hopes for in the coming season, and the lad has already played four competitive games for Newcastle United last season, and on Tuesday night he scored his first ever goal for his home town club.
Adam Armstrong – after scoring against Sydney FC
And it was an excellent goal after being set up quite brilliantly by another local lad – Adam Campbell – but Armstrong still had two defenders to beat, which he did in great style.
This is what Adam has said in the Shields Gazette about his first goal for his home town club:
“It was unbelievable to score my first goal for the first team.” “I grew up dreaming of scoring for Newcastle – like every boy in the city – and to get it in Tuesday’s match was amazing.”
“It was such a buzz when the ball hit the back of the net, and hopefully there will be more to come.”
Armstrong certainly has the creativity, talent and goal scoring ability to become a big hit on Tyneside, and we just have to hope he can fulfill his promise.
