In the two Premier League games so far this season Newcastle have fielded three Englishman and two of those – Jack Colback and Paul Dummett – are local lads.
Paul Dummett and Daryl Janmaat in action yesterday
Paul Dummett has been interviewed on the Newcastle web-site today, and this is what the Kenton lad had to say about yesterday’s draw at Aston Villa and the upcoming Capital One Cup tie at Gillingham on Tuesday night:
“It was a pleasing performance.” “I think we played well as a team, but it’s a bit disappointing not to get three points.” “We’ve lost two points there today.”
“There are positives from the game to take forward into the cup game in midweek and then Crystal Palace next weekend though.”
“Villa are a good team – young and fit – and they tried to hit us on the counter a few times as well.” “It’s a tough place to go, Villa Park, and I think the performance from the boys was good, and we need to carry it on for the whole season really.”
“The Tuesday game is massive for the Club,” “We haven’t won a cup for years and years and we’ve been knocked out in the early stages in the last few years as well, so it’s important for the team, especially to get the season off on a winning run.”
It’s 45 years since we won the Inter-City Fairs Cup back in 1969, and it’s now 59 years since we last won a local cup, when we thrashed Manchester City 3-1 in the FA Cup Final of 1955, and that was our third FA Cup win in five years – having also won it in 1951 and 1952.
Newcastle have won the FA Cup six times in total (1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952 and 1955) and been runners-up seven times (1905, 1906, 1908, 1911, 1974, 1998, 1999) – and we have never been in the League Cup (Capital One Cup) final.
We need to change that this season, but with another league game coming up on Saturday against Crystal Palace, Pardew will play at least half the side on Tuesday night at Gillingham with some of our fringe players.
With big Mike Williamson banned from the game on Saturday, he may start the game on Tuesday night.
We hope we are strong enough to get through the second round tie – the very last thing we want on Tuesday night is a defeat. 🙁

Low wages yes, but nevertheless wages that Ashley will not want to pay out on if they have zero chance of playing.
As for a top class striker coming in?
I’m not gonna hold my breath as they are very expensive, and we don’t do expensive these days

And Ben Arfa is??
He goes missing in most matches and hardly the quality player when no clubs want to grab him on the cheap….
Some people big him up and in reality he is nothing special…. It’s scary how much some rate him on here, you would think he is Messi or Ronaldo…. in his wildest dreams maybe but he is not that great.
He does 1 great thing in 4-5 games and is hailed a messiah, don’t see the hype.
Cabella already looks a better player, playing for the team opposed to for himself, and he may have messed a couple of things up but already is higher valued in my eyes, it’s not like Benny does everything right or never misses chances….

I got your point.may be u and I saw his ability differently.as I said this is the first time I saw him in action. But still he looked very slow to me.he is here to take the role of cabaye isn’t he?why didn’t he perform that role is another question.may be he was instructed to play behind strikers that’s why didn’t saw him in MF areas and judged him he cannot perform playmaking role bcoz didnot saw him near colback.moreover some mgrs have certain potential to play players out of their position and make them effective in the new role.take kolo toure for example, initially he was a striker when he started his professional career as well as when he arrived at arsenal.he ended up playing cb where he became standout defender in his days.siem never played playmaking in his previous career, but as u said can be converted
to that role if needed bcoz has potential to do that.
But looking at him at villa game, his movement and pace isn’t suited to be true mfdr, that is why I called for the need of a new cabaye.anyway too early to judge,we need to watch six or seven competitive games of him.but if he is that slow like villa game, cannot rely on him to be ball distributor.otherwise we definitely need pure playmaker if we want to push for European places.u got fair point though..

I wasn’t having a dig mate.
A lot of your posts have a lot of valid points and are bang on.
Like I said though your in a different league for rubbing people up the wrong way 😉
I suspect you have a dark and dry sense of humour that a lot of people couldn’t understand.
I agree with a lot of your posts about Pardew and feel the same, you voice it where I keep it buried otherwise I’d drive myself nuts with the hatred I’d eventually develop.
Instead I pity Pardew for being inept and Dilussional, I dare say I wouldn’t mind him as much if he didn’t waffle on with his lies and opinionated views on his own greatness. Maybe 😉

Yeah mate, the vocalist goes by the name Ellery James Roberts and is definitely more an extension/evolution of WU LYF whereas Los Porcos is a whole new direction away from WU LYF really. It seems Ellery was the predominant creative brain behind the band after hearing the two directions they went after they split.
A quick scroll through a few pages would suggest this place has maybe calmed down a bit? I remember around the time i stopped coming on here it was mainly posters arguing with eachother with little reference to football haha.

I love that you are making it easy for me, 🙂
you say your a realist and that it’s because pardew has poor player to work with,
I say any decent manager does not need great players to play good football , a half decent manager can get average players to play above them selves by playing to the players strengths he has,
poyet proved that at Brighton where they played us of the pitch twice
SAF won his last championship with the worst team he has ever had at Man U ,
Martinez won a cup with a crap Wigan team ,
all because they played to the teams strengths ,
Pardews biggest problem is he thinks he can play like Jose , and he selects attack minded players to play defensive roles for us,
our teams over the last 3 seasons have been good enough to be comfortably top 8, I think our squad is better than Man Us , sure id take a few players from there team , but not that many
keep up the good work , keep dreaming

Yea Man Utd don’t have a better team than us Lmao!
Think I won’t bother reading your comments in the futureif you think that….
Most of Man Utds team would stroll into our Team….
Van Persie
Rooney
Mata
De Gea
Jones
Herrea
Januzaj
The list goes on where they are better than us.
You must be dreaming, most ridiculous comment I have ever read on this blog…

I understand
but I never used to be like this, I used to love the banter on here , but it all changed when I seen the game a different way to what most seen on here , I feel I watch the game and not listen to commentators scripted shpeel
anyway they started having a go at me for saying something different to them calling me , ganging up on me,
now I don’t care what people think of me, if I feel there idiots I will call them it, it’s not like they called others for calling me,

Comment #292Just finished watching the spuds game as I’m sure many of you have. Interesting to see some decent free flowing football for a change, although I hope it doesn’t last. The performances from both Chadli and Lamela were brilliant and not to mention erikson. Just goes to show what two quick skillful wingers can do with the link up of a decent number 10. Oh wait havnt we got all that ?? Cabella, Ben arfa and sdj?
Ffs p45dew put your ego and differences aside and do what best for the club. Your not measured on how well you can stick to your decisions, it’s purely on performances on the ptch and so far something needs to change and promptly.
Interesting to know when ben 10s last game was for us??

Comment #294Catchy is Pardew the first thing you think about when you wake up? It`s not healthy. When he does go he will leave a huge gap in your life.
Your logic defies understanding. For you the only factor affecting a game of football is the manager. There is no room in your world view for the opposition, or for the players he works with. I pity you and your obsession. You need a hobby outside football. Take a walk, play with the kids. Take your wife out.Do something that gives you a little perspective on life.

just because you attached janazaj jones and de gea make my argument even more stronger
jones looks lost in most games , average at best
de gea , not better than krul, but no worse
janazaj , good tallent , but still lots to learn

Jones would be a welcome replacement to Both Williamson and Colo
De Gea has been better than Krul for 2 seasons as Krul has recently been nothing short of average
Januzaj is one of the best young prospects in the Pl would take him of Ben Arfa all day long AND Cabella…..
He is exciting and could be one of the bets players in the world in a few years time.
Speaks volumes About Lvg being a tactical god when he puts him on the bench….
Was probably Uniteds best player last year.

Never thought it was…
Tbh think if it were it would be Richards or Dijk from Celtic.

Comment #306After the second game against each team who prepares a banner acknowledging the 2 lads it would be good if the banners were presented to be all unfurled at our final match in April. And perhaps even at a Wembley cup final but that may be hoping for too much!
