Schalke 1 Newcastle 3 – All The Goals – Video

7:05 pm, Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 56 Comments

Here are the goals in todays match when Newcastle United more than made up for their poor performance yesterday against a good Malaga side, and Newcastle were 3-0 up until the very last seconds of the game when Schlake – the hosts of the tournament – finally scored – with the last kick of the match – actually it was a header.

Comments welcome.

Given that Sporting Lisbon want £12 million for Rojo I think you can strike that one off your list.

  • 2 Ethiotoon // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:12 PM

Krul rarely troubled, his presence was a
    boost for defenders
Elliot rarely troubled, looks active and
    hungry to play
Anita. Impressive,IMO RB is his best
    Position bcoz he is short
    William. Impressive, calm composed
    Coloccini. Impressive,leads the back well
    Dummett. Impressive, defended well
    Obertan. Impressive,excellent runs,decent
    Passess up front &should stay
Colback. Good, reads the MF well enough
    Sissoko. Did enough,unfamiliar position
    Aarons. Excellent motm for me..
    Reviere. Impressive,superb strike,excellent
    headed goal
    Goufran. Tired,haven’t seen him much
    Cabella. Excellent, impressive,good
    Communication, great finish
So does other youngsters impressive all of them, very good performance

  • 3 NUFCJackW // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:13 PM

The best thing about the second goal was watching Obertan slip in the background. 😉

Just kidding… Good performance overall, much improved from the first half of the game against Malaga.

Very pleased. Aarons looks good, as does Cabella-ella-ella-a-a-a.

  • 4 Tsunki // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:13 PM

I see we are Newcatsle again, Ed! 🙂

I likethe look of Obertans twin brother, better than the guy we got first time.

Good summry, Beattie old man, but i would pick out Vuckic as never going to make it now, Anita too weak for Prem, MYM has Brambleitis and its looking terminal.

All quite encouraging BUT a win by theplayers not by tactics. Schalke were dire. I still fear that due to Pardewing, we will have a decent first half season, inevitable tiring of players, lowering of morale plus injuries will lead to a usual 2nd half term of disaster.

  • 5 Belfast // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:14 PM

    Yo skunki hows tricks

  • 6 Ancientcoptic // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:15 PM

Obertan, Anita and Cabella when he came on, were the outstanding players for me.

Dummett does not inspire me with confidence.

  • 7 lesh // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:16 PM

    Good result, some good performances.

    Pardew out?

  • 8 Belfast // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:16 PM

    Obertan was very good like.
I hope he keeps it up.

  • 9 Mickalonius // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:16 PM

Tsunki, So if we lose it’s Pardews fault , but if we win it’s down to the players, seems a bit nonsensical to me…

  • 10 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:18 PM

    Ffs Ed man!
    114toonarmydownsouth // Aug 3, 2014 at 6:41 PM

We’ll look at what happens when Stevie Taylor is no where near the bloody pitch

Much improved performance today and some good showings from the new boys, especially Cabella (HBA Who?)!
But MOTM has to Rolando, very good pre season from him

Pardew promised a much improved performance so credit where it’s due but it’s still pre season non the less so won’t be banging the “were ganna win the league man” drum yet

Oh…and what the hell has happened to Obertan!!!

  • 11 Dennis Twice // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:19 PM

    Attack Toon attack attack!

  • 12 Tsunki // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:21 PM

Ha ha oh my sides Ed, and we were playing Schlake too!

Er.. hello Belfast yeah its all good. Usual defamation of Alan, you know.

  • 13 Big Pappa Cissé // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:23 PM

I don’t want to see us play anything other than 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 under Pardew . Its all he knows and how we got the majority of the points in the 5th place season . Might not be pretty but the best we can expect under him I’m afraid .

    Team for City:

    —————————-De Jong————————-

    ————————–New Striker———————–

  • 14 colwell // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:23 PM

Abeid is a far beter CM then Colback is.
Cabella with all the tricks HBA can’t compete with that.
Riviere runs all day great hold play.
    Aarons is Raheem Sterling mk2

  • 15 Beatroll25 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:27 PM

…has anyone seem Guardians of the Galaxy yet?

  • 16 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:28 PM

Not sure, he’s touted Rolando for a little while now, reckon we’ll see a fair bit of him Abied Perez and Sakta this season

For me with the arrival of Chucky Campbell has probably dropped to the bottom of the pecking order, him and Arma i reckon will be heading out on loan

  • 17 Tsunki // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:29 PM

Mickalonius, sorry to hear that. By way of explanation though, I am saying that we keep on buying quality players, some of whom can sustain by their own playing skills a reasonable run of form, however Pardews lack of tactical knowledge and demotivating formations explode spectacularly from time to time. When that happens he starts to monkey with team selection and positioning. This demotivates players and we finish the season spiralling into a string of defeats. Thats it really.

  • 18 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:30 PM

I’ll have what ever your smoking if you still think HBA will ever feature again, especially a starting spot at Citeh

  • 19 Belfast // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:32 PM

Well at least I won’t have to watch quest tv and their dodgy picture ever again.

I think I must have stepped into Bill and Teds time travelling phone box by accident yesterday.

  • 20 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:32 PM

Stand out Motm for me today was Gabby, shocking or what?!

Cabella didn’t look amazing, he look composed but did zero and even scuffed a chance due to no control. Jury is out whether he will be worth the money paid.

    New lad Ferryra looks average.

Dummett needs sold, he is awful!

Mbiwa cannot play in a back three. He looks lost compared to a composed Williamson and Mbiwa partnership before Streete come on.

    Vuckic is crap.

    Abeid is backup at best.

Colback had a poor tournament after looking like a great player in Nz

    Stalyor should be sold.

Aarons looks like a player who may just make it if managed well. Think Sterling. If managed right could be a great little player.

Anita looks too lightweight for centre mid.

Armstrong looks like a decent little player too. Probably needs a loan with guaranteed first team place.

    Ben Arfa

Jury is out on Obertan if he manages to play like he has this weekend.

  • 21 Tsunki // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:33 PM

Beattie no I havent, heardits really good. Please dont tell me who dies in the end. Still havent got over Dogtanian…

  • 22 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:33 PM

H BA needs to be played…..or sold. With the current situation both parties lose.

  • 23 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:36 PM

What was wrong with the picture quality? (Mine was good)

  • 24 colwell // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:36 PM

Not sure Spurs will want to sell Dier all ready

  • 25 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:36 PM

    Cabella tricks?

I think none came off over the two games…..

Sorry but don’t believe the hype he looks a good player not a great one. Based on skill and impact Ben Arfa certainly looks the better of two, and I slate Ben Arfa.

Rivere took his goal really well, still he looks lost upfront with the ball. He did zero other than that header. He loses the ball pretty much every time he touches it.

Think we need a striker but still if he manages to finish like that when given 1 chance he maybe what we need.

  • 26 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:38 PM

    Did the complete it?

Great signing but never heard anything. Been abit out of touch after just moving and using up all my allowance for month and waiting for BT to install Internet

  • 27 roblee7 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:38 PM

Rolando Aarons….a starter next season? He looks like our Raheem Sterling

  • 28 colwell // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:40 PM

    Yeah they signed him Yesterday.

  • 29 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:40 PM

    roblee 7

    I agree. He’s ready now.

  • 30 roblee7 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:41 PM

Hope Pardew makes up with Hatem…him n Cabella wud b scary for other teams

  • 31 Kris // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:41 PM

Anyone knows why Sammy didn’t travel with the team to Germany?

  • 32 jazzyp // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:41 PM

Dier is already at Spurs. Well done by the way on your assessment of facunda. He’s hardly played and is getting up to match speed. Comes on for half a match and your writing him off already.
Hopefully the blog will get back to a bit of normality again after the ludicrous comments on here yesterday

  • 33 roblee7 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:42 PM

Kris no idea but hopefully they’v realised he’s not good enough.hate to say it but I really don’t think he is

  • 34 Belfast // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:43 PM

    Monkseaton mag

Think it was something to do with Virgin Media.
Remember the old tv aerials years ago where you had to move it around to get a picture ?

    That’s what it was like.

  • 35 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:44 PM

For me City team should be

    —————– krul
    Janmaat – Williamson – Coloccini – Haidara
    ———– Sissoko- Tiote
Cabella ——- De Jong ——– Gouffran
    —————- Riviere

  • 36 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:45 PM

The only negative is our master ‘tactician’ who picks the team every week.
A proper coach would have this squad of players playing decent football.

  • 37 roblee7 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:45 PM

MonksestonMag.he is ready, stood out a mile.guess he’ll be ‘Pardewed’?

  • 38 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:46 PM

I have virgin media – it was perfect (I think you need to ring 150)

  • 39 Bambams // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:47 PM

I still cannot see Ash spending any more money now.
Unless we move on players (Ryan Taylor, HBA, Saylor, Santon etc)to generate funds.
I think we will have enough for top half of league which is all our illustrious leader wants. Shame really because a top striker, midfielder and top CB could get Europe….

  • 40 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:48 PM

Didnt even comment yday, like today it’s a friendly, no need to overhype a loss or a win.

Based on his performance today Ferryra looked average, granted it’s 45 mins but his touches were really not great. He looks alot like the players we have…. Not much difference between him Riviere, Armstrong, Perez, Campbell, they all look pacey lightweight.

You look at Siem and he looks a player.

  • 41 Belfast // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:48 PM

I was going too ring them monkseaton, until I typed it into twatter and seen a load of people complaining about the picture as well.

  • 42 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:50 PM

No chance Pardew will play him on a regular basis.. He’ll play Gouffran on the wing

  • 43 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:51 PM

Aarons is not a first team player.

You could ruin him if you just play him and he flops.

Starts against Man City we get hammered 4-0 he’s to blame for atleast 1 goal. Confidence when that young could destroy his career or atleast delay what could be a great season.

He should be an impact player and if he does make an impact then make the first team.

  • 44 Markaccus // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:52 PM

All in all i think the selected players looked more balanced today, and despite not having as much posession as them, we were more threatening than they were. I don’t give a fcuk what the usual suspects will say, we were much improved from yesterday. There was no need for the doom and gloom yesterday, and there is no need to get euphoric about today. Something to build on, and it is now well proven we need a CB.

  • 45 jimmysmith // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:53 PM

It’s not remotely possible to accurately judge a player or team in pre season, because no one is giving one hundred percent and everyone one is putting in a different degree of effort and the opposition is doing the same but also are different levels anyway and there are a number of players playing in friendlies who won’t feature during the season. It is literally just a way to work your team into some semblance by opening day. I expect the side to begin to take shape now and only begin to bring itself up to speed in the final friendly and first two fixtures. Much of the defending you see is half arsed training ground stuff or just poor quality.

  • 46 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:54 PM

Look at Sterling he came on the scene from the bench then started and had a decent half a season then ran out of steam.

He then was used as a bit part player last season until winter when he broke onto the scene and into the first team.

If you over play or mis manage a player you could end his career.

    Rogers has handled sterling excellent.

People on here starting Aarons haven’t got a clue. He played a friendly and had a good game.

Obertan has had two good games should he be starting too?

    Oh wait….

  • 47 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:56 PM

Now this would be a sexy team:

    Janmaat Alderweireld Rojo Santon

    Ben Arfa Sissoko Grenier Cabella

    Remy Riviere

    Rojo – £10m
    Alderweireld – £6m
    Grenier – £10m
    Remy – £8.5m

    Total – £34.5m

    Gutierrez – £1m
    Sammy Ameobi – £1m
    Williamson – £2m
    Steven Taylor – £2m
    Bigirimana – £1m
    Dummett – £1m
    Colback – £3m

    Net spend = £23.5m

  • 48 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:56 PM

I agree. Not necessarily ‘every’ week – but regularly.

Unfortunately Pardew will forget about him till the cups ( a ready made excuse)

  • 49 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:58 PM

You can see if a player has ball control in any game.

Siem looks composed and his ball control is excellent.

Obertan despite his good game today has an awful touch.

Big difference from a friendly compared to a Pl game against any team.

Yet some players you can see if they have a touch. Whether Cisse touches a ball in pre season or Pl he doesn’t have any ball control. It’s not something he can turn on.

Riviere and Ferryra do not look like they can hold a ball up. Kinda improtant if you are a lone striker.

  • 50 MonkseatonMag // Aug 3, 2014 at 7:59 PM

Yes, based on the last 2 games I think Obertan should be playing.

Why can’t he play like this every week?

  • 51 pawl250 // Aug 3, 2014 at 8:00 PM

    Kets your an idiot.

You can tell you play on Fifa and Fm.

    Alderwield 6m?

    Rojo 10m?

    And selling players lol

In what world would teams pay those amounts for those players.

    Unbelievable Jeff, it’s that ridiculous

  • 52 Slank // Aug 3, 2014 at 8:00 PM

I was really disappointed with Gouffran. I expected so much more from him after some very good performances.

I thought Obertan was excellent. He worked really hard and always got back to help the defence. Another often much maligned player Williamson was cool, calm and commanding. Aarons was excellent too. Cabella was much improved and took his goal well as did Riviere with a wonderful leap.

But overall the team played really well and got stuck in with lots of energy and belief.

  • 53 roblee7 // Aug 3, 2014 at 8:25 PM

Pawl. Aarons is ready to be introduced via subs bench but as we all know Pardew isn’t great at bringing in young talent. I know aarons is only 18 but the best players get plenty first team action at this age, he wont get it under Pardew I suspect

  • 54 roblee7 // Aug 3, 2014 at 8:27 PM

U can c aarons is a natural winger, just what we need.under an excellent manager like rodgers he woud flourish

  • 55 JrReps // Aug 3, 2014 at 8:58 PM

    Remy Cabella!!

  • 56 lesh // Aug 3, 2014 at 11:52 PM

Just scanned the posts and what jumps out is that no matter what, no matter how good the result, the players or performances there’d still be those who see nothing but negatives.

Maybe they ought to support Sunderland and have something to really whine about.
