We’ll Not Lose Any More Big Players This Summer

There’s now just 7 days left in the summer transfer window, and Alan Pardew is hoping the window ends on a high note,  and Newcastle can get one or two more players through the door before next Monday night – including a good striker.

Alan Pardew – we will not lose another top player this summer

The Newcastle boss has lost two of his best players in January transfer windows since he joined the club in December, 2010,  the first being Andy Carroll back in 2011, after Pardew had just taken over from Chris Hughton.

Then last January Yohan Cabaye was also sold to PSG, and in both cases the players were not replaced.

The news of the last few weeks has been that Cheick Tiote may be leaving Newcastle this summer, but the Newcastle boss seems determined to keep a player he sees as critical to Newcastle doing well this season.

This is what Alan Pardew has said about the current situation:

“I don’t think I’m going to lose a big player and I certainly hope – fingers crossed after Andy Carroll – that continues.”

“The last two or three years, we’ve lost key players and the ones who’ve gone in just haven’t been able to carry the flag.”

“We feel we’ve done good business this summer though, and we’ve got a good solid team.”

When Cheick Tiote is playing well then Newcastle are usually playing well,  and we still think the 28 year-old is an important player for Newcastle this coming season.

Arsenal are said to be interested, and they certainly need some of Cheick’s bite and physicality in defensive midfield, but we’d be surprised if Arsene Wenger does come back in for him over the next week.

We hope Cheick is still at the club come September 2nd.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Kiss of death from Pardew there 🙁

Stories spreading on Twitter that Welbeck did not travel back with the Utd squad after todays game and he will sign for us in the next couple of days 🙁

Would you have him as our 10 signing or would you rather have nobody?

Imho id rather have a center half but thats not going to happen, unless manure want rid of one of theres as they have just bought one.

What’s with people being down on Wellbeck, he’s a cracking striker, a huge upgrade on what we already have, works his socks for his teammates and knows how to score. Honestly, I think he’s probably out of our league. More likely to end up at a Spurs or Everton than us.

To be fair it did look pretty good but again it’s gullible little blurts who forward it or whatever the fcuk they do, then it’s all over facefcuk, then it’s on a two bob website who claim sauces then it gets recycled on twatter again because it’s off a website….load of bollox and I really hope it is too!

Key word there supershearer “works his socks off” parsnip will fcuking love that but tbh his record is shite and he’s only been elevated to where he is because of who he plays for

Quick question if anybody will indulge me, If he played for us or anyone outside of the “big clubs” would he be in the England squad? I seriously fcuking doubt it!

@A_C not sure if he would be around the England team if he didn’t play for Utd, point is he does and is good enough for England and Utd. He reads the game better than most. The only reason he doesn’t get more games up front for Utd is they have RVP and Rooney. He’s a serious improvement on what we already have and would give us serious threat up top, which is something that we’re desperately lacking at the moment as demonstrated by yesterday’s result.

Honestly dont think we will get a striker this window and they may potentially wait until the January window and go after Lacazette again.
I think that between Rivere, Ayoze and Ferreyra (who i believe could be a real star of the season) we should have enough to keep us safe until then.

I believe the plan was to bring in Grenier but due to his injury that may also have to wait until January.
If Tiote was to leave I hope we go for Wanyama. This lad is a real talent and would be better than Tiote ever was.

Here’s hoping we can get a young CB in who can partner Colo this year and partner MYM next year.

I also think that if Pardew was fired, the best choice for us would be De Boer. He has managed Ajax extremely well and got them playing great looking football. In addition he has obviously worked with his former captain De Jong which can only be a benefit.

Also hoping a few years down the line (after a successful spell with De Boer) Ginola takes the position!!

No chance we will get Wanyama unfortunately he will be with one of the top 4 in a couple of seasons he is already better than Tiote as he can actually pass the ball and score some goals !!

Doubt we could afford Wellbeck, still he’s a very capable, hardworking proven EPL striker, and anyone who thinks he isn’t good enough for us is in cloud cuckoo land. Would improve us.

What’s this utter bollox that we’re going to sign Wellbeck anyway?

Where has that come from aside twitter and gobshi*es?

We wouldn’t pay what Man U would want and he wouldn’t provide anything we don;t already have.

Riviere, Ferreyra and Perez are all just as capable (if not more) of scoring a goal than Wellbeck to justify the outlay so its just not going to happen.

Even if he did sign I’d be happier with him as an extra option than with no striker at all so why the whining?

    He’s not a 10-15 goal a season striker but he’ll get a minimum 6-10 and that’s sadly where Ashley’s ambition aims. 🙁

    Unfortunately you are probably right!

I still stand by my belief that in the absence of Ben Arfa that this will be our most successful line-up.

    Janmaat MYM Colo Haidara
    Sissoko Tiote
    Riviere De Jong Cabella

I would rather have Javier Hernandez than Welbeck.

Next game will be a big chance for Mbiwa to show everyone that he deserved to be in the 1st team.

    Career total appearances: 175

    Goals: 42

    Man Utd Totals:

    Appearances: 139

    Goals: 33

…and those meagre totals were for Man Utd. Imagine when he gets even less service from the players who are miles back down the pitch and he is isolated up front like Cisse and now is already happening with Riv. Hard working or not, forwards should score more goals than he does.

For Man Utd he has players chipping in around him. Here….

I can’t imagine we are after Welbeck. He IS better than what we have (Chucky not included at the mo), particularly for the lone role up top, but I’d imagine we will look and see ‘better’ (unproven potential) abroad.

While I think we are in dire need of a centre forward, I wouldn’t want the club to splash money on an average player like Welbeck for the sake of it. Let’s give Chucky a run out or two and then see where we are.

From the Villa game, both teams were dismal, and did very little, but if either side had a decent centre forward then they would have won that. Fortunately for us, Benteke is injured. Fortunately for them, we don’t seem to have one that will offer too much threat.

For all this power and pace Rivi threatened to show against City, he was fairly comfortably marshalled by 2 of the slowest centre halves in the league. De Jong gave us a bit more threat, and at the minute we all seem to be pinning our hopes on him getting goals and linking the play. A lot of responsibility to put on one player.

Cabella is still getting used to the league, but zero excuses for that miss. I think even Shola would tuck that opportunity away, at the very least make the keeper work.

Janmaat looked decent again. Anita and Colback covered well on a number of occasions with covering the full back, or when a centre half was dragged out, dropping in at full back with the full back moving centrally. Essentially, it looked reasonably well drilled, although the calibre of player doing it is suspect. Other than covering, both Colback and Anita were otherwise largely forgettable.

Sky sports said wellbeck stayed in NE instead of travelling with the team. I think he’s signing 10 unless he’s contemplating the unwashed.

    Could be worse…..

Sky sport dont make up stories so i think there could be something in the Welbeck thing.
His name was mentioned a few days ago and i think he is the 10th signing Warnock was going on about.
It depends how much Manure want, cant really say whether he,ll be worth it or not until the fee is revealed.
We are running out of time to get a striker so i suppose he,s an easy option.

And since when has Pardew dictated who is sold and who is,nt?
If Ashley wants to sell Tiote for a profit,he will, its as simple as that.
Puppet Pardew wont, does,nt and cant do a thing about it.

I admit I have been pleasantly surprised by Colback and can see him pushing Sissoko for the cm alongside Tiote.
Riviere is much like Lacazette who can play as a Striker and also as a Right Wing.
Once everyone is playing well I think that this would potentially utilies our strongest players. Of course this all depends on how good a player Ferreyra turns out to be in the BPL
