Our new signing – 23 year-old goalkeeper Karl Darlow has made a good start to the season with a clean sheet in the 2-0 home win against Blackpool last Saturday – and a 1-0 away win last night at Tranmere – and that was in spite of Forest’s Michael Mancienne, the former Chelsea player, being sent off after 51 minutes.
Karl Darlow – Newcastle goalkeeper on loan at Nottingham Forest
So its been a decent start to the season by Stuart Pearce’s side, and they will be at Bolton on Saturday in their second league game of the season.
Newcastle’s other player at Nottingham Forest – Jamaal Lascelles has missed both games as he is recovering from injury.
Last season Karl was a regular for Forest and played 45 times in all competitions, while Jamaal played 34 times with 3 goals.
The 6 ft 1 ins tall goalkeeper is likely to become part of the first team squad at Newcastle next summer, and Karl is likely to become a big challenge to our current goalkeeper – Holland International and World Cup legend Tim Krul. 😀
We’re sure that’s the plan anyway – and if Newcastle continue to look weak in central defense, we could see the emergence of Australian International Curtis Good this season, once he recovers from the hip injury he picked up in his very first International in early March.
And then next summer Jamaal should be available, and be pushing for a first team slot at Newcastle.
We’ll continue to follow Karl and Jamaal at Nottingham Forest throughout this season.

Comment #1I wish Pardew had gone back end of last season. I don’t want to see yet another wasted season where he inevitably fails at some point around Christmas and we crumble.

Oh and @soccersauce seem to think Arsenal have been in talks with NUFC and Tiote for a couple of weeks and has been the main reason he hasn’t featured
That being said there also claiming that they have heard we’ve lined up Alex Song as a replacement
All sounds like BS

From Sky article in previous article
•The Magpies racked up 15 last-man tackles in the Premier League last season, more than any other side.
•No side won fewer points from losing positions in the Premier League in 2013/14 than the Magpies (3).
Pardew sets his teams up on the front foot? Basically we defend for our lives & unless we score first then it’s almost guaranteed that it’s game over.

No surprises it’s as predicted:
Krul
Janmaat – Williamson – Colo – Haidara
Tiote – Colback
Sissoko – De Jong – Cabella
Riviere
I read somewhere that Cabella had the second highest number of assists in the French league last season. With De Jong I would imagine that there is going to be more opportunities for the likes of Riviere and Sissoko.

What DM doesn’t give away free kicks? Every player gives away daft free kicks but Tiote is probably one of the best DM’s in the league. Players like him a worth more to a team than the usual superstars like HBA or cabella!!
Tiote if used correctly is an absolute beast, we tried to change his game by curbing the amount of cards he picked up. He’s a unsung hero who thrives on doing the dirty stuff, he makes less mistakes than the more expansive players we have and he covers for them more often than not. A proper competitor, the only player who I can truly say leaves it all on the pitch!!

Comment #8Alex song is a great player. Wasted at Barca, because Biscuits will always play in the single DM role when fit, and mascherano is probably going to be there when bisuits is not fit now that vermalen has signed at CB.
I will BBQ and eat my own penis if he ends up at the toon

You really think he’s that good? I think he’s average and has really been found out for exactly what he is there hence hin being frozen out for sometime. He wasn’t all that great at Arsenal either.

Comment #13Martoon…. Yeah, basically what it would be with all players fit. I’d be tempted to leave tiote on the bench even if he’s fit. Lack of match practice and all that. Cant imagine anything worse than a half fit tiote lumbering into challenges :).
Markaccus… I wouldn’t mind seeing what socks could do with an extended run through the middle. He’s never really been given enough time in that position in the PL.
Gouffrans had a great pre season. 1 goal and 3 assists i think? Plus some really good performances. But setting up like you suggest means aarons can slot right in like you say. Unknown quantity, they won’t expect him at all 🙂

Comment #14New signing Remy Cabella created 81 goalscoring chances in the French Ligue 1 last season – only Mathieu Valbuena (90) created more.
Chances rather than actual assists, bit still excellent

Comment #15arsenal want tiote and were gonna replace him with alex song lol
alex song is younger than tiote and arsenal prob have a sell on or buy back clause on him why don’t they just get song back although if I had a choice it would be song just cant see song coming to us
there would be a host of champions league teams wanting him

Yes, i reckon he is a cracking player. I think he is purely a DM, like Tiote, and at both arsenal and Barca, he was expected to be a creative magician too. It didnt suit him. He can break up play as well as tiote and has a slight edge in composure in my opinion. Probably all a pointless discussion, as i cant see him here 😀

He did mate, probably why we are being linked to him.

I think Tiote is better than him, I’m confused as to why we would sell players when they reach the peak of their powers…surely this is the time they’ll contribute the most

Really? Can.we.believe that ashley will employ.that type of manager? I always thought his list would be full of curbishleys and the like! Happy to be proved wrong if so, and will be happy to see an actual upgrade on Pardew, rather than just sacking him and replacing him with worse.

Comment #25we cant afford to lose Tiote, players like sdj and cabella will thrive with the ivorian terrier behind them. Take him out of the picture and see them suffer with defensive shackles
