Newcastle Youngsters Get Big Chance Tonight

8:26 am, Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

Newcastle are in action tonight at Hillsborough, when we take on Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, but manager Alan Pardew is likely to rest most of our senior players and keep them fresh for the two games in Germany over the weekend, and take this opportunity to give some of our youngsters an opportunity.

17 year-old Adam Armstrong – after scoring down under last week

Senior players such as Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor and Siem de Jong are not expected to make the trip south today, but new boy Remy Cabella could make an appearances, after only just returning to training this week from his extended break due to being part of the French squad in the World Cup.

This is what manager Alan Pardew has said today:

“Having just got back from New Zealand, some of the lads need a bit of a rest, so this game will be a chance for some of the younger lads in the squad.”

“We’ll be looking for a result like the two we got on the tour, and a good performance as well, and hopefully some of the lads can perform well and give us something to think about.”

Lee Charnley has put together a challenging pre-season, and we have games coming thick and fast – here is the schedule of games the lads have in pre-season.

Having two games in two days in Germany over the weekend also means that Alan Pardew will need to use his squad wisely – and it will be a surprise if many first teamers are in the team tonight at Hillsborough.

We could see players like Remie Streete, Lubo Satka, Rolando Aarons, Mehdi Abeid, Gael Bigirimana, Adam Armstrong, Adam Campbell, Kevin Mbabu and even young goalkeeper Freddie Woodman get some playing time tonight.

Comments welcome.

Would be interesting to see if HBA and Obertan make tonight’s line-up. we will need some experience in the side.

The weekends games will virtually have to be two seperate teams as well, is the best eleven only going to get two run outs together ?

    Jail

It’s not going to be easy in Germany, two games in two days is going to be tough, We will have to play two completely different teams or we may be looking at a few injuries.

It would probably be the last chance to showcase the talents of HBA & Oba in the hope that somebody, anybody, will make a bid for them!!

There doesnt seem to be any sort of stampede to get them to leave NUFC, there is no queue of clubs fighting over them!!

Has there been any news on our injured players status?
Rolando Aaron’s looks exciting ,as does Siem.
Gotta say, I was wrong about the club not spending on players, my only hope is that Fraudew can utilise the talent at his disposal.

A bit to challenging if you ask me, we have only played 2 games and Pardew is saying his players are knackered already, the idea of pre-season is to get the first team squad as fit as possible and get the new players some game time with the established players, it’s not to give the kids a run out.

im going tonight and look forward to seeing our youth, obertan, HBA, have had there chance and im all for the youth now making a name for themselves, HBA is very talented when he chooses to be but doesnt work as a team player while obertan does not produce the goods at all, man u do not let good players go easily and they never put up a fight for him

Obertan is useless. We should send him out on loan to free up the wages or just pay out his contract so he can leave and make room for another quality signing.

I am so disappointed at the fact HBA my fave player seems to be on his way out of NUFC, so sad :(
