Daryl Janmaat, Tim Krul And Facundo Ferreyra All Start

Huddersfield Town Crestnufc emblem

Alan Pardew has just announced his side for the pre-season friendly game against Huddersfield Town, and it’s a first game for our new Dutch signing Daryl Janmaat, and Remy Cabella and Facundo Ferreyra are also in the starting line-up.

This team has the look of a first team eleven for Newcastle, and Alan Pardew will need to get players like Krul, Janmaat, Cabella and Ferreyra some playing time before the Manchester City game a week on Sunday.

The defense looks like the one that will probably start our first Premier League game, with Sissoko and Colback in central midfield, and Gouffran and Cabella out on the wings with strikers Riviere and Ferreyra up front.

Cheick Tiote is given a rest and isn’t on the bench tonight, and will probably start against Real Sociedad on Sunday at St. James’ Park, but a number of players on the bench have played really well in pre-season.

Teams:

Huddersfield (3-5-2): Alex Smithies; Joel Lynch, Lee Peltier (c), Tommy Smith; Paul Dixon, Jonathan Hogg, Oliver Norwood, Radoslaw Majewski, Sean Scannell; Danny Ward, Nahki Wells
Substitutes: Joe Murphy, Murray Wallace, Sean St. Ledger, Joe Lolley, Duane Holmes, Jordan Sinnott, Matt Crooks, Jake Carroll, Phil Billing, Adam Hammill, Jon Stead

Newcastle (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Daryl Janmaat, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Massadio Haidara; Yoan Gouffran, Moussa Sissoko, Jack Colback, Remy Cabella; Facundo Ferreyra, Emmanuel Riviere
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Paul Dummett, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Steven Taylor, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan, Rolando Aarons, Ayoze Perez

    repost:

pards has been given a decent squad, surely better than a 10th place finish is necessary… i think 6th – 8th would keep him safe… but if we finish top four, and still lose to the mackems, he needs to be gone… top 6, plus a sweep of the unwashed = quality season imo

Goofy and cabella wide I assume. Is this game on anywhere?

Looks like another reasonably balanced side. Wonder if rivvy and ferry can strike a partnership tonight?

    repost;

I can’t believe there is STILL so much negativity after no one could have predicted us signing 7-9 players already!! Be it replacements or whatever we still didn’t think it will happen. Yet it has and all I read is negative.

    IT MAKES ME SICK!

How about giving the new guys a chance before judging them. From what I can tell they are not bad players and we are even looking to sign more players. So why all this negative shite!?

If Pardew only managers one point from the first 5 games after Man City then his position should be in question already.

I doubt that will happen though. I feel we have bought a few hidden gems in this window.

Still need a proven goalscorer and a CB to make it the best transfer window of all time.

So let’s give the new lads time to gel and show what they’re made of and please let’s stop all this negative talk, we’re supposed to be the best supporters in the land so lets act like it.

Anita played a sizable part in both weekend games didn’t he? Probably why he is rested tonight. Cabella and ferry were used not as much so i am glad they are getting another run out tonight

Dok Toon. Can’t believe my eyes that you say a top four finish, but a loss to the mackems, should mean that Pardew gets his P45.
A top four finish with an outlay of under 35k on the squad and Pardew would have to be odds on for Manager of the year.

I think Pardew is looking at a potential team with foresight of the African Cup of Nations this winter. Seeing the how well Colback and Sissoko do in the middle, like in the schalke game too.

I think I’m controlling my expectations by not getting over excited by permanent signings….i know it’s been a whole.

I believe we are 8th best on paper but will have to see how things transpire before i believe we have turned over a new leaf. You call it being negative and i call it not having BLIND FAITH.

Aye, sad to say you too have picked up on the negativity on here. Is it just the posters on this site? Could it be that it’s mainly critics who post anyway?

In any event, it’s disappointing to say the least

As for those slamming players and Pardew, give them a chance – you never know, there may be a pleasant surprise ahead.

Think tiote and de jong will replace colback and chucky against city and that will be our first 11. I can’t see anita getting much game time this season unless we’re plagued with injuries. I just don’t rate him above the others

Whatever Pardew did and as many headbutts as it takes, if he becomes the first manager to drive us to a 4th place finish since Sir Bobby in a Premier League as competitive as this he would be untouchable. I for one would take two more humiliating defeats in the derby to see this happen, it would be massive. Especially if we pull a top 3 finish and qualify for the Champions League groups straight away! Can’t see it happen though.

Our Toon- My comment was not directed at you but as a whole.

Fair enough of not having blind faith, I too am weary of that after many false dawns in the past.

But some of the negative comments recently are just appalling. We have signed 7-9 players already, that’s nothing short of a miracle under Ashley.

Yes he still has money there to spend and the good news is that he’s willing to spend it it seems. It does seem that he is more ambitious now and perhaps turned a corner.

Though I am not saying we should go and start praising Ashley but credit where credits due.

Even with just the replacement of Debuchy for Janmaat-who I consider of the same class if not better than the Frenchman- he deserves credit as that is an astute signing and completed instantly. I never thought we would pull that off, never mind both Siem De Jong AND Cabella all in one window.

Still more to come so I am really positive 😀

Still cautious though as we have some talented yet untested forwards now, we still need a proven goalscorer.

People need to realise as much as I am encouraged/excited by the signings….Not to get too carried away. It will take 10-12 games for these players to get used to each other’s play.
Talk of top 4 is great in hope, but reality is something else.
I am in no way saying it cant happen but we have bought half of a team this window so dont expect too much too soon.
The future looks better than it has for years.

    imo

I get what your saying I guess I’m still disappointed we haven’t bought a CB which we’ve needed for some time and we still need a CF who is a goal machine. My rating is 6/10 for the window based on this.
