Newcastle Beat Wellington Phoenix 1-0 – Gouffran Goal – Video

Newcastle won again tonight against Wellington Phoenix with a good goal from star of the match Yoan Gouffran who put Newcastle ahead just four minutes before hall time.

In the second half Newcastle made a number of changes to give playing time to a lot of our youngsters, but still played well enough to get another clean sheet and another win down under against the Phoenix, after we had easily beaten Sydney FC 4-0 on Tuesday night.

Here is the goal from Gouffran in tonight’s game that gave us another win down under..

We’ll have a report of the game coming up.

Arma and Campbell would need to mimic Michael Owen (the Liverpool one, not the NUFC one LOL).

Not a bad runout against a decent enough team.

Hopefuly SDJ is nothing serious, looks like Aarons hurt the hamstring so again hope it doesnt keep him out of many of the warm up games as he looked impressive.

SDJ , Haidara, Aarons, Colo, Colback all played pretty well, Gouffran ok, MYM not so good in first half, better second.

Nothing has changed for me after these 2 games in terms of what we still need. CF, CB, playmaker please.

That was a good workout. Wellington played well.

Elliott…..did well but needs to improve kicking
MYM…….wasnt good. Maybe has move on mind
    Taylor….did Ok
Colo….looked ok but picked up injury
    Haidara….impressed with him.
    Abeid…..not good enough before injury
Anita….blew hot and cold…probable bench player
    Colback….impressive. good work rate
    Gouffran….best player on park….easily
Riviere…..strong and fast but not a target man
De Jong….class act but worried how easy injured
Aarons…looked great early. Sad to see him on crutches
Satka….looks good but needs to get into the gym
    Armstrong…..big future ahead of him
    Campbell….anonymous
    Perez….another good find..will improve
    Vuckic…get rid. Failef to impress
    Dummett…plodder

I was wondering what has happened to Willo Sameobi and Raylor who were all on the trip but didnt play today.

We definitely need a strong CF and CH. I would also like to see a quick quality right winger.

Watched first half before work and we did ok – for me we definitely need a CB MYM is very poor in my opinion Taylor has seen better days and Collo is getting on a bit ! SDJ was good to watch before going off injured can see he has a great football brain hope he is not too bad

Rivière has good movement but not an out and out striker think we have to splash a wee bit more cash for a proven goals scorer

We’ll struggle again next season, we don’t have enough quality to cover when our best players get injured.

our best line up should be
    …………………Krul………………….
    Janmaat,Mbiwa??,Colo,Haidara
    ………Tiote……….Colback………….
    Sissoko……..SDJ………….Cabella
    ………………..Riviére……………………
    cover…CB..S.Taylor,Willo
    FB…Santon,Dummet
    CM…Anita,Abeid
    WG…Gouffran,Aarons,HBA
    SC…Cissé,Pérez
we need CB,striker…CB which is starter Van Dijk,Richards…and powerfull striker Benteke,Lukaku type and if we can then bring Grenier as well…then we can have really good team as this looks better to me
    Janmaat,RICHARDS,Collocini,Haidara
    ………..GRENIER……………….Colback………..
    Sissoko……………De Jong……………….Cabella
    …………………….BENTEKE……………………………
    bench mbiwa,saylor,santon,anita,abeid,goofy,aarons,riviére,cissé,pérez
get rid of HBA and bring Grenier, should be on same wages and Grenier can cover if SDJ is injured as AMC

Mashley will have closed his cheque book now. No more signings for 18 months!

Pity he never quite sees the job through.

After two games, my thoughts on those playing:

Elliott…..Agree with Expatmag, needs to improve kicking
    MYM…….Still looks nervous. Very worrisome.
Taylor….Solid. Definitely not a full back.
    Colo….Imperious. Real class act.
Haidara….Excellent. Looks much stronger than before.
Abeid….OK but not good enough as first team choice.
Anita….OK but not guaranteed in new starting lineup
    Colback….Agree with Expatmag. Very Impressive.
    Gouffran….Back to his best. Excellent.
Riviere…..Has strength and pace but jury out IMHO.
De Jong….Very classy player. First on team sheet.
    Aarons…Very exciting. Similar to Sterling.
Satka….OK but looks too thin for a centre back.
    Armstrong…..Excellent. Very quick feet.
    Campbell….Jury still out.
    Perez….Very pleasantly surprised.
    Vuckic…Has no significant attribute.
    Dummett…Below Haidara in pecking order.

    Their likely futures:

    Elliott…………On the Bench
MYM………..On the Bench or out on Loan.
    Taylor………..First Team.
    Colo…………..First Team..
    Haidara………First Team..
    Abeid…………Sold
    Anita………….On the Bench.
    Colback………First Team.
    Gouffran……..First Team.
    Riviere………..First Team.
    De Jong………First Team.
    Aarons……….On the Bench
    Satka…………..Reserves.
    Armstrong…..On the Bench.
    Campbell……..Out on Loan.
Perez……………On the Bench (as he is Pardew’s boy)
    Vuckic…………Sold.
Dummett……..On the Bench or out on Loan.

Possible line up against Man City

    Krul
    Janmaat – Williamson/Saylor – Colo – Haidara
    Tiote – Colback
Cabella – De Jong – Gouffran
    Riviere
