What’s Newcastle’s Best Starting Eleven Against Man City?

It will be interesting to see what starting eleven Alan Pardew starts tomorrow afternoon, in our first league game against PL Champions Manchester City at the beautiful St. James’ Park stadium.

Remy Cabella huddersfield

Remy Cabella – can become great player at Newcastle

And there was a shock in the early first game of the season at Old Trafford, as Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United went down to their first home defeat of the season since back in 1972, when they lost 2-1 against Swansea.

It was also Swansea’s first ever league win at Old Trafford – so not a good start for  the Red Devils.

We have a feeling that Alan Pardew will flood the midfield for tomorrow’s game against City, and start only one striker up front.

Here’s what we think the stating eleven could be in a straight 4-5-1 formation:

Krul
Janmaat Williamson Coloccini  (c) Haidara
Cabella Anita Colback Sissoko Gouffran
Riviere
Subs: Elliot Taylor (S) Yanga-Mbiwa Dummett Perez Ferrerya Aarons

We’ve got Rolando Aarons and Perez in there as subs, and both players have played well in pre-season, and have looked good attacking young players.

That’s a good starting eleven and a very good bench, even though Cheick Tiote and Siem de Jong are out for tomorrow’s game.

What would your starting eleven be for tomorrow afternoon’s game?

I’d go with that exact starting 11 as well ED, seems to be our strongest that can be put out there, but still think we need a few more additions before the window shuts

Ed that’s a good starting 11 can’t say I’d change a thing I just hope Alan uses the subs before it’s too late, he has an annoying habit of waiting too long.

Hi Dok, watching the game at home then? 🙂

In the absence of SDJ, I’m actually not so sure what our best set-up is. Will Pards start with the 4-4-1-1 as he did against RSOc? or will he play Cabella and Gouffran with SIssoko advanced..hmm.. what would you guys do?

Strange – we are at home, fortress St James’ and all that!!

Given that we are predicted a shafting, surely the objective is to go all out to prove everyone wrong and give Shitty a game they will remember.

If we lose, it’s nothing more than expected – so why set up to achieve the predictions? Why not set up to attack city, to get in their faces, harry them, press them, chase them down, give them no room or time on the ball??

It looks like we believe the pundits and are setting up to minimise the goals conceeded.

    I predict this lineup:
    4-4-1-1
    Krul
    Janmaat Willo Collo Haidara
    Sissoko Anita Colback Gouffran
    Cabella
    Riviere

I’m not sure whether Pardew will pick m’biwa over willo, MYM has the most minutes in pre season however Willo played our last pre season game

Just want to put it out there after watching todays games that no doubt in my mind HBA is a unique player many of the EPL teams could do with it is ver sad to me that Pardew cant get on same page with him because say what you want but hr is a special footballer… That said still support the Lads no matter what

Genuine spring on the break and Colo should be yesterdays news by now, alas, Ed’s team will likely be the one, with Obertan probably on the bench instead of Saylor (hopefully) – no need for 2 CBS and a fullback on the bench.

Babysitting wingers, isolated ST and higgledy-piggledy stilted football – can’t wait!

    Hull 1 up.

Irrespective of the starting 11 tomorrow we HAVE to play with intensity, we can’t allow them time on the ball, we have to chase and close down to stop them from playing.

But that is the major issue I have with Pardew it’s that we simply wander around day dreaming far too often

    jackbutler,

i agree mate, we need to make city chase the ball and get in-between the lines, with city’s lineup they’ll hate a player like cabella getting in-between their defence and midfield.

I have a feeling we’re gonna give city a good game. i hope the fans voice their support and don’t start booing on chanting pardew out if we go 1-0 down or something. I’m not expecting much but i’m expecting some passion and effort from the players. People like Riviere, Cabella and Colback actually look like they want to play for us and want to do well for us

    I would go for

    Krul
    Janmaat – Williamson – Colo – Haidara

    Gouffran – Sissoko – Colback – Anita – Cabella

    Riviere

    Subs: Elliot – Yanga-Mbiwa – Abeid – Obertan – Aarons – Armstrong – Perez.

I see no reason to have Saylor and Dummitt as Yanga-Mbiwa can over any position in the back four. Abeid is needed as cover for the midfield. Aarons and Obertan are musts as has been shown in pre-season games.

I can accept losing as long as we give 100% but going down with a whimper, as we’ve done all to often under Pardew, is simply inexcusable.

In the games against the like’s of City we are not expected to get anything therefore have nothing to lose by going for the win with high tempo/intensity approach.

What Pardew did last season has to be put to one side as he’s still here and we need to start afresh

We still really need both Loic Remy and Micah Richards.

    Why don’t we do this:
Buy Loic Remy for £10million + Steven Taylor
    Buy Micah Richards for £4million
    only £14million spent

That would give us great quality and squad depth with M’Biwa not having to cover at RB as Janmaat and Richards can both play there, and Richards will be a good strong centre back for us, who’s got good pace and aerial ability. And we know that Remy will guarantee us goals.

I’d just swap M’biwa for colo from eds team and that’s it.

Yesterday I said 2 2 after carefull consideration and only being 24hrs away I’ve started to get carried away!

I’m now predicting us to win 3 2 catch city a bit off guard due to their fitness and our unknown factor! Plus Tiotes goal is in our minds if not there’s.

There’s a point to prove for so many on our side, my optimism isn’t gone yet and a predict a win and a mass celebration in the toon :). HTL

    Funny game.

Hull bought Snodgrass for £8m and he looked ordinary until h got injured. Stephen Quinn his replacement linked with a move away has ran the show for Hull since his introduction.

Hull much the better in the 2nd half

Tom Ince looking impressive too, although he should have killed the game when put clean through, but Green did well.

    3 things

We all have to understand that Pardwho doesnt feel comfortable with anything less than 4-4-2. He tries but he’s no tactical footballing genius

Aarons is good enough to start

City will play with width so there’s no point in trying to narrow the pitch.

So usual back five with Aarons, Sissoko, Anita, Goof in midfield and Cabella just behind Riviere
