Newcastle may have to wait until the last week of the transfer window, when things start to finally sort themselves out, but the Magpies will have opportunities to sign more players before September comes around.
Arsenal striker Joel Campbell – loan deal?
Newcastle still have some players we are after and here’s the situation at the moment with each one:
- Alexandre Lacazette – seems to be our number on striker target, but we don’t believe a fee has been agreed with Lyon, even though reports are continuing to come out saying a whopping £15M fee has been agreed. Alexandre wants to join a Champions League club but he could settle for Newcastle late in the window
- Loic Remy – will be asking himself whether he wants to stay at QPR for next season as September approaches, and after playing in front of 52,000 home crowds at Newcastle he may opt for Newcastle if a bigger club doesn’t come in for him – but he is not Newcastle’s top target these days
- Andre Ayew, – is a Ghanaian International winger who would do well at Newcastle, although he has his heart set on joining Liverpool, but he could consider joining Newcastle permanently before the end of the transfer window, if Liverpool or some other big club doesn’t coma after him
- Joel Campbell – it’s still possible that Newcastle could get the Costa Rican striker in on loan from Arsenal. and there’s a report in the Chronicle today that in fact that seems like a decent possibility, with Arsene Wenger wanting his 22 year-old striker to get some experience in the Premier League
- Virgil van Dijk – if the news is to be believed over the last day or so, Newcastle will only bring in another defender if a current defender – such as Steven Taylor or Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – leave the club. So if that happens we could see a late bid from Newcastle for the Dutchman – but it’s not looking good at the moment. We had hoped the club would have shown more ambition and snapped this lad up for £8M
- Clement Grenier – Newcastle have still not replaced Yohan Cabaye with a central midfield play-maker, and we went after this lad in January, and it seems he would be happy enough to come to Tyneside – but only if Newcastle and Lyon can agree on a decent fee for the French International
And of course we could always get a signing out of the blue, of a player we didn’t even realize Newcastle were after – that’s always possible.

I’d probably prefer Perez to go on loan as well. But unlikely that all 3 would go out unless someone came in. It might make sense to let 2 go out now, then reassess in Jan bringing 1 back and sending the 3rd out then. Get them all some game time.

True, only really seen flashes of Perez pre season
I depends I suppose on who Pardew views as his CF’s, is Goofy going to bee given a shot up front? If not that leaves only Rivière and Ferrayra as it stands and have no idea when Cisse is back or if he’ll be anywhere near being Cisse-like again so can’t see Perez going out til maybe January depending on chances
Still think if it wasn’t for his injury we would of seen Cisse move on this window tbh

Be good if by some miracle it could all be resolved but sometimes tbh sh1t just doesn’t work out
Look at Mourinho and Mata, player of the season 2 times running to bench warmer to being cast out
Sometimes sh1t happens!

I think Chucky will just be a stoker, but Goofy and Riviere will be used there and out wide I’d imagine.
On Cisse, I agree, I think he would have been on the list of players out. He may be given another chance and then be shipped off next summer. It will be tough to get rid in Jan as he will be at the AFCON probably.

Comment #54Ed from my understanding both Lacazette and Grenier have told the media that the don’t intend on leaving Lyon unless it’s for a CL team.

Comment #55Grenier and Remy would do. We’ll just have to go all out attack and try to win 4-3 every game.
I’ve done something silly. I’ve put £40 on a bet for tonight. Cardiff or Blackburn and PSG have to win, otherwise I’ll lose. Got a feeling the Blackburn game will be a draw.
What do you lot think?

Comment #56I really hope HBA doesn’t go to Everton or any other EPL team for that matter. He would be amazin in any other team and a different manager and he will be rubbing it in our noses every week with sublime performances and goals 🙁 If has to go it has to be abroad.
I am still hoping Pardew leaves before him.

Comment #59I know you lads will poo poo this but I’m looking for a lot of good scrambly bits from wor attackers this season, including wor midget strikers. I’m looking for some teeth gnashing and ankle biting. I’m looking for ferocity and tremendous displays of pie eating from Benny. It’s all going to happen soon lads. Sit tight! Huzzah!

Is it AFCON again already? Well at least we won’t be left with no strikers again this time!!
Yeah Jan would be a very hard time to shift him, despite form he still seems to earn call ups
We’re shaping up for possibly a slightly better season imo, more of a squad rather than relying on a couple of stand out individuals but would be great to see perhaps some of potential write offs turn there careers round and get back on track

Comment #64A lot of you are wearing your thongs backwards if you think wor defense is going to be better this season. The core (Colo, Willo, Saylor, and Mbiwa) is unchanged despite our horrific goals against last season. Why no changes to improve it? And an unproven set of strikers. Very risky indeed. And Ashley never learns.

Maybe, but i don’t know how long the ban was for. I just didn’t think they had played another AFCON since. I may be wrong like. If Cisse does get to go it may do him some good, give him a chance to re-discover some form.

Senegal missed 2013, but they are in this one. Or in the qualifying at least. They have Tunisia, Egypt and one other team in their qualification group. By no means certain to qualify, but will be looking to get themselves back on track.

Comment #75ketsy it’s more a case of do we think Newcarstle will win without Cabaye? He was a big influence on the team. Not great every game but clearly a class above most of the midfielders we’ve had over the last few years.
