Welsh…do you ever watch a game that you have no stake in?

…what constitute a great game to you?

Jesper… Yah, Anita was a good passer in Holland, but it seems like he just cannot get used to the fact that the game is faster here. Often he plays to someone who is under pressure because he takes so long passing the ball that the opposition have read the situation. I agree that our movement used to be bad, but to be fair to Pardew, (And im not a huge fan) we actually looked like we had set up our tactics to play in triangles, the way our players off the ball moved. We just didnt have the skill to really see it through, because we lost the ball once it got to one of the players I mentioned earlier.

personally don’t rate Anita, but he had two good games so far.I think in yesterdays game,it was Dummett who lose balls and miss pass at times.other wise we barely misplaced passes.the emerging of king colback, our Redondo, made us to forget about the lost Tiote..

To quote Pardew “we play good football”- ARE YOU FKING KIDDING ME!!!??

1- Grow a pair and play Attacking, Short Passing Football!!

2- Make up with HBA asap and re introduce him to the squad slowly

3- Forget about Willo being a threat on goal in all our set-plays, he has yet to score for us in God knows how many appearances!!

4- Dump Dummett and replace the negative lad with a more threatening and better all round player in Haidara!

5- Stop playing Riviere alone up top as he is not a lone striker and has never played that role!!

6- Make Gouffy go forward and not encourage him to be so defensive minded you tool!! The poor lad is overworked every game and is becoming the new Gutierrez.

    Previous thread – Whickham debate
I know he has not had many games and went off the rails since leaving Ipswich.
But I can remember when we played Ipswich drew 2-2 last game of the season in our promotion year, he gave our defence the runaround we could not handle him – scored 1 made 1.
I would take a punt because if he could replicate that form and the end of last seasons I would take him.
Also Van Djik, I would get him – need another central defender who is mobile and what I have heard this player sounds half decent.

Came back for a quick read last night after i had asked how we played. The general consensus was that, while we didnt play defencively, we did not attack as much as we did v citeh, and we still need a finisher. Disapointing result for me. I want more going forward.

several Celtic players were rested for the champs league game midweek. So unlikely its Van Dijk.

It’ll either be a loan signing ie Coates or maybe Guidetti or a perm signing. That’s if the rumour is even true.

    Definitely wont be Loic Remy.

    Welsh,
you asked a question, who should be happier, Everton or Newcastle fans, given Everton’s detriment.

I don’t think anyone answered so I will: Everton. They played on an equal (or better) level against a stalwart top 4 team. They combined well. They had plenty of chances. They look like a top 6 team.

    Bloody hell
Just logged off the site to run over other football stories on Euro sport
Cameroonian striker Albert Ebosse has tragically died after being struck in the head by an object thrown from the stands during an Algerian league game.

Ebosse, who had scored a goal in the match, was fatally struck by a projectile at the end of JS Kabylie’s game against USM Alger, which his club ended up losing 2-1.

Brings a sobering thought to all the banter that goes on on the blog.
Sympathies to the player and his family could happen anywhere!!!

Puts into context how well behaved British fans are these days when compared to some on the continent.

Very little violence these days at English games.

Hopefully Ferrerya can score a couple vs Gillingham and then play up top next weekend.

Actually for once agree with Pards, Cabella and Riviere were trying to force things too much.

Janmaat looked composed and looks to have a decent shot on him and isn’t a bad header of the ball either.

Dummett needs dropping, Haidara should be given a run of at least 10 games at left back.

Our passing is horrible. It should be as simple as this- You pass badly in the game constantly and you will get dropped! Simples yet Pardew plays the same terrible passers every time, so they keep doing it and never see their mistakes.

I think it’s more to do with the system than the players (not all the time though). We sit deep and don’t commit many forward, which means our players have limited options.

There is little movement off the ball, players seem to be too rigid a lot of the time.

When we seem to let the handbreak off and commit a few forward we seem to do everything better.

They look like a top six team yet like us they have dropped points, and they rely on the big man up front. There’s no difference between the two clubs to be honest.

Very interesting story on Atheltico Madrid and how they compete for signing players.

Doyen sports invest in them as a sponsor but also buy shares in players that Athletico can’t afford, owning a % of the player’s registration.

Dummet for me isnt the awful player people make him out to be. He is solid defensively,(better than santo and haidara imo), but gives very little going forward. He should only start games where we are going to be under alot of pressure. Otherwise hiadara should start and dummet comes on to see out difficult games.

Transfer Sage- Yeah you’re right there also. The players don’t move as much as they should off the ball. It should be easy pass and move stuff. Working the triangles and one touch passing. Yet we slow everything down taking more than just the one touch and then even when a player moves into space he is already covered by an opposition player, forcing us to revert backwards or lose possession.

It pains me to see this slow, and negative way of playing every time and I only have Pardew and his coaches to blame for that. What the hell happened to our fast, pacey all action gameplan and passing quick into feet and always looking to threaten the opposition!? The shite we have become under Pardew and all the so called managers of the game before him have turned us into this. Ever since the great Sir Bobby left us 🙁

    I’m very lost here,

I keep reading we need a finisher

are you telling me that the finisher is going to be standing in every position covering every opportunity we get , the simple answer to that is no,
if you put a finisher on the pitch , ie , cisse , he is starved of chances, he is starved of help support , other players making runs to give him more space ,, we don’t do that at our club,

we haven’t even tried to play with our strikers , we haven’t tried pairing them up to see if that is even an option , yet our so called experts are saying we need a finisher ,

I tell you what I think we need more than a striker , confidence , 2 games down , very few chances created , and players like goofy look shadow of the player he was when he joined ,

willow , the guy does not have a goal in all his time here , yet if I was to think of how many chances he gets compared to our forwards , it is frightening that air shot was so poor , that’s confidence, plus the fact he cannot head the ball is a big issue for me.

Gillingham will be a huge game , looking forward to Pardews rain dance in that one , maybe who knows

one thing is for sure , I can see Anita making way for palace neck week , and that would be wrong , it should be goofy

and why oh why is Aaron’s dropped and obertan still on the bench , if there was a poll on that , I think out of a 1000 votes only 10 mutters would have him in the squad, he is a poor footballer

I thought Everton were fortunate last night. Their second goal was clearly offside. They always seem to get the benefit of some very poor decisions which we do not.
Did anyone think N Zogbia should have been sent off yesterday after fouling Cabella on the half way line having already been booked?

I think a big problem we have that probably stops our midfield from pushing forward is the chronic lack of pace from our 2 CBs who we have to babysit with both Anita & Colback. That’s also the reason why we can’t play a higher line.It wasn’t brilliant yesterday but it wasn’t as bad as some would have you believe..We did give the ball away a fair bit.mainly by Collo giving it to Willo to punt it up field 30/40 yards, needless to say that we lost possession every time !! I think the more we play the more it show’s just how clear it is that a top CB & a top CF would improve us no end. It’s still early doors yet so it’s not the end of the world but it is far too early to write us off as failures, there could be light at the end of the tunnel, a flicker maybe …but light.

We do not need a finisher. We have/had one of the best finishers in Europe in Cisse until Pardumb ruined his career. Same thing will happen to Riviere and Ayoze under Pardumb it’s inevitable

    Catchy,

I think the reason is, is that we are too far away from the strikers to create more chances and the main reason there is the way we defend, our 2 deeper lying CM#s dont close down high enough up or quick enough.

    Excuse my punctuation….Norwegian keyboard!
