Alan Pardew has just announced his side to play Sheffield Wednesday tonight at Hillsborough, and the fourth pre-season game for Newcastle kicks off at 7:45 pm BST.
This is the starting eleven for tonight’s game in a 4-2-3-1 formation:
Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Rob Elliot; Lubo Satka, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara; Cheick Tiote (c), Mehdi Abeid; Gabriel Obertan, Adam Armstrong, Ayoze Perez; Emmanuel Riviere
Substitutes: Jak Alnwick, Remie Streete, Gael Bigirimana, Vurnon Anita, Haris Vuckic, Alex Gilliead, Jonathyn Quinn, Adam Campbell
This game will give Alan Pardew a chance to run the rule over some of our very best youngsters in Lubo Satka, Adam Armstrong and Ayoze Perez, our new signing from Tenerife, and Cheick Tiote plays his first game of pre-season, after having an extended break following the World Cup in Brazil.
And Yanga-Mbiwa gets yet another game in pre-season, this time at center-back and he will partner Paul Dummett, and maybe the manager is wondering whether he should keep Mapou on board for next season?
Mehdi Abeid again starts in central midfield alongside Cheick – and the French-born Algerian is getting a chance to stake a claim for a first team position next season – after he did so well at Greek club Panathinaikos last season on loan.
Promising French U21 International Massadio Haidara gets a chance to stake a claim for the left back position, and 17 year-old local lad Adam Armstrong also gets a start.
Youngsters Gael Bigirimana, Remie Streete, Haris Vuckic and Adam Campbell are on the bench for tonight’s game and could see some action.
