Better News On Newcastle’s Injury Front

Alan Pardew discussed a number of things in his Sky Sports news interview at St. James’ Park today, and he even seemed hopefully of both Siem de Jong and Cheick being fit for the game next Sunday at home to Manchester City.

Oldham Athletic v Newcastle United - Pre Season Friendly

Siem de Jong – could be fit for Manchester City

Alan said he would be disappointed if both were not fit to play – and bother were said to be running well today.

This is the last few sentences of Alan’s interview with Sky Sports today:

“I think your first home game you’d like to win it, and it makes it difficult when it’s the Champions, but we’re in great shape, we couldn’t be in better shape for it in terms of pre-season outside of Siem and Cheick.

¨Whether they’re going to be available – we’d be disappointed if they were not, but they’re running well today, so they could be available, and make myself an easy job for me to pick my strongest team.¨

¨But we’ll have to see – whatever happens this place will be full up – the expectation will be there again as it always is at Newcastle, and we hope to put on a show that shows the footballing world and particularly the Premier League and that we are going to be a force this year.¨

Let’s hope Alan and his coaching staff put together a good game plan for this game – and certainly in this fixture last season last January, Newcastle played some great stuff, and should have got something out of the game after a fabulous Cheick Tiote had been wrongfully disallowed in the first half which would have made it 1-1, but a late goal gave City a 2-0 win.

Maybe we can do better this time, and even get our first win in the last 15 games against City?

Looks like we won’t be signing any more players until January now.

“I think your first home game you’d like to win it” said Mr Pardew.

Oh really, is that what supposed to try to do – win games?

Now there’s a good idea – I wonder if it’ll catch on with the players too!

    From the previous post

48 points is a success! As much as it kills me to say it we are in the tier behind Everton and spurs, we are competing with the likes if Stoke!!

    FFS that’s depressing!!

And so he goes on (“we hope to put on a show that shows the footballing world and particularly the Premier League and that we are going to be a force this year.”

There now and I bet Van Gaal, Pelligrini and Jose are quaking in their shoes.

Ibiza….. Ed’s an ex Manor Park lad and as such, as tough as owld boots!

Evening mates. Thought I would do a comparison of us against another club I see as mediocre, i.e. mid table or lower, Stoke City. Here is a possible starting XI for them and us:
Begovic——- vs——–Krul— a draw here, both seasoned decent keepers
    Bardsley——-vs——–Janmaat— we win this one
Pieters———-vs——–Haidara—– this one to Stoke on experience
    Shawcross—–vs——–Willo—— Stoke again
    Huth————-vs———Colo—————Stoke
    Nzonzi———-vs———-Gouffy——-the edge to us
    Sidwell———-vs——–Tiote————the edge to us
    Adam————vs Sissoko——-the edge to us
    Bojan———–vs———-SdJ———-Stoke
Crouch———vs——— Riviere——-Stoke early on in the season
    Arnautovic—–vs———Ferreyra—-Stoke early on
I see Stoke with a better starting 11 and they are a mid table team. Their bench is slightly better as well. We will improve as the new players bed in but then injuries will take their toll. Stoke to finish above us.

Calm down lads. Nobody is that interested in Tiote. He won’t bring enough dosh to be worth selling for Mike. He’ll stay with us at least another season as beermonkey has already said.

GeordieTwo – I like to see a fan looking at things from both sides, however id have Santon over Pieters any day of the week, to say sidwells better than Tiote is madness, and id of had Cabella and Ben arfa if Pardinho would play him in ahead of Gouff and Riviere, both of which id say were miles ahead of N’Zonzi and Crouch, and personally think you underestimate Ferreyra.

I hope you’re right WillyisBram mate. I’m not sure yet but usually players take a while to bed in. Tiote is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde as well. Which will turn up? The turnover specialist or the attack destroyer? You’ll note I gave the edge to us with Gouffy? He can disappear at times but normally a tremendous work rate if Pards doesn’t destroy his confidence.

I can’t help but check to see how our old players do.

G2…What can I say, it’s summer in Ibiza.

Mind, I’d have a word with Ms Nubbins…seems she’s taken to the white isle during this paid down time. Surely she should be resting.

Alan…To be fair, you should know, not think, that you’d like to win your first game. I’ll take it a little further…we’d like to win most of our home games. Anyway, I leave that in your capable hands good chap…an easy start against Man City…Pardew must have p*ss*d someone right off.

Dok mate Pards will try to play a defensive game (of course, it’s Pards we’re talking about) against Man City. I see it as this:
    Krul
    Janmaat—-Willo—-Colo——Haidara
    Colback——Tiote
    Gouffy——-SdJ (if fit)——-Cabella
    ——————-Riviere

Something to do with Spain’s tight policies on chest hair and wanting their 21% of any €7 sales of merchandise.

Not sure why everyone has been working themselves into a frenzy about Tiote being transferred. The story comes from the ever reliable Lee Ryder who also reported Sturat Pearce was doing us a favour with the 2 forest players.
These stories without any named sources come out of nowhere and fade away. The papers had the mercurial one of to Everton the other day. It`s all just filler stories. Tiote had a long interview published on Saturday saying the squad was better than the fifth placed season squad and he was really looking forward to the new season. That may be BS but is a more believable than Lee Ryder and his “it is understood ” or “it is thought” fairy stories.
