Here are the goals in todays match when Newcastle United more than made up for their poor performance yesterday against a good Malaga side, and Newcastle were 3-0 up until the very last seconds of the game when Schlake – the hosts of the tournament – finally scored – with the last kick of the match – actually it was a header.

No chance Pardew will play him on a regular basis.. He’ll play Gouffran on the wing

Comment #43Aarons is not a first team player.
You could ruin him if you just play him and he flops.
Scenario
Starts against Man City we get hammered 4-0 he’s to blame for atleast 1 goal. Confidence when that young could destroy his career or atleast delay what could be a great season.
He should be an impact player and if he does make an impact then make the first team.

Comment #44All in all i think the selected players looked more balanced today, and despite not having as much posession as them, we were more threatening than they were. I don’t give a fcuk what the usual suspects will say, we were much improved from yesterday. There was no need for the doom and gloom yesterday, and there is no need to get euphoric about today. Something to build on, and it is now well proven we need a CB.

Comment #45It’s not remotely possible to accurately judge a player or team in pre season, because no one is giving one hundred percent and everyone one is putting in a different degree of effort and the opposition is doing the same but also are different levels anyway and there are a number of players playing in friendlies who won’t feature during the season. It is literally just a way to work your team into some semblance by opening day. I expect the side to begin to take shape now and only begin to bring itself up to speed in the final friendly and first two fixtures. Much of the defending you see is half arsed training ground stuff or just poor quality.

Comment #46Look at Sterling he came on the scene from the bench then started and had a decent half a season then ran out of steam.
He then was used as a bit part player last season until winter when he broke onto the scene and into the first team.
If you over play or mis manage a player you could end his career.
Rogers has handled sterling excellent.
People on here starting Aarons haven’t got a clue. He played a friendly and had a good game.
Obertan has had two good games should he be starting too?
Oh wait….

I agree. Not necessarily ‘every’ week – but regularly.
Unfortunately Pardew will forget about him till the cups ( a ready made excuse)

You can see if a player has ball control in any game.
Siem looks composed and his ball control is excellent.
Obertan despite his good game today has an awful touch.
Big difference from a friendly compared to a Pl game against any team.
Yet some players you can see if they have a touch. Whether Cisse touches a ball in pre season or Pl he doesn’t have any ball control. It’s not something he can turn on.
Riviere and Ferryra do not look like they can hold a ball up. Kinda improtant if you are a lone striker.

Yes, based on the last 2 games I think Obertan should be playing.
Why can’t he play like this every week?

Alderwield 6m?
Rojo 10m?
And selling players lol
In what world would teams pay those amounts for those players.
Unbelievable Jeff, it’s that ridiculous

Comment #52I was really disappointed with Gouffran. I expected so much more from him after some very good performances.
I thought Obertan was excellent. He worked really hard and always got back to help the defence. Another often much maligned player Williamson was cool, calm and commanding. Aarons was excellent too. Cabella was much improved and took his goal well as did Riviere with a wonderful leap.
But overall the team played really well and got stuck in with lots of energy and belief.

Comment #53Pawl. Aarons is ready to be introduced via subs bench but as we all know Pardew isn’t great at bringing in young talent. I know aarons is only 18 but the best players get plenty first team action at this age, he wont get it under Pardew I suspect

Comment #56Just scanned the posts and what jumps out is that no matter what, no matter how good the result, the players or performances there’d still be those who see nothing but negatives.
Maybe they ought to support Sunderland and have something to really whine about.
