Report That Newcastle Have Agreed A Fee for Lacazette

There is news tonight in the Independent that Newcastle United have agreed a fee for Alexandre Lacazette, but it’s just one paragraph in  a very long article on Sunderland Newcastle transfer business, and we can find no other mention in France for example that a fee has been agreed.

Alexandre-Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette – have Newcastle really agreed a fee?

Here is the paragraph taken from the Independent article:

“A fee that could rise to £15 million has also been agreed for Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, but the player is still in need of convincing that a season outside the Champions League will not be damaging to his career.”

Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas wanted around £15M for the French International striker, and he’s simply not worth that much, so it seems a little too convenient that a fee that could rise to that amount, has been agreed.

23 year-old Lacazette is a very good player, and he had a stellar season last term for Lyon, and in 46 appearances for them he scored 23 goals and had 7 assists, and he has two full caps for France.

While we hope the news in the Independent is true, it would be very surprising to us if that was the case.

But you never know, and Newcastle certainly have (plenty of) money still to spend this summer.

No chance a fee has been agreed. He not even interested in nufc. Plus fat man will never spend 15 million on one player. He’s much more likely to spend that on two or three players.

Last year: Remy on loan, and LDJ on loan later on. Sold Cabaye

This year: non-stop transferring in and only a handful out.

Hats off to Lee Charnley, and issue a warning for Kinnear to stay away from us.

I wish this where true the lad is twice the strikers we have atm. But that Dutch centre back seems like the one we need, can’t imagine having many attacking woes this season, defence on the other hand…

I think Riviere is Cissé’s replacement. I believe the club will try to sell him once he is fully fit; Riviere reminds me of Cissé because of his positioning in the box, he is always making good runs and stretches the other team defence.

For me, Cissé has had his chance. Hes been with us for three seasons and only really performed in one of them.

Riviere is also 5 years younger and looks like he knows how to score.

I hope Riviere’s first season is as good as Cissé’s first.

I hate all this chat from the Lacazette camp about Champions League and all that jazz !! Come and join the Toon this summer and you will become a regular for your national team ! Hell if you come with a centre back we may just have an outside chance of making the top 4 here !!

In fact, that European football thing… players have to earn it. They have the opportunity to do that here.

Why do the press imagine Everton will consolidate and potentially press for a Champions league place this season. They’ve essentially got the same side as last year and a squad that’s too small to compete in Europe. I think we can finish above them, but probably not both them and Spurs. 7th place for us and above the Toffees for mine.

I agree with most posters on here that a CH is the priority.

Why not offer Celtic Taylor in part exchange for Van Dyke and Ben Arfa in part ex for Laccazette.

It would probably cost us 15 million but that would be the team sorted out.

I also heard from a Sunderland supporter that NUFC already gave an agreement to sign Wickham at the beginning of next season on a free and that is why he is refusing to sign a new contract with the mackems. This would make sense especially if the club sell Cisse in eithet January or next summer.

    How is sunny Brisbane?

Cold damp and dreary down here today in Melbourne.

I agree with you about Everton although they will be difficult to beat as usual.A lot will depend on their injuries

I don’t actually care that much about winning things or even playing in Europe because there are at least 5 clubs that have the wood on us in collective terms of financial clout and size and history. I really just would like to see us be a legitimate, tough, respected opponent for anybody, to give anybody a tough match and to always be the favorites when playing at home no matter the opposition. Pride in the shirt and a side to be proud of. It’s not always been the case. First and foremost, I’d like to see steel in the performances. That, coupled with the the quality in the squad we have and we will have a great year.

Hi Pal, not in Brisbane, Nagoya.

You must be looking forward to the season down under as well as following the lads back home. Exciting times all round what with prospect of the Victory and Heart rivalry hotting up with the Man City tie up kicking in. I’d say you’re in for some ding dong encounters your way over the next few years. Noisy neighbour stuff. Good fun.

I’ll be over the moon if this news is true.
    Fast,strong,good dribbling, skills & have eagle eye for goals.someone I dreamed of since may.but I don’t think he’d worth
£15m,probably has to be in euros, like
£12M.what inspired you to splash the cash Mikey? has to be that remarriage of your old cheek-bone…
He has got sparky massage since June….
I like the idea of cisse out wickham in thing. The latter is in equal height with cisse which means he is big but only 21.
    Will be our new Carroll.
Things are looking up,hope everyone is happy like me,stretch you legs and enjoy
    the games Geordies….

If we sign this lad, whilst not having an out and out 20 goals a season scorer, we have enough options in attack with Rivierie, Ferrerya, Cisse, Lacazette? De Jong, Perez and Cabella who all seem capable of scoring between 8 and 12 goals each this season.

The pace and creativity these players have collectively could be a huge bonus. All Pardew has to do is get the movement off the ball right and the team to pressure hard the opposition into giving up the ball quickly. We could get goals galore.

    Pizzicato,
Do you honestly think the it was JfK who was responsible for the lack of signings over the last year and a half, if you do then like a few others then you are really out of touch as to how the club is run.

Lot of sceptics on here but let me give you my two pence on the matter.

OK so, i’m a bit of a transfer window nerd. I’ll religiously follow the stories, and scour social media for anything to do with Newcastle.

Now many of you might read this and take it with a pinch of salt but Twitter can be an invaluable source for getting the first bit of breaking news.
Many of you guys will use it, many won’t but whatever your feeling towards twitter, let me tell you i’ve seen transfer news broken on there weeks before it’s confirmed on Sky Sports for example.
There’s a load of bullsh*t on there, and a lot of fake accounts pretending to be ITK (in the know) or football agents but after trail and error you can pretty quickly work out which ones are trustworthy and worth listening to.

With this particular rumour, it was first broken early yesterday evening. About an hour or two later and quite a few of the decent accounts had backed it up.
There was suggestion a week ago from a very trustworthy account that stated Lacazette was interested in the move regadless of the reports in France to the contraty, but that the stumbling block would be the fee.
And when that guy heard the rumour he was sure it had some substance because around 15m euros is thought to be a realistic price, with Ben Arfa going the other way on loan.
Newcastle will apparently have to pay towards HBA’s wages for the year too.

I would say there will be more rumours today and further stories, but IMO this is the most concrete news we have had all summer that we’re genuinely moving in for Lacazette.

So have a little faith, don’t just knock it immediately, because this one could actually come off.

If anyone is concerned about Lacazette’s record which is 106 Appearances, 24 goals then dont be.

Up until last season he had always played on the right wing. Wasnt until last season that he was moved into the striking position (proving he’s a versatile forward) and scored 1 in 2 for the season.

    So eh, he’s quality.

I saw Bills was back crooning over the new new signings and pointing out that our other sellable assets, Krul, Tiote and Santon haven’t been moved on, has it occured to him that nobody has wanted them, well at least for a decent fee, and when people get excited about turning corners, the last two times we had that big player influx the players who made an impact aren’t here anymore with the players that didn’t work out stuck here clogging up squad spaces.

As for centre backs, I read van Dijk is available for Celtic’s asking price of £8m

To be honest though i can’t see that one coming off, considering we didnt move Mbiwa on or even manage to loan him out this season, and he is apparently the highest earner at the club.

I meant to add to that post that bills had decided to omit completely that there hadn’t been a first team signing for a year and a half while 14 players left, but hey Tiote, Santon and Krul are still here.
