Newcastle Still Have More Transfer Targets This Summer

There was news yesterday that Newcastle may be interested in bringing 21 year-old Sunderland striker Connor Whickham to Newcastle, but how accurate that story is we don’t know but it’s true the striker could be leaving Sunderland this summer, if he doesn’t sign a new deal at the Black Cats, with only one year left on his current four year contract.,

Jamaal Lascelles – Nottingham Forest central defender

And last night there was news we were after Nottingham Forest central defender Jamaal Lascelles, along with Forest’s young goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

And yesterday, Alan Pardew was positive on the fact we may still be signing players this summer, as he had this to say:

“We have always maintained that we will watch the window right up until the last hours.”  “I think we have done some terrific business this summer.”

“It must please the Newcastle fans that we have signed some exciting, offensive players.”  “And, for me, I feel far more comfortable with the team and that we can play a brand of football that is expected of us.”

Newcastle still have some players they would like to sign this summer if they become available.

They include Clement Grenier and Alexandre Lacazette at Lyon, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, and it’s still possible one (or more) of these players may become available late in the transfer window.

And we have paid out (only) about £28M for the seven players we have brought in so far, and since we got around £32M for Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy – Newcastle still have (plenty) of transfer money available, if the right players do become available.

We need defenders Pardew… or could you make Satka, Streete, Mbabu and Good starting to play like pros?

pards is a stats lover so given that he will keep him wide I think but at time I wouldn’t mind seeing us go 433 with socks tiote colback
socks did well for france there and colbacks a left footer

    Repost:

Signing Lascelles and Darlow in the suggested way is probably a new way of doing business with lower level clubs.

    something to add:
There are more and more competitive players hidden in the lower level leagues. I am not talking about FM or FIFA games. Look at Schneiderlin and Lallana. We gotta start keeping tabs on those ones. Could we sign Deeney and loan him back to Watford too?

The Spurs got Dier, which is probably a bad miss for us. If we could get Lascelles it would make me smile again. Not saying we are playing bad. Just talking about missing a young English player.

Idont think none of the players you mentioned are ready yet mate. The future looks bright but not just yet. Agree we need a commanding CB to add steal to our back four.

On Connnor wickham, I don’t really see the point in this particular signing as he would fall into the Riviere-Facundo-Cisse bracket. We need an out and out Striker in the shape of a Remy-Ba who would Guarantee 15-20 goals rather than signing forwards that may or may not deliver on the big scene

I did a list of our youngsters last night and I had forgotten about Kemen and M’Babu who are also highly rated.

It kind of has gone under the radar just how many promising kids we have now assembled.

Great business by the Toon this year, getting in quality players at reasonable prices.
Rivière looks a tidy player and good that Cabella Ferreyra did well too.
Nice to see Aarons is coming through well too.
The test will be when we play the PL teams to see what standard we are at and what our dynamo of a boss comes up with as a game plan.

I think Charnley must be commended for the job he’s done on the transfer and pre-season fronts especially if we do get these two young lads.

I know we still need another CB (how about we sign Lascelles and loan/give them Saylor?) and New Zealand was a long trip (that seems to have had more to do with Ashley though) but it’s been the most business we’ve done in a lot of years and after the last couple of pre-season’s it has been very refreshing.

Finally I’m aware he’s only doing his job but he appears to be getting results unlike our former DoF.

Satka looked good but very light looking.
Streete on the other hand is a stocky lad but haven’t seen enough of him to know if he’ll make it.

What’s surprised me is obertan is actually putting a foot In and attempting to win headers whereas before he would jog alongside the player making it look like he was working for team but rarely attempted a tackle, highly doubt this form will b transferred into the premier league though

we seemed to have stopped sending them to Gateshead

Yeah, its all these signings, suddenly there is stuff to talk about other than “Ashley out, Pardew out, et.c”

I like 433, we have the players for it. How would you fit sdj and cabella into it, though. Sdj false 9?

I’m sure he signed Keegan in his day and he’s won almost everything there is and he can take the phone to any manager including Sir Alex “5 more mins ref” Ferguson

how depressing was the Blog Saturday??…I don’t even bother commenting when its like that. You just get embroiled in a war of attrition.
Yes the first half was shocking Saturday but the comments that were flying around that were doomed and relegation fodder was a total joke. And as I’ve already said makes you wonder why some on here are actually Nufc fans

yes I would play sdj as a false 9, but with the forwards we have bought cabella could be the man for as he is more mobile and we have riviere and perez and they could all swap and interchange

god its nice to have options

Was it not already stated that the £35 mil received from Carroll sale was invested in the training facilities, and underground heating on some of the training pitches. The Carroll money is long gone, but we now have some of the best training equipment in the league, and the lads can now train outside in the winter.
