Newcastle Target Could Be On The Move – Still Available

We would be very surprised if Loic Remy remains at QPR for next season, but any move away from the London club will probably come late in the transfer window, and with Alexandre Lacazette saying he wants to stay at Lyon at least for next season, it would appear our two striker targets at the moment are Loic Remy and Joel Campbell of Arsenal.

loic remy scores 3-1

Loic Remy – could be used in swap deal

Loic’s move to Liverpool seemed to be cut and dried, but he failed his medical in Boston a couple of weeks ago, and there was news yesterday that Harry Redknapp could use Remy in part exchange to get some wanted players to QPR.

That also tells us that Remy may have already told QPR he wants to move away from the north London club this summer.

There was some news yesterday on the CaughtOffside web-site that Andros Townsend is now a QPR target, and the 23 year-old winger was a Newcastle target, before the transfer fee quoted for him was ridiculously high, for a player who still has to prove himself in the Premier League.

Two London clubs – Tottenham and Chelsea are said to be interested in taking Remy, but it’s difficult to know if there’s much truth in these reports.

And it seems things have stalled at the moment at Newcastle on the transfer front, and if Newcastle are to make more signings this summer,  then it will be late in the window, and of course a lot of deals are made in the last few days August, and that could also be true this summer for Newcastle.

If Newcastle do sign Loic Remy, it will most likely be because there’s no better deal available for him, and it’s a good question whether we should sign players like Remy – who has been itching to get to a bigger club (than Newcastle) all summer.

And of the two strikers we are now linked with – Joel Campbell is probably our number one target now.

What do you think?

    Ed
Agree it’s taken slightly out of context but he shouldn’t of set a points target
Especially not one that last season would of seen us finish outside the top 10
The club have said they want to build on top 10 so he should of said were pushing top 8, if things are going to plan come Jan then why not look at Europe?
He’s just set himself up for pelters, especially knowing the ill will currently harboured for him!

    JFA
According to Pards he’s scouted this current batch of in comings personally along side Carr
He’s put his name to them so for me for the first time in his tenure he’s actually under pressure to perform
The players he wanted replaced have been replaced under his advisement and he’s bolstered his attacking options with his choices
If things aren’t looking good after 10 games he could be neck deep in the brown stuff
But yeah certainly not after the first game !

Townsend will be holding his promising career back by going to qpr. Surely they are in line for massive sanctions? They cant possibly be running self sufficient the way they throw money around?

    tads,
I just thought it a bit strange he didn’t seem to know where we had got Cabella from, I think his BS was a bit strong in saying we’ve strengthened and added stability to the defence, a proven RB for an unproven albeit very classy replacement, and for stability, does that mean Janmaat will be here for at least two seasons.

With an implied aim of 48 points minimum, there’s not a cat in hell’s chance of Remy coming back – unless there’s a nice fat wage package on the table!

    Repost:
At the risk of Pardew lover claims – I would imagine that Pardew has to give qute a few interviews per week to meet his media commitments. It is human nature to try and phrase things differently as no one wants to say the same thing over and over again. I think when he does this it sounds like he is changing tac or backtracking. However saying that the 48 points comment is disappointing but I’m sure that must be the very minimum target – surely the board will want an improvement on last year given the money spent on new signings.

an implied 48 point minimum…. thats a good way to put it. Even if not intended, he has implied it by even mentioning it. His own worst enemy, at times.

I agree that Pardew et all ought to learn how to put a positive spin on relatively lowly ambitions.

The club ought to take lessons from the Tories’ bullshit peddlars!

I agree with that. I cant see anyone in or around the club actually being happy with 48 points, including Pardew, i just sometimes think he saus these things to try and take pressure off himself, and ends up creating more.

    Nut Meg,
Ha, I’m not at work this morning. Harvesting is done, stock is in store, deliveries left yesterday for various destinations, and I am having to work most of the weekend due to some Zimbabwean traders arriving on Friday evening that I need to schmooze. Thought I would take a bit of time to relax – although god knows why I am on here if that was my plan!

    Our Toon,
Townsend is woeful. No point having a centre forward if we got him, he can’t and won’t cross. No idea why there is so much hype surrounding him.

He could even have said, “well nufcs average points in the premier league over the last ten years is 48, but we want to go way boyond that this season”. Now thats a small simple change, but much more positive. I thought NUFC were good at spin?? 😀

I can see Spurs going for Remy, but if that doesn’t happen I think he is QPR bound at least until January.

…I know he will get a team goal if he is playing for something – like a big transfer or a WC place. I am a bit skeptical whether he’ll be a good influence if there isn’t a larger motivation!

loan Remy one more season then, and ditch him like a cheap skank for lacazette when he is ready to move next season… I dont have much left for Remy, but if we can use him and then abandon him for something better, like he have done a few times to us, then I would be fine with that.

There was a story on Spurs yesterday with quotes from the club about needing to offload some players
They were looking to move on 8 players as they had a squad of 32 and prob want a new signing or two
Would happily take Kaboul Holtby and Lennon of there hands

I’m not too bothered about Remy coming here or not.I feel if he did eventually sign for us it would be with him kicking & screaming because he doesn’t really want to come.About Lacazette, both him & Grenier could be on the move.Everyone knows that Lyon must sell to pay the debts they owe which is 20m+ by the end of the transfer window and they’re skint. Maybe, just maybe we’re waiting to see if Lyon blink first.

After 10 games he could have a manager of the month award too (another). Unlikely to get sacked, given his contract and relationship with the owner. Who knows? That’s right … No one. Harry Pearson once said ” if you boiled a Geordie down to his essence, you end up with a spot of Valium …” … When did we turn into a tribe of pessimistic whiners. Que sera, sera. Bring on the Citteh and Howay the Lads.
