The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Newcastle are preparing a double bid for center-back Micah Richards and winger/striker Scott Sinclair of Manchester City.
Scott Sinclair – available from Manchester City
There was some news a few days ago that Newcastle had bid £4.2M for Michah Richards, so maybe that had soem truth in it, but we may also be bidding for Scott Sinclair, and both players have been made available by City.
We did put out an article yesterday wondering whether we should go after striker John Guidetti and Scott Sinclair on loan, since both had been made available by manager Manuel Pellegrini, and he added that it was important that some of his younger players started to play again.
That will not happen at City, whose squad is just too big for this season, and therefore there could be some good deals available from the reigning PL Champions.
And Newcastle certainly like a good deal, as we all know.
Michah Richards – Man City defender
We mentioned before that one of the problems with City players is they are on very high wages, and that makes it very difficult for the Manchester club to unload some of the players they don’t want any more.
Maybe Newcastle could turn that to their advantage by getting a (really) good deal from City for those two players – either permanently or on loan for the season.
Whether we will be willing to pay their current wages is another question, but if the players really want to play, they should be willing to accept lower wages, and start plying their trade again.
Both players have no futures at Manchester City and they know it, so a decent bid by Newcastle to City, and a decent wage package to each of the players could see the deal completed.
We think both players would be worth signing, since Scott can score goals from the wing, and Micah Richards will have an opportunity to become a starting center-back at Newcastle, a position we have looked weak in for at least the last couple of seasons.
We also thought striker John Guidetti might be a decent loan signing, but it looks like Feyenoord are moving in for him – and of course from 2011-2012 John scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for Feyenoord while on loan in Holland.
It’s not surprising the Dutch side are interested in him again – probably on another loan deal.
What do you think?

And for JG, I think we have enough forward now and wait for our young lads to step in.
P.S. somehow feel like Tiote and HBA will gone soon..

Comment #7Wasn’t Sinclair a disaster when he was on loan at WBA?
He may have been injured I can’t remember, but they never played him.

Comment #11I think Richards only has one year left on his
high wage contract. After that, he would have
to take whatever was offered.
His loss of salary over one year could be covered
by a signing on fee (hence a lower transfer fee)
and putting him on reasonable wages fromn the
start.
Still not so sure about his attitude/commitment
and lifestyle.
Bit of a bling lover, isn’t he?

How on earth is the Sinclair deal ‘totaly unnecessary’ ?
Our only natural wingers at the moment are obertan and aarons. Cabella can play there. Sissoko and gouffran arent wingers.
There are more important signings like ST and CB, but i totaly understand why we are after him. If this statement is true.

But if we let go tiote, there are good younger options.I don’t know about Sinclair but the Richard deal looks good one bcoz he is much better than s.Taylor,

i know gouffran and riviere can play in that position. But it isnt there natural position. Sinclair plays in that position and he is a natural winger, he will be better then gouffy and riviere in that position.

Comment #35Get these two in and it’s a great window. Fail to sign another midfielder and CH and the window is a joke. Two positions we’ve needed for years now
One of Riviere, Chucky, Ayoze or Cisse are more than capable of stepping up to the plate. I’m excited with all three CF signings.
We can probably count on Cabella for at least five goals if he stays fit, along with Sissoko and De Jong chipping in at least as many.
I’m personally iffy on Sinclair but Richards is a beast when fit. Both would round out our squad perfectly though, with or without Saylor and Tiote

Comment #37Definitely no thanks to Sinclair. He did zip at West Brom last year. Fair enough he missed 10 games through injury, but he never managed a full game, and only started 3 or 4. He had 1 good season in the Prem, nothing more.
Richards is better then we have but not great. I’d take him.

If Sinclair comes that means we could move Gouffy up to his proffered position of ST.

Comment #39Manchester City won the Premier League in 2011-12, with Richards nominated as Manchester City’s player of the year.[16] Richards finished the season with five assists – the most of any defender in the Premier League.[17] City won the league again in 2013-14, but with Richards having lost his place in the side to Pablo Zabaleta he made only two league appearances (not enough to qualify for a winner’s medal) and ten appearances in total, including three in the UEFA Champions League
4.2 mill for Richards is a steal and need to get off this always injured notion. the fact of the matter is that Zabaleta has been keeping Micah out of the squad and not injuries.
Lascalles is currently injured……Does that mean we shouldn’t have signed a possible future English international ??.
personally bring Richards in,Give him the lead role in the heart of the defence, bring lascalles in to the fold next season and hopefully this would go some way to solving our defensive weaknesses
