Newcastle’s New Opportunity To Sign Striker Target

Newcastle have been hurt late in the transfer a couple of time since Mike Ashley bought the club in the summer of 2007, and we are hoping that same scenario doesn’t happen again this summer.

Cheick Tiote wednesday-3

Cheick Tiote – in action in pre-season

There has been news that Cheick Tiote now wants to leave Newcastle, and that was a surprise to us, but assuming that news is true we have to think that Newcastle are now lining up possible replacements in case Cheick is sold.

Arsenal are said to be interested in Cheick, with the fee said to be £8M.

Newcastle do have some good players who can play defensive midfield – such as new signing Jack Colback, who has looked the part in pre-season, and Vurnon Anita and Moussa Sissoko can also play there, although Pardew has preferred to play Moussa going forward because he is a threat to opposing defenses.

Newcastle did some good business with Arsenal earlier this summer, when we sold Mathieu Debuchy for £10M plus £2M add-ons depending on how well Mathieu does at the north London club.

Arsenal’s Joel Campbell

And Newcastle could possibly use Cheick Tiote as bait in order to sign one of our current striker targets, Joel Campbell,  either permanently or on loan for the season.

Maybe get £6M plus a season long loan deal for Campbell in exchange for Cheick?

But even if that deal does happen, Newcastle surely need to bring in another defensive midfield player to replace Cheick before September.

That’s always assuming the news that Cheick wants away from Newcastle is true.

What do you think?

Nope, wouldn’t want the lad on loan and wouldn’t help us losing cheick

    Our Toon
There was a story on Spurs yesterday with quotes from the club about needing to offload some players
They were looking to move on 8 players as they had a squad of 32 and prob want a new signing or two
Would happily take Kaboul Holtby and Lennon of there hands

I’m not too bothered about Remy coming here or not.I feel if he did eventually sign for us it would be with him kicking & screaming because he doesn’t really want to come.About Lacazette, both him & Grenier could be on the move.Everyone knows that Lyon must sell to pay the debts they owe which is 20m+ by the end of the transfer window and they’re skint. Maybe, just maybe we’re waiting to see if Lyon blink first.

£6milion plus Campbell on a season long loan? Why don’t we just give the bloke away? Howay man, He is more valuable to our side then £8million, although probably not worth more than that to Arsenal. Campbell on the other hand is an unproven lad that may or may not be good enough for the Prem.

If we were to get him, might as well do it permanently. Why get an unproven kid on loan when we have those in the squad already.

Good! Nout more annoying than some idiot in front of ya holding up an iPad trying to film a penalty or free kick! Just watch the f**king game!!

@SkySportsNewsHQ: Martinez is at the launch & he confirmed that the signing of Christian Atsu on loan will be completed in the next 24 hours
Unfortunately for the lad that imo spells the end of the HBA to Everton link

Jesper… In response to the last post. I just dont want us to sign Remy on a permanent basis if im honest. I really dont like that guy anymore, but I apreciate that he could do a job for us and perhaps even help us finish in a position that would help us to sign Lacazette or someone else with skill next season.

Tiote is still worth £12-£15m if Ferdindno costed £35m then of course Tiote is worth that.

    Tads,
Did you read the Mag article? It is just some bloke speculating the club will do that as Man U have done it.

I also don’t think HBA was ever wanted by Everton anyway. More paper nonsense. The rumour received a very mixed reception on an Everton fan site as well. Similar to here. Still think someone will take a gamble on him before the window shuts.

    Crawford
Tiote, to us is worth a hell of a lot more
However in the market with his disciplinary record and form last season and age £8 mil is prob about what he’s worth to Arsenal

The question would be would Ashley weigh up his worth to the squad or his worth in pounds

valle…I don’t like the guy either, but I am just afraid he’ll be more of a nuisance than a point stealer. His presence didn’t seem to be that good the last three month or so last season.

Ah that’s a sh1tter hate it, same at festivals etc it’s a reet pain!

Your probably right on HBA, but if there was a link it’s gone now due to the conditions in regards to playing time and Martinez stating he only wants one more player
Let’s hope someone takes a gamble on him, no ones a winner as it stands

I’d take Dawson as he is English and we need some English lads, Townsend although he is greedy I think he will become a really good player but I wouldn’t take Lennon.

Ed – I think you’re losing the plot (with all due respect).
£8m for Tiote – you must be joking! – have you seen the prices average midfield players are going for this season?
As for Campbell, I agree with others on here, why should we take on, at no small expense, and develop players for other teams in the Premiership particularly for a guy who, let’s face it isn’t a prolific goalscorer? How many did he rattle in at the World Cup??
Finally, this report about Pardew and his 48 point target is just typical. Get everyone excited with the new found ambition and signings, get the season tickets in then tell it like it really is.
Pardew has to go from this club and take Mr Sports Direct with him. Have this feeling that by the end of the January window we’ll all be as depressed as Hell again.

Why sell Tiote to Arsenal and take JC on loan as part of the deal and send him back with more experience AW must think we are total mugs and we are if the deal comes off. Come on Ashley stand up to him you make the terms.
