Alan Pardew discussed a number of things in his Sky Sports news interview at St. James’ Park today, and he even seemed hopefully of both Siem de Jong and Cheick being fit for the game next Sunday at home to Manchester City.
Siem de Jong – could be fit for Manchester City
Alan said he would be disappointed if both were not fit to play – and bother were said to be running well today.
This is the last few sentences of Alan’s interview with Sky Sports today:
“I think your first home game you’d like to win it, and it makes it difficult when it’s the Champions, but we’re in great shape, we couldn’t be in better shape for it in terms of pre-season outside of Siem and Cheick.
¨Whether they’re going to be available – we’d be disappointed if they were not, but they’re running well today, so they could be available, and make myself an easy job for me to pick my strongest team.¨
¨But we’ll have to see – whatever happens this place will be full up – the expectation will be there again as it always is at Newcastle, and we hope to put on a show that shows the footballing world and particularly the Premier League and that we are going to be a force this year.¨
Let’s hope Alan and his coaching staff put together a good game plan for this game – and certainly in this fixture last season last January, Newcastle played some great stuff, and should have got something out of the game after a fabulous Cheick Tiote had been wrongfully disallowed in the first half which would have made it 1-1, but a late goal gave City a 2-0 win.
Maybe we can do better this time, and even get our first win in the last 15 games against City?
