Newcastle have finally announced our two new signings Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee, and obviously our article of yesterday helped to bring that about. 😀
Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow
Both players will be sent back to Nottingham Forest on loan for the season, and they represent our 8th and 9th signings this summer – so far.
This is what Jamaal Lascelles said after the signing:
“As soon as I found out about the move I was over the moon.” It’s a huge step up for me. Newcastle are a club with a massive fan base, a big history and an unbelievable stadium.¨
“First, I am going back to Forest for another season and that will be great for my development. Hopefully I can come here next summer an even better player.”
Goalkeeper Darlow had this to say after his signing:
“I’m delighted for it all to be sorted and I can’t wait to get started here at Newcastle.” “The loan back is going to be another year but it gives me time to develop my game further before I return.
“I’m looking forward to the future.”
And Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew had this to say:
“It is a real coup to have signed two of the finest young talents in English football outside of the Premier League.””Jamaal and Karl will be a big part of the future of this Club.¨
¨They have both performed outstandingly in the Championship over the last couple of years and I have no doubt they will be able step up to this level once they return from their loan at Nottingham Forest.”
These two players are ones for the future at Newcastle, but they are also terrific signings and the fee is supposed to be around £7M.
But if they have good seasons for Nottingham Forest,  they will already be worth a lot more than £7M when they finally are at Newcastle and in the first team squad.
They will also be better players, and it’s very important that Newcastle keep signing these young players – especially young Englishmen.
When was the last time Newcastle brought in nine players in a transfer window?

Even when the football’s sh*te, always read this blog for some quality reminders of home.

I’ve seen you post about him before on here and I’ve completely agreed with every word mate. He’s shockingly bad, and he doesn’t earn my respect just cause he’s local… he’s picked up an incredible paycheque for a number of years and happens to spend most of the time on the sick. He’s also pathetically stupid.
I’ve got no time for him and we owe him nowt. I’d be delighted if he picked up a decent injury to keep him out all season.

Fulham are shocking. They were from Kick off day one of last season, and have not improved. Can see them dropping another league this season.

Seriously mate, even without a team ah reckon Blackpool would turn him down!
The lads wages must be an issue because no one has ever really even remotely expressed an interest in taking him, even old floppy chops!
I’d happily drive the lad wherever he wanted to go, problem is he won’t, he loves the status and lifestyle of being the local legend, feeds his ego
Problem is the novelty of having him is wearing off for the fans now so could well be his last season
Sliema
Have said (and been slated for saying) the lad has made a living off his accent, never got close to his own hype and averages 12-14 games a season, even if he was a decent CB his fitness record alone just makes him to unreliable to plan into a campaign and seriously hope he’s not in contention for a starting spot because you can’t build the foundation for a solid defence knowing your only going to get roughly half a season out of the lad

Deeps
This is Fulham’s line up
@EurosportCom_EN: MAGATH WIELDS THE AXE: You may remember Fulham in the Premier League, you won’t remember too many of these players https://t.co/YMXtfw4RuY
Seriously there in serious trouble before a ball has been kicked, still got some big names on the books, Magath’s ego could be there down fall
The senior names aren’t the biggest players in terms of ability but there experience would be invaluable in the championship, bit like us when we went down

Comment #119I feel sorry for the people who bought 4th and 5th day tickets!!
Dok I guess Americans can’t get their heads around a game that could last 5 days and end in a draw!
It’s all changed for Cook. He was the footballing version of Pardew for entertainment! Still ultra cautious as a batsman and captain mind, but now we’re winning.
Moeen is a real find with bat and ball. Just needs to keep politics out of it.
Tads I can understand you find cricket boring but 20/20
