Newcastle On Trail Of England Winger

The latest rumor this morning about Newcastle United in the transfer market,  is that we are after 20 year-old winger Nathan Redmond of Norwich City.

Nathan Redmond

Southampton are also said to be keen on the player, who only turned 20 in March.

The news is that Norwich want to keep their youngster on the basis that they are hoping to get promoted straight back to the Premier League next season at the first attempt.

And we think a bid of around £3M may be enough to get Redmond on board, and the youngster certainly has lots of potential and played 39 times for Norwich last season with one goal and did OK.

Nathan was born in Birmingham, and joined his home town club at the age of 8, and he made his debut for the first team in the Football League Cup second-round tie against Rochdale in August of 2010, becoming the club’s second-youngest player ever, at the age of 16 years and 173 days.

He played 82 games with 9 goals over three seasons for Birmingham before moving to Norwich last summer for £2M, with around £1M in add-ons,  based on the number of times he plays for the Norwich City first team.

Stoke City are a third PL club said to be interested in the player, and have already bid earlier this summer for a player who has played for all the England youth sides from U16 through U21,  having made 11 appearances for the U21 side with four goals.

This lad is certainly talented, but it’s always hard to know whether he will make it and become a top player in the Premier League.

What do you think?

Van Gaal is the perfect manager after SAF.

Van Gaal has said to everyone, including the owners, that he is the boss and what he says goes. You don’t mess with me no matter how much we paid for you.

    Expat

Isnt one of one direction already a good footballer? Obertan would just be warming their bench, too 😀

I agree he is a good manager…. i was kind of trolling. Comparing the Luke Shaw situation to the HBA situation. It isnt really the same, as i doubt LS has been frozen out, it’ll just be a way to motivate him to stay in top condition.

Appologies for my ambiguous joke, everyone 😀

I don’t think Redmond is good enough, one goal is really bad when you consider how often he ignores the cross or killer pass and has a shot. We don’t need him, no better than obertan imo

Redmond is certainly not a “goal scoring winger” judging by those stats. It would be interesting to see his assists. If they are not better than average then he is no good toma prem side imo.

    Morning lads!

This could also be a way to deal with a player you don’t see fit enough:

We really need a winger that go straight into the team now, sadly lacking in that department. On another subject anyone know why we are linked up with West Ham, both in New Zealand and now the Schalke cup, is Ashley mates with Sullivan and Gold

We still have rumours about attacking players but it’s silent on CB’s.

We cannot go into another season with Colo, Saylor and Williamson again. MYM wont get a start and he is the only one with pace.

can see us having to win games 5-4…..

Just incase people can’t open it 😀

Lyon have denied that Clement Grenier was missing from training due to anything other than injury, amid speculation that Newcastle United had made a renewed bid for his services.

Newcastle tried to sign the 23-year-old in the January transfer window, and they have have been linked with a second offer for Grenier – who is also said to have attracted interest from Arsenal and AC Milan.

However, Newcastle have confirmed that they have not made a new approach and Lyon have backed that up with a statement.

“Clement was not training because of a program of rehabilitation after his injury,” said the club.

While a new bid for Grenier is not in Newcastle’s thinking, they are understood to be back in for Loic Remy – who saw a move to Liverpool collapse last week.

They also remain interested in Grenier’s team-mate Alexander Lacazette.

Ryan air probably did a cheap deal on seats for a big booking of 2 squads. Ashley loves a saving, and west ham need every penny 😀

    Mark…arh maaan 🙁

…I am too slow this morning….well in my book it’s never too late for a prof footballer (remember you treat those around you the same way you wanna be treated)

Coach dumpass should know better I think – I just though it shows how a different manager would act. Just my take on it.
