Rumors Newcastle To Meet In London With Remy Tomorrow

It does get a little crazy at this time of year on transfers – especially when Newcastle are involved – but there’s a huge rumor doing the rounds tonight that Newcastle are to meet with Loic Remy’s representatives tomorrow in London.

loic remy at hull

Loic Remy – Newcastle meeting with agent, QPR and player tomorrow?

We know it could be completely untrue but it’s from twitter account soccer sauce – and they report on all the breaking transfer news – and here’s the tweet that’s causing all the talk:

¨Just in:We understand Newcastle are set to hold further talks with #QPR and Loic Remy (and agent) tomorrow in London ¨

And it’s not too surprising there’s new news on Remy – whether it’s true or not – with Alan Pardew saying Newcastle were interested in getting Remy to Newcastle today in the local papers – after his proposed move to Liverpool broke down on Monday in Boston.

In our poll on whether fans want Remy at the club, at the time of writing  – there are 60 % in favor of signing Remy and 40% opposed.

Should Newcastle Still Try To Sign Loic Remy?

Loading ... Loading ...

This is what Alan Pardew said about Remy this morning on BBC Radio Newcastle:

There’s a lot of baggage in the way, but of course we are interested.” “He was a great player for us. I think Newcastle is a great place for him.”

We need somebody like Loic Remy signed – who is a proven Premier League goalscorer – and it could be that moving to Newcastle United is his best remaining option.

What do you think?

So the twitter guy is reporting a bid has been made in Caps while reporting the bid has actually been accepted right after. Sounds legit. Impeccable phrasing.

I hope this is not true, if we pay 13.5m for this idiot then we truly have lost the plot…add to that the 2m loan fee that’s 15.5m for a player who doesn’t want to be with us has rejected us twice and a player who basically called pardew a liar when he said he wasn’t injured but he had an agreement to not play in the final game…basically he refused to wear the shirt.

I find it astonishing that this muppet has a worse attitude than hba but is accepted by us because of a few goals….fickle bunch

I’m thinking we’re running out of time and options and this guy Remy is proven, despite his somewhat dubious and colourful behaviour.

Would prefer around 9M rather than the alleged 13.5M.

Just wondered why we never really tried a 433 with Remy replacing Ba on the left of a front 3 with Benny right and Cisse central. Oh well.

Really sad we missed out on Dier but imagine going for his CB partner at Sporting, Marco Rojo. That really would be a sign of intent.

I think you guys are missing the important bit. Remy as a footballer is worth 13.5m; what worries me more is we could end up having him on loan instead of permanently. That would be the bad scenario if we do sign him at all.

I just dont see it to be honest – where they going to put all this extra baggage he is bringing with him??

Unless they plan on burying P45DUE under it – Oh, what a lovely thought lol

Lisbon want 14m minimum for Rojo think he would be a good signing, someone mentioned Winston Reid the other day and I have to say he is someone I really rate, maybe a pay as you play deal for Micah Richards could be another option

I would have thought that a fee would have to be agreed before talks with the player takes place.

It seems a small issue and has most probably emanated from the top regarding the “rent” but when coupled with the fact that he’s been made a scapegoat for losses by parsnip, been ostracised from the first team by parsnip, the odds are parsnip has told the powers that be he doesn’t want him here thus the club doing all they can to shift him wirh dirty underhand tactics! Who would seriously not put it past fatty? Sounds just like how he operates his empire which unfortunately we are part of

I’m not saying bennys blameless but if I’d been brought on at 0-2 down against a piss poor manure team that was there for the taking when it was 0-0 but see your team playing hoofball with no sense of what people’s jobs were in the team apart from defend, then blaming me for it! then the cretin asks “what went wrong” and I’m the only one with the balls to tell him….I’m gonna tell him the truth! Tbh I’d have most probably ripped his fcuking head clean of his fcuking shoulders the smug twat!

    Oops I’m ranting again 😉

Liverpool finished in the top 4 hence the fee being 8.5m, because we achieved diddly squat last year we have to pay the going rate. It’s not 13.5m but 15.5m if we include the 2m loan fee, makes you wonder why we didn’t have a clause in the loan.

Remy doesn’t have an attitude problem.
He simply wanted the best move personally for him. Nothing wrong with that in my book.

Ian toon you ended your comment with “football fans are a fickle bunch” and I totally agree. Half the fans don’t want him because he turned us down and wanted a bigger club. I don’t see that as a big problem. I’m sure I’d he signed for us he’d give his all.

By the way I’m not having a go at you as I understand why some people wouldn’t want him back. But me personally don’t think he’s done too much wrong.

We look exasperated in our search for a top striker and IMO Remy would be an amazing signing.

Fully agree with OurToon – he only played well when he was in the shop window for a ‘bigger club’ / WC place. His refusal to play in the final game (by agreement if believed) just shows the type of player he is – self self self.

Agreed Harley, Remy has no loyalty to any club in the premier league. He just wants the best deal personally. He did enjoy playing for us last season, i could tell, the goal he scored against villa, the passion in his face, when he scored against chelsea, he went over to hug a disabled kid.

I think he’d rather play for us than QPR.

As I stated earlier the PR campaign to get the player out had begun back when he was made a scapegoat….to me this is PR spin, if you want I can post articles where the regime talk about the renaming of SJP to SDJ Area as a positive for the club and it will bring in suitors willing to pay millions for naming rights!! Hatem has to prove to the players and me….oh he’s injured that’s why he’s not playing…..err no I’m not you lying twat!!

Lol, spend the money on PEA or Doumbia… Just a little problem with that – who says they are available and within our price range? What makes you think they will want to come? Or would you rather we waste the rest of the window trying to negotiate only to discover there was never any chance?

If Remy is up for grabs and we can afford him (permanent transfer, no loans please!) it is a no brainer. We can talk the FM style wishlist all we want but you don’t get that quality available often.

Since when were QPR bigger than us? He didn’t have the decency to meet with us when he landed in London, he joined QPR who were destined to go down, I don’t blame him for not committing after the season he had but then he refused to play for us in the last game of the season…sorry mate dress it up how you want but to me that is the ultimate betrayal

A team in Europe fighting relegation or a team bottom of the premier league playing in front of 17000…hmm let me think. The fact we didn’t even get to sit down with him to negotiate a deal tells you all you need to know, he never entertained our offer, in fact if I remember rightly he went missing and clubs officials were confused…next thing they knew he signed for QPR…aye that’s class attitude

I think that Remy has had a bit of a shock to the system this transfer window. The past two seasons he has seen him self as on the way to somewhere bigger, doing well at QPR and showing how good a player he can be at NUFC, and when the time came when he would finally transcend his perceived mediocre surrounding and move on to a “bigger club”, Arsenal wouldnt pay his wages and Liverpool dropped him like a hot potato. There hasn’t been an iota of intrest in him from a “big” club since then and he is now staring down the barrel of a really tough relegation battle season with QPR.

So whats that going to show him.

    A) With Newcastle prepared to take him back after how poorly he acted with regards to refusing to play and with the fans prepared to treat him like a god again if he returns – perhaps his eyes will have been opened to the positives of Newcastle, perhaps making him more than willing to return to escape QPR.

    B) Having been burned by “big clubs” coupled with improved management personnel at Newcastle (Charnley instead of Kinnear) and the improved squad we will have this year. There may be a spark of loyalty formed to the club who have actually treated him very well.

I believe A is more likely than B but you can always hope.

    Sign him up!!!
