Remy Cabella and Daryl Janmaat are expected to be joining up with their new Newcastle colleagues this week, after having a couple of weeks off after signing on at Newcastle, and they will both be taking part in the two games in Gelsenkirchen, Germany this coming weekend.
Remy Cabella – under the Tyne Bridge
Remy Cabella tweeted the above photograph of himself last night around 8:30 pm under the Tyne bridge via his Twitter account with the caption:
“Hello everybody Enjoy”
It could be that Cabella jetted in last night and will be ready to take part in his first training session at Newcastle with the rest of the squad having traveled back from new Zealand after a successful campaign down under.
Newcastle played well when we on both games and kept clean sheets in both of them against Sydney FC (4-0) and Wellington Phoenix (1-0).
Cheick Tiote, Moussa Sissoko and Tim Krul are also expected back this week, and of course Tim (that World Cup legend) will have two new Dutch team mates on Tyneside in Daryl Janmaat and Siem de Jong, who picked up a toe injury in the 1-0 win on Saturday in Wellington, and we’re not sure how serious that is.
Once concern with Siem is that he picked up a lot of injuries last season in Holland, and we have to hope he stays relatively injury free in the coming season at Newcastle.
And we’ll get some idea about the intentions of both Moussa and Tim, with both making noises about wanting to leave Newcastle earlier this summer.
We hope that doesn’t happen.

Mascherano plays at CB for Barca, so he found it easy to adapt to that role in the WC. Id love for Tiote to be able to do that job for the toon, but he has a long way.to go to emulate mascherano…although many players have a long way to.go to emulate mascherano.:D

I would quite like to see Cabella have a spell WITHOUT de jong, just to see if he can carry the creative burden if de jong is missing for any reason. We already know de jong can create on his own.

Comment #9I agree with you Markaccus regarding the Tiote vs. Mascherano comparison. But I meant it in regards to the 2 vs. 3 at the back debate. If your pairing of CBs isn’t strong enough, you have to find an alternative. That could either be found in a DF that regularly drops back or by putting in a third CB.

Comment #10Just watching the game vs Wellington Phoenix. A couple of positives after watching us play twice….
I’ll admit I hadn’t watched much of Siem De Jong but my god are we lucky to have him. Both his vision and passing are exceptional.
Haidara needs to start. Down the left he was quite effective as a LWB.
Colback is very solid. Very good player to have in the squad.
Riverie is fast and his positioning appears to be bang on. I have high hopes for him.
Gouffran so far has had a very good pre season. Hopefully with a better squad this year Pardew doesn’t run him into the ground like last season. You could see towards the end of last season the poor guy was knackered but Pardew kept playing him.

Comment #112 matches in two days over the next weekend 😯
I think we will see 2 different teams put out.
Injuries are a very real problem for us too.
Hopefully we come thru unscathed.

I agree. Deffinitely an option for us to try. Tiote can be class on his day, as long as.he keeps his head.

Comment #14Blofal – that is percy’s problem, he picks his favourites and sticks with them, until they are worn out.
This is why ideally we need more strength in depth.
I think we are getting there little by little

I think we didnt have much choice but to play goofy all the time, Remy became.uninterested, jonas out on loan (would have been used i think to rest goofy) and hba and marv just not doing enough. We had no really wide cover for him as a result. We look more well stocked with attacking mids this season, so i think goofy will.get a rest if he needs one. I am still predicting a big season for goofy.

Comment #20Im confused — why do we have a Southend supporter attempting to mock us?
Guessing its a keyboard troll who cannot even get the acronym for his own club correct…
I’d say a new low for a Sunderland supporter but hardly true! – i love the jealousy being so high that they have to come on here for something to talk about!
Get back to reading whether you can get Borini signed for a very reasonable 14m! Mug
