Pardew Fields Strong Side Against Real Sociedad

nufc emblemReal Sociedad _logo.svg

Alan Pardew has just named his starting eleven for this afternoon’s final pre-season game against Spanish side Real Sociedad, and it’s a very strong side, and probably gives us some hints as to what the starting eleven will be next Sunday against Manchester City.

But Siem de Jong and Cheick Tiote are both not being risked for this game, and we don’t know whether they will be fit enough for our first league game.

Siem has a toe injury and Cheick has a hamstring problem,  and both injuries are said to be slight.

And there is no Rob Elliot in the squad, so we don’t know if he has picked up a knock, and Jak Alnwick is on the bench although we expect Tim Krul to play the full 90 minutes today.

Newcastle youngsters Rolando Aarons and Adam Armstrong are both on the bench this afternoon, and both of them could see some action in the second half.

Newcastle: Krul; Janmaat, Williamson, Coloccini (c), Haidara; Sissoko, Anita, Colback, Gouffran; Cabella; Riviere
Subs: Alnwick, Dummett, S Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Abeid, Obertan, Aarons, Ferreyra, Perez, Armstrong

We need to see a good performance from the lads this afternoon.

It’s not which players we play its the way are told to play! Pardew please just leave and save yourself the 1% of dignity you have left…

Massive game for Haidara, this is his chance to make that spot his own.

Probably just about the best team he could field with the injuries. Be nice to see how cabella plays in the number 10 role in the absence of SDJ

All those signings and we still look weak without tiote and sdj…. decent CB would’ve made all the difference

The 2 cb’s worry me. No pace. Watching Liverpool now and their pace will murder us aswell as other teams doing the same.Definitely a weak link in the chain

Also hate being so negative about us but as someone else suggested, all these new signings and yet the squad looks like it did last year. Still in need of a cb and a st to challenge top 7 at best.

If anita uses hos pace to help cover the CBs then we might be ok. I think its the only way since we dont have an athletic CB.

Still, we get to see some proper football at 3pm with the shield game!

Real Sociedad played in Europe on Thursday with what was probably their best 11, so I think we will be mostly playing their reserves later, but a win will give us a boost for next week when the season really starts and we can see how good these new players really are

Why is Pardew so intent on playing Sissoko as a winger?! If having both Sissoko and Gouffran on the wings isn’t any proof that we need a winger, then I’m not sure what is. Also Willo/Colo pairing is a disaster in the making. Apart from that, good team…!

How can’t there be a bloody broadcast of our final pre-season match before the big kick-off? You can get links to watch the Uzbekistanian league these days.

The appetite for football is at an all time high. Why didn’t somebody at that Quest channel or similar outfit pick it up? Surely they got their best ratings ever last weekend with the Schalke tournament.
