A said a few weeks ago that without Kompany citeh are useless, they miss Aguero, Zabaleta, Demichalis but most of all Kompany. It’s amazing what 1 class centre back can do

City will be a real threat to dominate the English game if Mangala turns out to be as good as his potential suggests.

Having another dominant CB is exactly what they need for the games when Kompany is out.

Why is there no news about SDJ’s injury? He is going to be the most vital cog in our team.

Reposting for the 2nd and last time lol:
What did we learn from today’s game?

    a. Colo and Willo are very susceptible to attacks, especially when the ball is played behind.
    b. Janmaat is a class above the rest of our defence. Hope he doesnt get Pardewed.
    c. Let Sissoko be the box to box midfielder, with Colback holding.
    d. Aarons must feature at some stage against City. Was disappointed with Gouff’s contribution.
    e. Cabella is starting to warm up to the level he can play. Play him on the right of a front 3.

    Krul
    Janmaat–Willo–Colo–Haidara
    Colback–Sissoko
    Cabella–SDJ–Gouffran(just to start/aarons on 60)
    Riviere

STill, if we nick a draw against City, that should be a massive result.

Good work and a good finish. Just about deserved given the fact we did most of the attacking (albeit lacking a final ptoduct) and socks deffo deserved his goal.

Friends do not get fooled by City’s defence today. Vincent Kompany is a class above Dedryk Boyata.

I was dissapointed with Gouffan. I know a lot of our fans have been for a long time with him but to be fair he isn’t a LW or a AM. The guy is a striker. He is bound to be anonymous playing out of position but he is Jonas part 2 ‘The Willing Runner’.

Win against a team who played in CL last year and 7th in la liga. Not bad going.

De Jongs the guy who is going to piece our play together like Yohan did imo, Cabella is the flair on top of this, so think we will struggle at times next season when hes not in the team.

I see some people questioning whether Colo should be our first choice CB……I understand his legs aren’t all there anymore, but he reads the game better than MYM/Willo/Saylor COMBINED imo. If we started against a team like City with any 2 out of thee other 3, there’d be a lot of headless chicken running activity

Spot on about Goofy, he is a victim of his own willingness, Pardew has killed him as a footballer, I remember his first game against Chelsea playing left hand side of a front three he was a direct attacking threat, now he picks it up, turns around and pops it off, its a shame he’s a solid lad and player.

Quite like the look of Riviere as a player think he would play well with Cisse in a front two, he was isolated today mind, but looks decent. Cant fault the scouting of Carr.

Agree. I like Goofy, and he gives his all, but he is wasted out wide. We saw last year he is a goal threat when he gets in the right position. Play him in a 442, or a 433 where he can get in scoring positions more often. He just isnt an out and out winger

Just returned, few rows back from pitch, so well soggy.

Janmaat, class act, Taylor was dicking about touching their players arse – think only he got the joke.

Cabella has some lovely HBA style skills but works hard.

Aarons, has to get some games, the kids was electric at times.

Richards isn’t even playing today. They’ve chosen Chichy ahead of him at RB, he’s not even a RB! And Boyata ahead of him at CB really shows how little Pellegrini thinks of him.

I think he really is available. We should buy him.

Well on a positive note at least we got a win and it was just a friendly but on the other hand the wife has just been decorating and it would have been more exciting watching the paint dry.

Sissoko is a power horse in midfield. He’s good at picking the ball up and pilling forward to the oppositions box. He just needs to learn when to release the ball once he gets to the box by playing a nice through ball or a cross. Took his goal very well.

this result will have all the fools brigade out in force , raving about how good we are, and how this season will be different ,
I wonder how long it will take them to start blaming players for not showing up at matches , a lot of these new players have had no time at the club yet, give them a couple of month, let Pardews tactics take hold of them, let’s watch their talent just suddenly disappear , dry up ,

in the friendlies iv seen so far, it’s exactly the same football , just a different team playing it, no support to the forwards,

one last thing , obertan is still shocking , never mind his fluky assist , he was only lucky sissoko was coming in late ,

Richards isn’t playing because he’s useless.

Why do people want him, seriously ?

He’s AWFUL at CB and an average at best RB.
    Steer well clear.

    On our performance….

I think it was a decent showing. No more, no less. Cant coment on the back four today because they didnt really threaten. Our players were willing to pass and move, and did it quite well in MF. Thats the main positive, as we seem to want to play a more attacking style. The main negative is the lack of final product. Like i said, SDJ is vital to a 4231, otherwise we have to play 442 and give rivvy a strike partner, or maybe even 433

Agree on Colo like. He’s the only one capable of communicating what he reads too. The rest haven’t a clue.

But he needs a different partner. If not M’biwa then we need an athletic and pacey CB in next to him. Willo is too slow.

I still think Mbiwa needs games. Maybe Willo picks up a knock and Taylor comes in for a game, gives away a penalty and straight red card in the first half and Pards is forced to drop him. … Finally Mbiwa plays for an extended run of games and takes his chance like a boss!!! – My Dream

Sociedad played a strong team but used the game as a training exercise.

For me our performance screamed of last season and that’s why I am upset. The opportunity was there today to offer a little more intensity but more importantly to try out a new game plan or two.

For me if Sociedad were interested they could have done us over like Malaga did. Much like if we had any tactical nous we could have put a few past them.

Same old for me though. Players out of position, attacking play stiffled and a real lack of quality in the final third.

Tbh thought today was a decent showing
The ball was moved around quickly we pressed for the full 90 and rounded it off with a well worked and well taken goal, something we didn’t see much of last season
We’re bedding in essentially an entirely new midfield, they won’t click overnight but there certainly getting there

No way we will sign Richards.

Anyone we sign from this point that is over 21 must be offset with a departure.

Even if Jonas leaves we still will have our full allocation of players. We will look to sell/trade in Hatem and if not there will be no further signings (I doubt there will be any even if we do flog Hatem).

Only chance we have is for a club to come in with an offer for a CB and then we bring in a replacement, which with our history is like playing russian roulette when a gun is loaded with 5 bullets.

Disagreed. Sturridge was a poor player at City, and Chels, and now look at him.

A fair few players who haven’t made it to being a Key Player at City have gone on to be great players.

I like Richards, I think he’s better than Taylor and Willo at CB, and he’s very good cover for RB too (which we sorely need). Plus he’s British/HG

    I doubt it.

Even though we lack a top, top quality striker that for me isn’t the big issue. Creativity and intent remain our biggest problem up front.

It doesn’t matter if we have Riviere, Cisse, Ferryera, Balotelli, Benzema or even Shearer. Without service there is hardly any need for a top forward.

Richards is poor positionally but often gets away with it due his recovery pace. Hes still pretty young and can learn from colo.
